Very comfortable and relaxing. Private beach a pleasant 5 minute walk down a small hill, free paddle board and kayaks, the sea is crystal clear. Glorious setting with pool overlooking countryside and sea. We had a room overlooking the pool which was great. Restaurant was closed except for breakfast, so don't know about that. Only a few minutes drive from Porto Cervo where there are lots of (very expensive!) shops and restaurants, but there are other better value restaurants nearby as well, try Ricky's! Long Beach is a very big beach about 20 minutes drive away.

Hotel and staff lovely and rooms smart and comfortable. Food expensive and very small portions rather than "nouveau cuisine" Breakfasts repetitive and not good quality- eg tinned fruit salad rather than fresh fruit Drinks from bar very expensive _€5 for a cup of tea. Beautiful location but no transport links or footpaths so a car is essential if you want to explore anything of the area. Hotel needs more information and links to excursions. Excursion to Archipelago del La Maddelena is a must- we were lucky enough to find 1 going from Baja. Shuttle bus to Porto Cervo very sparse in October. We were not told that hotel was closing on 15th October and had to wait around with no facilities since our flight was later in the evening.

The hotel is lovely and charming but not 4 star. The rooms and cleaning staff are excellent. Lovely pool and nice private beach. You DEFINATELY need a car otherwise you will find yourself stranded. There is no local transport as far as I am aware just a shuttle bus from the hotel to Puerto cuevo. We are there at the present and there is very little open in Puerto Cuevo. The restaurant staff are first class and make you feel very welcome but the food is certainly not 4 star. The breakfast is very repatitive and I think the chef could do better. We have just returned from the Bristol Hotel in Lake maggiore which is a 4 star and you can't compare the menu. The food is definately not worth the money. I think if the menus were more realistic then they would have more people eating evening meals.

Booked direct as a B&B. Nice hotel, very clean - the smell is amazing from the biggest diffuser I have seen in my life. Reception staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Nice double room, kept clean and well maintained. Breakfast - simple help yourself, but once its gone its gone. Sometimes the service wasn't the best, slightly miserable. Didn't have lunch from the pool bar. Dinner - we chose to eat in the restaurant for our first night. It was £35 per person for a choice of 4 courses. Must admit the 4 choices were quite random, but hey hoe, we wanted to at least try it. Arrived at 8 pm and we were back in our room, fed the 4 courses, drank a bottle of wine by 8.40 pm. I have never in my life been served so quickly - we were aghast AND we took our time. The portions were very minimalistic to say the least and we did enjoy what we had but we were hungry after we had finished it. It really was a couple of mouthfuls and it was gone. But what we couldn't get over was the speed each course was served at so really not worth £100 total at all. Our next few nights we ate out locally, chose what we wanted, with wine and only cost £70 Difficult to rate this hotel really - Hotel was lovely and would recommend. It has a private access to a lovely beach which is down a sandy lane with sunbeds and a lifeguard. Pool - lovely and clean - lifeguard there very friendly and attentive. Sunbeds very comfortable and plenty available (it was end of season) Drinks - expensive. G&T £15 and small bottle beer £8 Food - Breakfast - nice coffee, help yourself buffet style - nothing to rave about. Dinner - really be prepared. It was nice but very rushed and very small portions. Would we go back - probably not, but thank you.

A very nice hotel situated in beautiful gardens and a peaceful setting. Close to Porto Cervo, and within easy access to the amazing beaches of the Costa Smeralda, but you will need a car. Hotel restaurant served excellent food, a they have fantastic pool area and private beach. I found the hotel very clean and the staff were very pleasant. This is a quality hotel with nice clientele who are looking for a relaxing stay. Rooms were comfortable, and I can find no fault in our stay. It’s great value for money. I would highly recommend ale Ginestre and if I return I’d happily stay here again. The only suggestion I would make is that I would have preferred a kettle or coffee machine in my room, and this could be something for the hotel to consider adding for its guests. All in all, this was a lovely stay.

If you want to risk booking direct paying in advance turning up in high season and having no room then consider the risk. 100 countries first time experience unbelievable! Offered cheap motel style room at sister hotel sold as a ‘special’ upgrade. Doors to the room were plywood! Eventually spoke to GM and suggested he should find at his expense a better hotel which eventually happened checked in 10 pm after a lot of stress and heated discussion not recommended. Please don’t take the risk !!!!!!

Dear Mr Mark, we were very disappointed and surprised when we read your review! Upon your arrival, the room you booked was ready in our sister hotel. We also gave you an upgrade to a superior room and you were satisfied at the time. We shook hands in agreement and all seemed to be weel... We hope you had a pleasant stay in our enchanted island. Best regards GM

We had a good break in this lovely hotel. The room was large, well decorated and clean. Bed comfortable if firm. Nice balcony with garden view. Useful fridge and good air con. Beautiful pool area with comfortable sun beds and a large pool with a proper deep end as well as shallow part for little ones. Great view from the top terrace. Private beach has good facilities. Breakfast mainly good but buffet a bit samey by the end. We had dinner in the hotel three times - all fine, some parts excellent. Staff are friendly. Somethings to be aware of: The Place - You can't walk anywhere so would be a bit trapped without a car. It's an expensive place to hang around, you need to budget 100 euro a day each for lunch, dinner and drinks, and could easily spend more. There are many lovely beaches around but expect to 10-15 euro to sit on a sun lounger; you can find lots of places where you can just put your towel on the sand. The Hotel - Misses a few easy tricks that would make it feel more special - there is a weird ticket system for beach towels, which at least gives the bored life guards something to do, but which otherwise implies you are going to steal them - really? There are no robes in the room and the water provided in the room is charged for - unique in my experience of worldwide travel, certainly at the upper end. No kettle which is usual for Italy. Notable beaches - Portisco, Romazzino, Piccolo Pevero. Worth getting the ferry to La Maddeleine one day and exploring the small beaches on Caprera.

We started our holiday on Tuesday and were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. Our room was spacious with a lovely view of the gardens and sea beyond. There was a walk-in shower, it was immaculately clean and fresh. However there were no tea/coffee making facilities which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. There is a large outdoor pool with attached paddling pool with plenty of sun beds and a towel service, the attentive and polite bar staff on on hand for drinks. There is also a lunch/snack service on the terrace outside the bar. A short walk down to the private beach is about 5 mins, again there are sun beds and towels provided, there are also free kayaks although when we were there only two were available. The sandy beach is secluded and quiet and with the gorgeous emerald coloured sea it’s really stunning, the sea is quite shallow for about 75m, though a bit stoney. There is a restaurant for food at night, it was €55 for four courses, we chose not to eat there. Breakfast was buffet style and was was quite nice, however it wasn’t replenished and something’s ran out early. There is a free minibus service into Porto Cervo at 10.30, 13.00, 16.30 and 20.00, returning at the same time, BEWARE if you miss the bus back it’s a flat €20 fare back, extortionate for a 1min 50sec 0.8mile trip. Refreshments at the hotel are quite pricey expect to pay €5 for a cup of tea or a cappuccino, €7/8 for a glass of wine, €6/7 for a bottle of local beer, €5 for a 500ml bottle of water (the hotel doesn’t advise drinking the tap water). All in all it’s a beautiful hotel, very clean and relaxing with charming staff, however it can get pricey and if you want to explore you definitely need a car. Taxis are very expensive the taxi from Olbia train station was €80, the nearest traditional village SAN Pantaleo is €50 each way

General Overview The location is beautiful, great swimming pool, great staff, great service, short trip to Porto Cervo with a free shuttle and some amazing beaches. Food is generally fresh and creative. Private Beach with free canoes which is fabulous. The room Pretty standard and plain. No stand out feature. My daughter had a third bed set up in our room which was not too comfortable. Also if they put you on the bottom floor we didn't mind the many stairs but it was very noisy from the rooms above. We could hear every footstep, voice and bump. Breakfast Buffet Hot: scrambled egg, sausage, beans, bacon and boiled eggs. Toast Cold: cereal, milk, yoghurt, fruit, cheese ham, cakes & pastries. TIP: If you want hot food, get to breakfast before 10.00 am otherwise it is cold eggs & bacon... (even though breakfast is served till 10.30 am). The pool Beautiful pool - thick fluffy towels. Great comfortable loungers. Quiet & peaceful. Nice shower. Excellent staff member - so attentive and friendly. Perfect! We enjoyed the pool & setting. The Food Lunch - some nice options like pastas, burgers, salads, chicken nuggets and French fries. Food was good but very expensive. (e.g. French fries are 10 euros for a small portion) Dinner: we got half board - I would say the food in general is fresh, creative and very good BUT be careful if you are a family with kids as the food won't really appeal to children. It's very sophisticated and we really battled with our 11-year-old. She ended up eating pasta in tomato sauce and bread every night. Some options were a bit out there for us too. The Beach The beach has lovely loungers, a great shower, a life guard and is quite pretty. We also enjoyed the walk down to the beach. The beach is very stony so watch your feet. It also had a strange sulphur smell and we were disappointed that we didn't see any sea life like other beaches in Sardinia. We preferred to take our car where there are really stunning beaches (10 min drive) like Spiaggia La Celvia. Soft Sand, crystal water and great snorkelling. Improvements for a perfect rating: PRICES: this was out third trip to Sardinia and this was the real let down for us this trip. Drink prices we're extortionate. 6 Euros for an apple juice! All drinks and food are overpriced. You really want to relax and enjoy your holiday but instead you count pennies because the drinks are so expensive. At dinner my daughter was given the small breakfast glasses of apple juice and we were charged 6 Euros even for a teeny tiny glass. I pointed this out to management and they took 6 apples juices off my bill. So they were pretty fair but I still think the drinks are way overpriced. They need to keep breakfast hot until service is finished and offer a kids menu at dinner with simpler food. If you can - don't get a room on the bottom layer! To Finish - The service I must complete this review just by reiterating how professional and friendly the staff were! Excellent service from all.
