I loved Il Pellicano and never wanted to leave. The grounds are so incredibly lush and beautiful in mid-summer: all bougainvilleas, rosemary thickets, potted tuscan orange trees, etc. The hotel itself is tastefully situated on a series of terraces overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, which varies from light acquamarine to deep navy blue, depending on the time of day. The service:... More

A real sanctuary where you feel immediately at home. With only 50 rooms and suites there is enough space at the manmade beach, the swimming pool and the 2 restaurants that you never feel too crowded. All the staff are very professional, but provide a personalized warmhearted service. Food is excellent in both restaurant, one of them carries 2 Michelin... More

Il Pelicano is one hotel I will never forget. The room and terrace were so lovely and spacious and the view of the sea is amazingly beautiful. The food was delicious, and the service was perfection. Take a taxi to Orbetello for some shopping, but be aware that they close stores from around noon until about 4pm. When I go... More

Amazing hotel!!! The best I ever stayed in Italy! Very charming and romantic. Small and private. Excellent outstanding service. Top Michelin restaurant with delicious food. Breakfast was suuuper! Nice location - hidden in the hills, out of the busy areas. Beautiful view from all the rooms. This hotel is expensive, but it is worth every cent.

...with perfect service and stunning views. The hotel is nestled along the hill overlooking the sea from every angle of the hotel. This alone will make your stay very special, as there is nothing more beautiful than this view for breakfast, dinner and all day long from the pool or the beach in the cliffs below the hotel. Be aware... More

I figured out upon turning around one of the mountain corners and seeing one of the most beautiful views on Earth that the location would be superb. The website does not do justice to how beautiful the grounds and views are at the hotel. To my surprise the service was so good, warm, friendly and efficient. The greet team were... More

We have just returned from our holiday in Tuscany, which finished with a 3 night stay at Il Pellicano. We had a fantastic stay, the hotel was fantastic, the staff lovely, amazing views and the food out of this world. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The elegant five-star hotel, located in Tuscany's Maremma region, was built in the mid-1960s as a love nest for Michael and Patricia Graham and it is today part of The Leading Hotels of the World. The home, called Il Pellicano as a tribute to the first time the couple met at Pelican Point in California, was initially a club for the Grahams' friends, but was subsequently expanded and opened to friends of friends. However, a few things remained the same: the pleasure of feeling at home and the glamorous and slightly retro atmosphere. The hotel's discrete luxury and the still-rugged Tuscan countryside attract the international jet set. Today, the cottages and the central building are suspended between the sky and the sea, with large rooms, windows and terraces where it's unclear where the indoors end and the outdoors begin. There are pathways and stairways, fragrant gardens and discrete corners, a restaurant with one Michelin stars and three Gambero Rosso forks, a heated sea-water swimming pool, a spa with a sea view to soothe both the body and the soul, and for those wanting to take a dip in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a white platform with chaise longue and immaculate parasols. ... more   less
