Great breakfasts and ultra super helpful hosts. I would highly recommend this for a trip to this part of Tuscany. It is very conveniently located and Sandy & Phil couldn't be more helpful. I am so glad that we went.
Amazing experience and worth every penny. Do not think twice! Sandy and Phil have curated not only the perfect b&b stay but they have also figured out your whole itinerary (so helpful) and know all the best and secret Tuscany spots to visit (what more could you ask for) so really, the only thing you need to do is show up and they have go you covered. Absolutely incredible 2 nights and I cant't wait to return.
The location is spectacular. The facilities were charming and spacious. Susan, Phil and Cooper couldn't have been better hosts. The breakfasts were amazing. We are world travelers and have never had a better hotel experience. Ever.
My wife and I stayed at the Relais Ortaglia for five nights at the beginning of September, 2019. It was a wonderful experience, one of the very best on our six week holiday in Italy, Switzerland, and France. The Agriturismo is absolutely beautiful with lovely grounds tended by industrious Maria and run by owners Sandy and Phil, two of the nicest and most competent people you are likely to meet. We stayed in room "San Donato" - a comfortable and very attractive room with a view to Montepulciano and a delightful private mini roofed porch with a stunning view over the vineyard covered hills. The room and porch are on the second floor with a private set of steps leading down to the swimming pool and to a large, roofed seating area with a view to Montpulciano. The room had a fan, air conditioner, shower, hot tub, comfortable double bed, refrigerator, complementary robes, and lovely decorative touches. It was private and very quiet. The pool was just the right temperature and was a delight at the end of a busy day. The pictures posted at the website do not do justice to how well sited and beautiful the Relais Ortaglia is -- a true Tuscan dream. Sandy's and Rick's breakfasts were splendid with Sandy's fresh quiche, fruit juices, meats, cheeses, fruits, bread, pastries, cereals and what my wife described as the best coffee on our trip ( unfortunately no hot chocolate! ). Sandy and Rick are as friendly and helpful as you could hope. We had planned a walk to Montefelonico and Sandy called the 13 Gobbi restaurant and made reservations for us ( we enjoyed their specialities of flat noodles stirred in a large round of Pecorino cheese and their wild boar stew ). Sandy and Rick are environmentalists. They heat their boiler with dried olive pits and have a solar water heating system on the roof. They plan to add more systems to reduce the carbon footprint of the Relais Ortaglia. Also, Montepulciano is a short ( 20-25 minutes ) walk from the Relais along a delightful back road. After our various excursions it was pure pleasure to return to our beautiful room, go for a swim, enjoy a picnic of the local food and wine, and put the sun to bed with a glass of lemoncello. We had an absolutely glorious 5 days staying at the Relais Ortaglia and sincerely miss Sandy, Rick, Maria, Cooper the friendly Poodle, the chickens, the breakfasts, the flowers, the swims, and the sunsets over the vineyards.
