The Costa Smeralda is one of the world's most famous and exclusive tourist destinations and a favourite haunt for celebrities and famous names from the Old and the New Continents. Glamour, exclusivity and the area's natural beauty blend in perfect harmony. Nature and architecture blend perfectly in a setting of rare beauty. Visitors arriving for the first time at the Colonna Hotel Country & Sporting are met by perfectly manicured lawns, gardens, avenues, the simple Mediterranean architecture, pastel hues, rock formations and the heady aromas of the Mediterranean vegetation.

Myself and a friend stayed at the Colonna country and Sporting club for 3nights last week and can honestly say it was the nicest small hotel I have been to in a long time! The hotel itself and the bedrooms were immaculate and everywhere smelt clean. The staff on the front desk were kind and very attentive and would try to help in any way they could. The Restaurant was very nice, air conditioning inside but we ate most of the meals on the outside terrace, each course for dinner had 4 options except for dessert which had one. We were on a half board basis and ate lunch one day in the hotel, same menu applied but very expensive. The breakfast was incredible with so much choice from bread, fruit, yogurt, pastries, croissants to traditional English items like scrambled eggs and sausage & bacon. There was also three areas which included a Vegan range, gluten free range and lactose free range. The Porto Cervo marina beach was small but lovely, mostly made up of sand with some shingle but had incredibly clear water, we also visited the beach which the Hotel offered a free shuttle bus to, however it was very busy and we were bothered by people trying to tell us items, so didn’t enjoy it as much, however there was a restaurant and sun beds and umbrellas you could hire. Porto Cervo Town ( Village ) was very well kept and pretty however very upmarket and shops were mostly designer, such as Harrods and Dolce and Gabbana, and not a lot of your typical souvenir shops. The hotel does also run a shuttle bus to the ‘Village’ however we walked and it only took us around 25mins, and was a very scenic path along the marina. Would highly recommend the Gelato parlour ‘pasqualina’ just outside Porto Cervo village as it was reasonably priced and had such an extensive range of flavours. The setting of the hotel was incredibly incredibly peaceful and the grounds were maintained to a very high standard. The pool was very clean and plenty of sun beds, the lifeguard was very attentive and was out every morning cleaning the pool and washing down sun beds. The area the Hotel is based around means the backdrop is very mountainous and has amazing views! All the staff were extremely polite and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. Special thanks to the Shuttle bus driver ( sorry couldn’t remember the name on your top ) who was helpful and polite ans always smiled when passing by and also Luca in the restaurant who seemed to work most nights and would continue to great us with a smile and would do everything he possible could to ensure you enjoyed your meal, including offering alternatives if no one of the choices on the menu suited us. All in all, we would definitely return and had the most amazing time in the loveliest hotel in such a beautiful setting! Thank you Colonna country and sporting Club.

Arrived at hotel by road, it was a relatively easy drive from airport. Staff here have been always helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The room was good although would have liked some more natural light, mattress very hard. The facilities, food and staff could not be faulted. It certainly was helpful to have a car although local resort and beach are within walking distance. Would recommend this hotel to any age group of client. Plenty of children staying when we were here and they were welcomed and well catered for.

This is such a lovely hotel to stay in. The staff were all incredibly helpful. The hotel is well maintained and very clean. The pool area is gorgeous and was never too busy so no issue getting a spot. The rooms are quite simply furnished but were spotless. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering a stay in Costa Smerelda

I suppose when writing a review you have to consider the cost per night compared to others in the area but unfortunately it's still only average. We were upgraded to a sea view, which was lovely. But the room smelt of damp, especially the wardrobe, the fridge seal was black with mould and no Wi-Fi in the room. We did tell reception on day one but nothing was resolved. Walls were patch repaired and the grouting wasn't too good in the bathroom. Linen and towels were changed daily, which we felt was unnecessary and the hand soap also changed, very wasteful. Lots of single use plastic including cups and straws. We'd travelled all round Sardinia and the other five places were all more ethical. €20 for breakfast, so we didn't bother or with the €5 non refundable towel hire. Walls very thin and you could here people talking etc. Walkable to the Marina but a bit of a trek into town, €20 taxi. Pool area and gardens very nice.

This resort has improved a lot, they really take care of their place and are interested in the opinion of their guests. Pleasant stay, really nice staff, memory foam pillows (yeah!), new electrical sockets and switched, nice air conditioners. The walls to the other rooms are a bit thin and you can hear a lot from your neighbours but I guess it is not a big surprise. Overall it is a clean, pleasant place and really a nice stay.
