An elaborate breakfast is served each morning and we choose the option of a Tuscan style BBQ in the vineyard for one of our meals. The owners Sandy and Phil Ferretti will make you feel like old friends in no time at all. We enjoyed spending time with their dog Cooper as well. Sandy had many wonderful suggestions of things to do and see. If hiking is your thing, they are many great opportunities to get out on foot and explore. We will be going back to stay with them again in the fall, after this trip we couldn’t possibly think of staying anywhere else. The Tuscan BBQ for 2 had enough food to feed a family of 5-6. Everything was outstanding! The views were 🤩. I would choose to stay here over and over again.

Property's Favorite Review
This is our 3rd or 4th time at Relais Ortaglia. We live in Florence, Italy, and love the Val D’Orcia, and when we want to get away with the kids for a quick weekend, this has become our spot. The location is incredible. Relais Ortaglia’s vicinity to Montepulciano and Pienza (our 2 Favorite places in all of Tuscany) is perfect, and the views from Relais Ortaglia are unforgettable. As soon as we arrive here, we can feel the stress leave us... but perhaps the gems of Relais Ortaglia are the people who run it: Sandy and Phil Ferretti, who’ve become friends. In their hands, we truly relax. They love kids and there is tons for kids to do here— the kids know Sandy and Phil now, and immediately run to check on the chickens, whether they’ve laid eggs, they climb the olive trees, pick cherries and figs, play with Cooper the fabulous kid-friendly dog and the new kittens Gucci and Pucci, enjoy the swimming pool. We all take daily walks through the vineyards and just stop! The icing on the cake are the evening bbqs with the stunning sunsets that the Val D’Orcia offers, and the insanely fabulous breakfast that Sandy whips up every day. We never want to leave and we always find ways to come back! Our home away from home!! Thank you Sandy and Phil!!

Thank you so much for your most amazing review of Relais Ortaglia… Each and every time you visit us in the countryside we love having you… You are a wonderful family and it brings us much joy to see your two children running around with Cooper and the chickens and the baby cats and playing in the garden. We enjoy our long walks in the Vineyards. We cannot wait for you to return!

Our stay at Relais Ortaglia in Montepulciano was fantastic! The property is on a hill overlooking vineyards. AND is within walking distance of the center of Montepulciano. Unless you have been here before, having Sandy and Phil Ferretti, the Owners of Relais Ortaglia, as your local guides is invaluable. Sandy, an American who has chosen to live in this wonderful part of Italy, seems to know everyone important in the area. AND they know her!! Her recommendations for restaurants, hiking and wine tours were invaluable. Without her input and active participation to secure reservations, our trip would have been disappointing. the Ferretti’s are truly “full service” hosts. On our first full day in Tuscany, we followed Sandy’s recommendation and hiked from their house to Monticchiello; 4.5 miles. We started by crossing the vineyards surrounding Relais Ortaglia! Then we walked down an unpacked country road. At Monticchiello, we had cold beers and a light snack. Our choice then was to hike back OR continue on to Pienza; about 5 miles away. We chose that. In Pienza we had a lovely dinner with a fabulous bottle of Brunello. Sandy then got us a taxi for the return trip. A WONDERFUL day in Tuscany! The main house of the property itself is over 400 years old. Yet the the rooms have all you would expect of a high-end establishment. Breakfast was also an experience. Each day brought a new treat cooked and served by Sandy and Phil. You won’t get standard bacon and eggs. You will be served home-made quiche or frittata or waffles; simply delightful!! Finally, you will feel like you are staying at a house where you can relax and enjoy the experience! We could not give Relais Ortaglia higher praise!! John Marsala

We have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly in accommodations over our 3 year military assignment in Italy. Relais Ortaglia rises to the top of the list! Sandy and Phil (and their sweet dog Cooper) make you feel like part of the family right off the bat. Our bed was super comfortable, the newly tile bathroom was immaculate, our kids took advantage of the pool, I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the view and sunset (!), my clothes certainly fit tighter after 3 days of Sandy’s incredible breakfast. We will return to see our new friends ~ hopefully soon!

Amazing, wonderful, beautiful.... I spent a magic vacation in this paradise. Relais with its garden is a place where I can live forever. Big garden with fruit plants and flowers. Silent everywhere apart the sound of balm crickets. My dream... a big pool where I could swim in peace with myself. Room was clean and I found towels, good quality products and any kind of drinks. What can I say for breakfast.... I was atonish... Everything was homemade and I felt like a queen. Sandy made cakes, tarts, waffles, quiche, eggs... omg so good. Phil.. his coffee woke me up with a big smile. Cooper, their dog ... so cute and Maria so sweet. I found a family and friends there and I hope to come back soon.
