My family and I stayed here for a few days after Christmas and through the new year. Benedetta, our host was a delightful and generous host. Our rooms were luxurious and elegantly furnished with comfortable beds and a small bottle of wine to welcome us. We dinned several times at the wine bar on the first floor and it was as excellent as the rooms. Everyone was wonderful and I cannot recommend this place enough.
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we were not disappointed! The drive in is magical - beware you need to drive through the tight city walls! Communication was clear and helpful. Check in was great. We had a welcome drink then a small gift in the room. Beds were super comfortable, great bathroom, very good breakfast and best of all, amazing views. This is not a place to miss out on! They were so helpful in booking wine tours, answering questions about where to eat and what to do. The hospitality was some of the beat we received. Would def go back.
La Locanda is a lovely four bedroom hotel/b&b right by a church at the the top of an overlook that was one of the most breathtaking views in Tuscany. Benedetta was very helpful with everything before we arrived, and the directions were super useful as Montepulicano is very confusing as to where you can and can’t drive. We stayed in the suite, and though we wound up not using the upstairs nook very much, it was very pretty up there and if we’d had more time in town I would have liked to read a book up there on a rainy day (Speaking of rainy days, we did have one very rainy day, but truth be told it was just as beautiful!) The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom really spacious with lovely local bath products. It was very quiet in our room both day and night and outside our window was a gorgeous view of the town with the smell of wood smoke and the occasional church bells ringing. We had a great breakfast every morning (there was a brioche type of bread that came with the toast that was just delicious). Benedetta gave us some restaurant and enoteca (wine bar) recommendations (our fave and one of the best (and well priced) meals we had in Italy was at Osteria Del Borgo just down the street, and for foodies a fabulous tasting menu at L’Altro Cantuccio). There is a wine bar attached to the hotel which is apparently one the best spots in town but it was closed for the week we were there - it looked awesome though! We probably would have spent a lot of time there. Montepulciano is like a dream place - beautiful winding streets you could happily get lost in. I hope someday we will get back there and if we do we’d definitely stay at La Locanda again! …
We had a wonderful stay in Montepulciano. The hostess Benedetta was very helpful and gave us tips and advice for the neighborhood. She also made reservations at amazing restaurants and a wine tasting for us. The room was nice, well spaced and clean. The windows gave us a view over Montepulciano. The breakfast in the restaurant below the hotel was a la carte and very fresh. Parking in front of the hotel near the church was challeging and driving from and to the hotel is a bit difficult in the small streets of Montepulciano. However if you just go for it, it will work out.
We will always remember our stay in July 2019. A superb view, serenity, and high quality of cuisine. Very good staff also. The city of Montepulciano is exceptional due to the absence of publicity and fast foods. Lots of historical visits possible in historical palaces and churches. Tourists yes but not herds.
It is difficult to describe the beauty of this hotel. At the arrival day we were welcomed by Benedetta with a glas of wine and she gave us all necessary information about the hotel and the city. Rooms are very nice and at least ours had an astonishing view over the landscape from all windows! The place is very quiet and you can really relay for some days. The also have a nice decorated living room where you can read in peace a book or even have a short power nap. I really recommend this hotel!
The hotel's location in Montepulciano is great! Right at the top of the town and close to everything! We loved it. Attached to the hotel is a wine bar and restaurant, so when we arrived we entered the restaurant and Lucca was so friendly and offered wine and snacks for arrival. Our suite room was absolutely lovely! The bathroom was the largest in our entire Italy stay! Double sinks and large shower! The view from our room and the hotel was absolutely stunning. We also liked the breakfast; they made egg omelettes and had a variety of breakfast foods that were fresh and delicious. One thing that was exciting for us, was that we were there for the Christmas Market! The town was decorated so beautiful and the market was a lot of fun! We will be back and thank you Lucca and Benedetta for everything! Was a lovely three night stay!…
I can't say enough about this hotel! We followed the nav and it took us through the middle of town to get to the hotel (we found out later on about a simpler way to get in and out). When we arrived we were checked in in the attached wine bar with complementary wine and snacks. We also arrived just in time for the beautiful sunset right across from the hotel. Incredible! Breakfasts in the main room were so good, our room was beautiful with views from both sides, and the attached wine bar was a great place to end the day with a great glass of wine, snacks and again that gorgeous sunset with views for miles. We can't wait to go back!
What a wonderful warm welcome we got . We drove the wrong way around and were pretty stressed and when we arrived we were offered wine and nibbles to destress. The room was beautiful. The breakfast delicious. The hosts were extraordinarily warm and friendly in a very discreet way . Our only regret is that we didn’t have more time to spend there . If I was on honeymoon I’d make it top of my list . We hope to back . Truly wonderful and of course as is Montepulciano itself
Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2019. We visited Montepulciano 3 years ago and stayed at a different small hotel and when we were wandering around we ate at the restaurant attached to this small hotel. It only has 4 rooms but I think it is in the best location in town-right at the end of the town overlooking the valley below. Follow the instructions on their website to get to the hotel and DO NOT uses GPS. I forget we had the instructions and got lost and ended up on some crazy narrow streets. I called the hotel and Benedetta drove to where we were and we followed her to the hotel. There is free parking next to the hotel in Piazza San Francisco, great air conditioning, very comfortable bed and pillows, and a nice breakfast included. They also own the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel building. I would stay there again.…
