This is a quite small camping with both bungalows as well as caravan and tent-sites. It is located by the beach with a shotr strecht of pine trees that separate it from the camping. The services are good with a small supermarket as well as a restaurant that serves really nice italian food, value for money.
The sandy beach is not wide but it is clean and the water is clear. The camping offers beach service and life guard. We really enjoyed our stay and will for sure come back here.

This is the first experience in a camping village in Italy. Usually we rent out an apartment or collonica close to seaside. Our kids (7 and 10) loved it. We liked it a little less. There was a lot for the children to do and the village was small enough that we really felt safe leaving them on their own to play with their newly found friends. I found the biggest fault that this village has is the service isn't consistent. Firstly, the restaurant. Service wasn't too bad although just about every day they either made a mistake on what we ordered or were super slow getting the various plates out so that we were all eating together. The food at the restaurant ok but again very inconsistent. You could order the same dish three times and each time it was different (no salt, over cooked, no spices, over-spiced burnt...ect...) They just couldn't get it right! There is a mini market which is very well supplied but the service was soooooo slow. One person cutting the bread, the cold cuts, at the cashier...it would take a half hour just waiting your turn to get some sandwiches made! The beach was super small (very narrow, only three rows of umbrellas) and by the end of the two weeks the tide started taking away what was left of the beach. The water is very low so the kids could go pretty far out and we didn't have to worry. For anyone into wind surfing it is your dream place. Lots of wind....lots and lots of wind....I ended up getting somewhat of an ear-ache from the wind! The funny thing is that in the village it is really pleasant but once you get onto the beach it is like walking into a wind tunnel. It could have been just our bad luck for those two weeks. The pool in the village is again nice for the children, but certainly not a place where adults can swim. It's enough just to sit in there. It is the size of an oversized sauna pool. Twenty kids in there and it is packed. My biggest complaint was not so much the animators....poor guys where out from early morning to late at night entertaining the children...more than anything else it was the actual CONTENT of "cabaret" nights which was at the very best very poor taste and at the very worst outright racist and sexist. I've never been so shocked by what I had seen and what was worse was that they were performing these awful skits in front of children aged 3 -12 for the most part with parents in the background feeling very uncomfortable. I plan to write to "animazione eventi" to complain and tell them they need a huge overhaul of their content which encouraged racism - inciting the kids to scream at this African house cleaner to "go back to africa!" (I swear to God my mouth hit the floor!). There was highly sexual content which was absolutely NOT suitable for children and even one skit where this husband who finds out his wife is cheating on him and he starts hitting her!!! WHAT???? Totally unacceptable and honest to God I don't know what kept me from telling them to just stop! I truly don't blame the animators as they most probably were executing what was taught to them during their training....but I hate to think of what the foreigners especially some of the black guests in the camping site might have thought of Italians and their "sense of humour" which was totally inappropriate! (I can only hope they didn't understand a word)

Dear Client, while we certainly appreciate the review and the points you made, we can only admit to the fact that our village is most definitely a family oriented resort. It was intended this way and we recommend it to parents with small children. The size of the resort is also very suitable for kids. Parents know they can wonder off because in the end they cant really go very far. Families living close to each other also favors interaction and gives children the chance to make new friends, which is really important at their age. We are more concerned about the remarks about the animators, and we surely will look into it, although it is something we hear now for the first time after a long and busy season.

We were having a great time until the evening when we attended the ‘baby dance’, which our 5 year old and 6 year old were desperate to go to. At the dance they started playing fat man scoop and over the loud speaker came ‘who’s Fxxking tonight? Who’s fxxking tonight?. We kindly pointed out quietly to the staff that it might not be age appropriate. Being in English they might not have realised. Instead of doing the right thing and changing track, the women on the microphone and main organiser said at full volume in front of all the parents that we should go and live in a convent with the nuns. And then shortly after said “ let’s start the next game and the swearing!
Won’t be going to the baby dance again!
Ever so sorry if I don’t want my 5 and 6 year old picking up the word Fxxking!

Me and 3 of my friends were told by coworkers to visit Argentario and found this camping village for a great price on trip advisor. We ended up visiting Argentario, but enjoyed being at Il Gabiano more. The village is located on a gorgeous beach, the food/wine were great and all of the staff were extremely nice and helpful. We certainly didn't want to leave! Would recommend this place to any of my friends!

The camping is very nice, located in a typical pinewood on the seaside offers a beautiful location for a vacation!!

The camping stands are large, the area very clean, tidy and quiet; all camping facilities are new and clean.

The swimming pool, animation and evening shows make this place perfect for families and couples looking for a relaxing seaside vacation!

The staff is very polite and ready to help; I can warmly suggest this camping village to everyone!!

We are two New Zealanders travelling in our large motorhome. We left Rome and found that today is a national public holiday (Assumption Day) and all of Italy is on holiday! The camps were all full to overflowing. There were several campgrounds in amongst the pine trees between the road and the sea north of Orbetello and we were lucky at the forth one we stopped at.

Gabbiano Camping Village had just one pitch available at €39 a night, so we squeezed our motorhome in where they directed us, surrounded by all the Italian families enjoying the holiday. The receptionist was so helpful and friendly, as was the young man who drove us to show us where to pitch - great customer service!

We took a look at the beach which was sand (not pebbles) but the swimming was shallow and the beach was crowded; we much preferred to cool off in the lovely modern swimming pool.

There was a central bbq area and there was a huge cookup going on there at dinner time and later there was a disco going on but the music stopped before midnight. It was a nice campsite with great facilities; it would be lovely outside of the high season when not so crowded.

Pros: The beach, pool and playground are all very close to the villas. The village is very small and this makes it easier for the children to get to know each other and find each other easily. The sea is very beautiful and has two shallow waters a few meters from the shore and this allows the little ones to have more fun. On the beach there is both an equipped area (umbrellas and deckchairs for a fee) and a free area a few meters from the access to the sea. There are showers to remove the sand. There is a lifeguard available to guests all day. The brick villas are cool and there is no need to turn on the air conditioning. They are equipped with everything (the only flaw is that the kitchenette is located in one of the bedrooms). Very large bathroom. There is animation... but with many reservations about it

Points to improve: almost non-existent market and with jewelery prices. A 200g pack of biscuits for 7 euros is a robbery. The restaurant follows the same style as the market. Very high prices, even for pizzas. Be careful to book umbrellas and deckchairs before your arrival on the property's website because you may not find availability once you arrive. The beach is located in the center of the gulf and is therefore very exposed to the winds. Often in the afternoon the sea is rough. The pool is very small and overcrowded in the afternoon and the color of the water goes from intense blue to a faded green... not very healthy. Pool in the shade in the afternoon and therefore the water is always very cold.

The last point is on animation. Thanks to the 4 animators, all very young and with their first experiences. And so I must say that they try... despite having few means at their disposal and almost no training. But they were able to create sympathy towards them and this is a credit. However, I must say to the structure that the entertainment team must also have a bit of experience and organisation. It also can't finish everything at 10.30pm every night as there is no other entertainment after that.
A big point of merit instead goes to the miniclub and to the entertainer GIORGIA: She's very young but she's really passionate about children and this shines through. Attentive and caring, she will know how to take care of your little one, allowing you to rest a little without worries or anxieties.
