Our first visit to this region was an incredibly wonderful experience. One of the highlights was our stay with Giorgio and Ivana. They are the ultimate host and hostess. We were welcomed from our very first step into their home. We would definitely return to Montepulciano to stay at the Meuble Il Riccio. Thank you both.

Our room had a beautiful view of the Val di Chiana and the breakfast of homemade pastries was excellent. What really distinguished Il Riccio was our host's helpfulness: when we called from outside the city wall to ask about parking (the lot with the hotel's usual spaces had been commandeered by the city for the Christmas market) he came with his van to lead us to approved parking and give us a ride to the hotel. Our hosts also went the extra mile on departure, getting up early to get us breakfast and check us out. We look forward to returning. The only drawback I can think of was that the bathroom was small and short of counter space (not unusual in independent hotels). Also, it's on the second floor of its building and our room was on the third; we didn't need or look for an elevator and happily used the stairs, but others may need to ask about that.

This was our second stay at Mueble il Riccio, after having a memorable visit several years ago. This time, we brought our son and 91 year old mother, who thankfully was was able to negotiate the 2 flights of stairs. The hosts, Gio, Ivana, and Simona were warm and helpful and always available to answer a question. They really made us feel like guests! The setting for this beautifully decorated hotel can't be beat, just off the Piazza Grande, with beautiful views from our rooms, plus one with a balcony! With parking included and close by, we were able to use Montepulciano as a base for day trips over several days. The Breakfast which included delicious pastries made by Ivana was worth the 8 euros.

Loved this place, just as described in Rick Steve’s Italy Travel Book. Met the owners and they were most gracious....! Right in the middle of town. Hotel gave us great suggestions for meals and side trips. We WILL go back.....
