This was our SECOND time staying at Relais Ortaglia! I wrote a review back in June after our first stay and can wholeheartedly say that we just never want to leave when visiting this place! We love it so much and decided to plan our Fall trip around Relais Ortaglia’s availability (we were in Italy for 17 days & here the longest of our stops, intentionally). Sandy & Phil are now some of our favorite people and Relais Ortaglia holds a special place in our hearts! A few thoughts/tips about this place: -Sandy makes the best breakfast you’ll ever have, I live for her quiche! (Also, Phil’s cappuccino is top notch) - Every room is impeccable- Clean, cozy, beautiful aesthetic & stocked with everything you need. We stayed in San Donato in June & Voltaia in October. The pictures are outstanding but even better in person. - Take their advice!! Sandy and Phil know the region and are very well connected. We had the most amazing trip(s) because of their recommendations. - The property is breathtaking. It was so lovely to go for a hike every morning amongst the vineyards and olive groves. - My husband was able to check in with work on occasion thanks to their awesome business center. He could login remotely and access anything back in the states with fast connection. We can’t wait to get back to Relais Ortaglia and will always plan our trips to Italy around their availability!

Property's Favorite Review
The best place I’ve ever stayed! I have been lucky enough to stay in some amazing hotels & bed and breakfasts around the world… the views are incredible… the facilities are top notch… The food is scrumptious, it was the best breakfast we had in Italy! What Sandy and Phil have created here is truly breath taking. You can see from all of their hard work and in the details of Relais Ortaglia that they have truly put their passion into making this villa an extraordinary place to stay. It all starts with one truly magical location and ends at the end of the day where they hang twinkle lights all over the property so when you come back from dinner it looks like a little fairies have descended to light your way to your room. The rooms are the largest I have stayed in Tuscany… they are filled with all the modern conveniences yet has left a true Tuscan charm & character of a 500-year-old villa. The breakfast is made fresh every morning by Sandy. Sweet and savory, fruits cut in designs you've never seen before… muffins of every shape and size… exquisitely decorated crostatas… and cappuccinos with cocoa art by Phil.  And of course, the mornings are not complete without hugs and kisses from their red standard poodle cooper.  Communicating with Sandy and Phil before during and after our stay was seamless and easy. They helped plan and arrange all our activities while we were at Relais Ortaglia and the most impressive part, was they even helped us book hotels, excursions, and restaurants before and after our stay. This customer service and dedication to our having a wonderful vacation was one of the best services and values that we found. Going to each excursion, vineyard, restaurant, and farm we felt like and were treated as if we were royalty, or better yet, like one of their family. We were always given the best seat in the house… or a glass of prosecco… or a special tour or complementary dessert… it is evident that they have assimilated into this community and become very valuable and beloved part of it. This is not our first trip nor will be at last… we are now part of the growing Relais Ortaglia family. A big thank you to Sandy Phil & Cooper! If you ever go to the historic, incredible town of Montepulciano, make this bed and breakfast your number one place to stay! Morgan C. Miami, FL USA

When you turn off the main road onto the gravel drive, the curiosity builds in anticipation of what you are about to experience! At first you notice the rustic signage, Relais Ortaglia, then the charming stone building surrounded with large Italian cypress trees and carefully placed natural flower beds. The details start to emerge…the simple railing, the wooden swing overlooking the vineyards and olive groves, the well manicured gardens, and the tiny vintage Fiat parked in the shed. We entered the main building and noticed the charm and attention to detail at every turn. Immediately we felted more relaxed, like we were finally at our well deserved retreat after a very long day, anxious to soak it all in. A tour of the rustic Italian kitchen, a large breakfast area and the well appointed bedroom was a continuation of what we now expected. The attention to detail was impressive! The sun was setting so we quickly toured the outdoors, walked around the pool, the gardens, other outbuildings, the wine tasting room and more. The strategically placed landscape lights created a dramatic glow on the walkways, buildings and trees, and everywhere we turned was like a postcard! It was so nice to see so many little nooks where we could sit and relax both inside and out. And it was quiet. You can see the town of Montepulciano in the near distance, and the whole property is surrounded by so many vistas everywhere you turn that you can’t even tell where it ends! We just stood there soaking it all in! Now that we have experienced this little slice of heaven, we look forward to our next visit where maybe we can stay longer!

Incredible hosts, views, rooms, food and dog! Sandy and Phil will meet all your needs and more...from hanging out watching the beautiful sunsets to arranging any restaurant or activity reservation you need, along with great recommendations. Sandy even directed me to the one little shop in Montepulchiano for a last minute bathing suit and have to say, have not had that much fun shopping for clothes in many years. Would highly recommend their beautiful b and b as the perfect location in the Tuscan countryside to take day trips to many lovely towns and still be only 1.5 hrs away from Florence and Rome.

My husband and I LOVED staying with Sandy, Phil and of course, Cooper (their poodle pup!) Our room was immaculate and so comfy, the breakfast was out of this world EVERY MORNING and fully complimentary! Make sure to get so of the olive oil from their own property! It’s delish! They even stocked curated bottles of wine in the room for you so you don’t have to lug wine back from town with you wondering what wil be good! We hope to come back to Relais Ortaglia VERY soon! Thanks for being one of the highlights of our Italy trip, Sandy and Phil!

My wife and I stayed at Relais Ortaglia for 10 nights in mid-October 2022, using it as a home base as we explored Tuscany, including day trips to Sienna and Florence, as well as nearby hill towns from Montalcino to Cortona. Sandy & Phil are wonderful hosts and made sure we started each morning with a hearty breakfast, and they helpful throughout our trip with recommendations and advice. The property is fantastic, and we highly recommend Relais Ortaglia. We look forward to visiting again someday!

This is our third time visiting Relais Ortaglia… We loved it so much that we booked Sandy Phil and Cooper’s amazing Villa for Christmas and New Years for 19 days… It the best time we have ever had! It was so much fun that we called our friends at home and they were on a plane within 24 hours and joined us! We went snowshoeing, we climbed Mt. Miata, we did cooking classes, we went to the Christmas market, we went to Babbo Natale’s house, we met Santa Claus, we had been Brule and hot chocolate in the Piazza while Mariah Carey was playing continuously all I want for Christmas is you… Montepulciano is magical! Relais Ortaglia is magical! They planned a full day excursion for us to go to FLORENCE at their favorite hotel… SANDY even booked us private appointments at Chanel and Christian Dior with her contacts… there is nothing this woman cannot do for you! The children most especially loved it so much, that they were upset when it was time to go. So we came back for Spring break and brought with us a different set of friends! This time… Sandy booked us a private trip to Rome and a trip to Positano! Our favorite was truffle hunting!! We have been traveling to Italy for so long, we forgot what it was like to visit like tourists! I don’t ever want to travel to Italy without stopping in Montepulciano! And now we have someone that shows us different sides of Italy! We appreciate the extra care given! Thank you!

Incredible views and hospitality. This was the perfect place to come unwind after traveling throughout Italy. The property is stunning and very well kept…luscious gardens full of wildflowers, sunsets over the vineyards, infinity pool…. Daily breakfast was definitely a highlight and I absolutely loved the fresh flowers in the room. Cooper was definitely a highlight of the trip, and both Sandy + Phil we’re always so friendly and helpful. You 1,000% need a car to drive around Tuscany. During our stay, we booked tours and made reservations all from Sandy’s guide and each and everyone of them was amazing. Highly recommend the truffle hunting followed by cooking class, cheese making demo + farm tour at Podere il Casale, and a tour + gourmet lunch at Avignonesi. The drives to each varied but they were all less than half an hour away from the property. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I needed a place where I could relax and work peacefully and at the same time enjoy the beauty of the land. Sandy and Phil made my stay really unique and special. Rooms are big, clean and offer incredible view of the countryside. From 7am you will be spoiled with the best breakfast cooked for you by Sandy. Simply amazing! Can’t wait to come back during the summer to enjoy the infinity pool and their bespoke Negroni!

My wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon in mid October and had an incredible experience. The building itself has been updated to be modern and comfortable while maintaining its 17th century charm. We stayed in the Gracciano which had a luxurious king size bed and updated bathroom. The room had beautiful flowers from the garden and a basket of welcome snacks upon our arrival. Sandy, Phil and Cooper were excellent hosts who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived til the moment we left. They are valuable resources for reccomendations, stories, and the occasional belly rub.. mostly from Cooper. Another highlight was the daily breakfast which was a generous serving of sweet & savory baked goods, fresh fruit and local yogurt. We look forward to returning and exploring more of what Tuscany has to over and seeing what Sandy has cooking next! Highly Reccomended!
