My goal was to take my son to the Alpi di Suise for some hiking and an overnight in a rifugio, but figuring this out from the U.S. is challenging! (Even after poring over maps and a good Dolomites book) Thankfully, we chose this small family hotel (with a pool and a lovely spa!) as our base. We were SO grateful for the warm hospitality and extraordinary service from one of the owners (Andreas) and staff (Marie.) Both speak good English so communication was fine. Andreas suggested a rifugio (Sasso Piatto) that was the right distance away (3-4 hr. moderately challenging hike) for us, then Marie booked it and they were so kind to keep our luggage overnight so we only needed day packs. It was June 11, so early enough in the season that there was space open. (Many rifugios don't open until June...). They were even able to be flexible with our hotel dates, as bad weather was coming in and we wanted to hike a day sooner. They were so very accommodating and informative. This hotel is very quiet and our room at the top looked down the valley. Bulla itself is small (pop. 130), remote and very quiet - there are a few smaller guesthouses, a church from 1793, and a tiny bar at the trail head. The trail head at the end of the village leads (45 minute hike up) directly to Alpi di Suise. Perfect! Or you can take the little shuttle bus (hotel gives you free pass) from the hotel back down into Ortisei and take the lift up to Alpi di Suisi. Bulla (Pufuls) is approx. 15 minutes by bus from main square in Ortisei. There is a local bus schedule on the Val Gardena website. (From Seattle, we flew to Verona, train to Bolzano, and bus to Ortisei - then little bus back up the hill to Bulla (or cab for 25 E). I would definitely recommend this place as a good base for the area, if you want quiet, beautiful views, nice people and don't need to be in the tourist town. The food was good, the little bar was charming and it was just what we needed. The apartments they have looked nice, too. Pool was not heated (yet?) but lovely. Wi-fi in common areas, as we found in all smaller hotels. Loved our experience here.

There is no wifi in the room and wifi is very slow itself. TV channels have low signal. We had a room with a bath which was very cold because of bad window, floor was also very cold. Table water costs 1€ thats epic. Whole village has lost water and at the dinner waiter suggested to buy still water(which is more expensive than table water)instead of offering it as a table water replacement. Ski equipment room has bad ski boot heater, because in the morning ski boots are still wet and heater is cold, probably it heats couple hours per day. Warn furniture in the rooms. Hotel staff is really nice and friendly! Sauna and beer was the cherry of the day! Food is great, especialy when it's beef! And from main menu food looked really delicious! Missed cooked egg's and bacon for breakfast. Only boiled eggs as a warm food.

This is a beautiful family run gasthof in a small village in Val Gardena. Every time we come to Europe, staying with the Kasslater family, the proprietors of Sporthotel Platz, is the highlight of the trip. The culture, sport, food, people and geography combine to make an incredible unparalleled experience. Over the summer my family, including our 5 and 6 year old children took several meandering hikes through the Seiser Alm that were up to 30 mile trips including gondolas, horse drawn sleighs, chairlifts and of course hiking. Every few hours we stopped at a hillside restaurant and enjoyed some food and drink amid the towering Dolomite cliffs. Then return to the comfort and cuisine of Sporthotel Platz. Occasionally locals show up with their accordions and spontaneous dancing starts up. It really is the best.

This was our third visit to the hotel but our first in winter. We were welcomed back by the very friendly team. Marie in reception does everything possible to help and make your stay enjoyable. Nothing is too much trouble. Andreas, Leopold and their team made us so welcome. Breakfast is quite a feast with everything you could want to set you up for the day. Dinner is excellent value and more than you can eat. Very tasty and well presented. Rooms are comfortable with balconies and wonderful views of the Seceda from one side of the hotel. The location is lovely. Very peaceful. There is a bus to Ortisei but a car is really necessary is you want to explore the area to the full. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

We will go back to this hotel! It was just what we wanted - close enough to Ortisei to take the free shuttle (which stops right by the hotel), or drive if you have a car (we did both), but part way up the mountainside for the peaceful retreat. We booked this hotel based upon the breathtaking views and other reviewers comments. We found the photos, descriptions and comments to be very accurate. A highlight was Marie who works at reception. She was incredibly friendly, warm, informative, enthusiastic and genuine. What a difference one person can make in one's travel experience - especially in a small, family-owned hotel. The hotel is up on the mountainside a few k from Ortisei. We loved tiny Bulla-Pufels which consists of a few hotels, B&Bs and small farms. We had a view of the valley below and surrounding mountains. Just walking up the hill took us to one of the many hiking trails available in the area. We enjoyed opening our windows and the cool evening air. The hotel is small enough that you get to see some of the same guests at meal times. The food was good enough that we chose to buy dinner a few nights, even though we did not sign up for half board. Our waitress at night was a lovely young woman who was apparently training some new staff. The breakfast waitress was not so friendly and came across rather matter-of fact, if not a bit irritable. She could be nice but it doesn't seem to come easily for her.
