We had a lovely week at this traditional family run hotel. The location is superb, just back from the beach. The hotel is nicely arranged around a series of gardens and courtyards providing lots of opportunities for seating and shade. The food is really good, traditional Italian (we had half board) and there is a good wine list. The staff... More

I stayed here three days for work, planning an event at a nearby venue. The staff was immediately friendly and helpful. It can be quite a climb to get to your room, if you have health problems this is not the place to stay. I had half board and both breakfast and dinner were excellent. The beach is nice, a... More

It is kind of hard to get there, but once you're there is totally worth it. The staff is really nice, as the service and the food is great! Even though the place seems a little bit old, the rooms have good conditions and are clean. The only con is that in the room I was in I couldn't get... More

A bit hard to find among the curvy roads and many hills, this place is spread out beside three nice beaches. The half-pension is ok, but nothing extravagant. Nice staff. Be sure to get one of the rooms with the patio facing the sea. Plain but well kept rooms. The biggest disadvantage is that there is no village to stroll... More

This is a perfect little hotel. It is very prettig, with flowery terrace. Service is great, really personal and kind. F ex one of our crowd needed a cushion on the dinner chair. Every time we were moved about, the cushion was moved as well. Old fashioned kindness everywhere. The food is fine, nothing spectacular but decent and always something... More

This is a lovely, quiet hotel that allows you to enjoy this part of Elba without paying as much as you would in other 5* hotels, further up the beach. The rooms are basic, but clean and you have everything that you need. In this area I wouldn't worry too much about having the most beautiful hotel room in the... More

We arrived to this hotel for the final night of our honeymoon on the recommendation of a colleague. Very friendly receptionist showed us two rooms. Price high but good location so thought we'd 'treat ourselves'. No option of B&B so limited to half-board. We chose more expensive room with sea view and a bath. Beach is the best on the... More

In Hotel Danila we found the perfect place to stay if you look for a casual, typical Italian atmosphere. No groups, very friendly people, lovely gardens, beautiful beach! The scenery feels so original mediterranean because the whole bay consists of a pine tree forest without hardly any buildings. White sand beaches and cristal clear water completes the picture. We would... More

I can't really say enough about this place, over-rated, over-priced, loud, location is not bad and they do their best to keep you at the place to spend more money there. This is a great litle hotel that has a lot of charm and the feel of a nice little getaway, the grounds are a highlight of the hotel , all the gardens, isolated lounge areas , very private areas, good food, nice staff, This is a quite old hotel (I think built in the 1950's) but this is a plus,... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dolce relaxVentisette rooms, most with private entrance, on four terraces that express the solar atmosphere and Mediterranean Bay Scaglieri, squeezed between the wider gulf and the small inlet of the oven. The Hotel Danila is a discreet presence in the alchemy of a landscape that few other places in the island gives a handful of meters a sandy beach and lush bush of myrtle, arbutus and mastic. The secret of this structure is enclosed in the extreme proximity to the sea and in the dominant position of the cottage on the bay, distributed on different levels according to the original design of the terraced countryside. The traditional hotel architecture is nowhere to Danila, in a perfectly successful attempt to privilege the need for privacy and tranquility of the guests. And 'why each room type is a world unto itself, built around environments that express the warmth of a sober and authentic in the values it expresses. The deeper meaning of hospitality management Stefania and Luisa, who have taken over the last decade to the mother Danila - an example of forward-looking woman and entrepreneur Elbe after World War II - is enclosed in their ability to accommodate guests in the desire to do the holiday experience to live in freedom. Discovering the heritage of the island nature through hiking, mountain biking and kayaking or simply in silence and sweetness of the vegetation that surrounds the entire structure, in a profusion of colors and fragrances from spring to late summer. From every room you can see the brush strokes of blue sea that flows into the emerald green shades along the shoreline and cliffs that surround the beaches of Scaglieri and Biodola. A conciliatory presence in an environment that still preserves intact the landscape on which first bet Danila and now Luisa and Stefania defend and reproduce through a run hotel attentive to the welfare of the soul and body, also certified by the prestigious European Ecolabel, according to a logic that rewards the use of renewable energy and biological materials, biodegradable and recyclable. ... more   less
