Agriturismo Antica Olivaia is a charming 17th century stone farmhouse nestled in a protected nature reserve and located near the ancient hill town of Orvieto. This recently restored country inn offers its guests six spacious rooms with en suite bathrooms, a beautiful private pool and breathtaking views of Orvieto and the Umbrian countryside. Conveniently located between three of Italy's most beautiful regions, it is the ideal place from which to discover the extraordinary Umbrian countryside and many towns such as Civita di Bagnoregio, Todi, Perugia, Assisi, Montefalco, Spoleto, Montepulciano, Montalcino, and Pienza. The owners, Marco and Daniela, prepare dinner 3 times a week for their limited number of guests and meals are eaten together family style on the veranda under the stars. Informal cooking lessons can also be organized in the afternoons usually in conjunction with dinners. Marco, Daniela and their furry friends look forward to welcoming you to the Antica Olivaia...A slow farm for a slow life!

This is a somewhat remote and very private agriturismo. We stayed in the room (private entrance) that was the wine cellar in its past life. Breakfasts were very personal. We opted for 2 dinners prepared by Marco ($26pp, if my recollection is correct). Both dinners were

The driving distance from Rome's Fiumicino Airport to Orvieto is 130 km if you are renting a car. Otherwise if you take the Regional train from Rome's central station "Termini" it takes about 1 hour and 10 mins. to get to Orvieto (ticket costs Euro 7.50/way) and then rent a car in front of the station (Avis or Hertz). You will need a car to reach our farmhouse as taxis can get expensive to/from Orvieto and this will also allow you to do some sightseeing in the countryside. - Marco, Owner
