This is the most beautiful place! Joe says it's been in his family for 7 generations and it is perfection. We are here in December for the Christmas Markets and there could not be a better location. This would actually be a great location for everything though, it's right in the heat of Montepulciano. How was able to give us some great restaurant recommendations and his wife makes amazing coffee. We asked for the room with the view, room #33. Worth it!!! The balcony and views make you want to sit there with a bottle of wine and relax all day. I would come back to this place every time!

Hotel's Favorite
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in September. We chose this location so that we could explore Tuscany over the course of a few days. It did not disappoint. The friendliness of the owner and his family was welcoming and quite special. The superior rooms were already booked so we opted for a standard room with a valley view. We were not disappointed. It was a gorgeous view. For a reasonable charge, a breakfast was served in the lobby. We enjoyed this one of the mornings. The pastries were delicious and the coffee was very good. I highly recommend this hotel. If you are a Twilight lover, this is around the corner from a very famous courtyard scene in New Moon. We did not stay here for this but it is something additional to consider if you are a fan. One note if you have a lot of luggage, be prepared to tote it up several stairs. This of course is to be expected due to the nature of this historic building. The parking is a few minutes walk and quite convenient in terms of how the town is set up. This was well worth it. Overall you can't beat the price, quality, and charm of this hotel.

This hotel was great, the view was spectacular! We stayed in room 32, and it was worth every penny for that view. My only complaint would be the bed, my back killed the next day. But it's all for the view.

Nice property in the centre of Montepulciano. They have their own reserved parking spots in a public lot but were poor in communicating where the lot is located. If you have a lot of luggage, be warned that you will be wheeling or carrying it over cobble stoned streets for 5+ minutes to and from the parking area. There is no drop off spot near the hotel since it's in the red zone. There are numerous restaurants nearby as well as a few tasting rooms. Thought the breakfast was just okay considering it was mainly pastry and cereal.

I chose this for our first night in Italy based on prior ratings, as it was a reasonable drive from Rome, and I am a fan of the wines of this area. It did not disappoint—this is a really special inn. The owner and staff made us feel like family, and the location in the heart of the old town was very convenient to explore. We had a very nice lunch and dinner at two separate places just a short walk from the inn. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a view out to the valley from one side, and the old town on the other. With a special permit you can drive up to the entrance of the inn, but parking is several blocks away on the edge of town, similar to many Italian hilltop villages. We had to leave too early the next day for the breakfast, but they were setting up and it looked very good.

A real treat and surprise to find such an atmospheric hotel at such a reasonable price! Run by an older couple (I can say so given my comparable age), it's full of antiques and other items; clean, quiet rooms; old building with inner courtyard; and two or three floors of rooms. Only slight negative is breakfast was quite limited, although the selection of cakes and pastries was ample and tasty. Located at top of village, with parking a hike away outside the walls. If you find it difficult to walk up and down steep cobblestone streets, you should inquire about how to get there.

We stayed overnight here and it was a perfect location for exploring the town and its wineries and cantinas. It is just steps away from the Cathedral and the Piazza Grande, the historic centre of Montepulciano. Cantina Talosa is opposite and Cantina Contucci is only a couple minutes away. You can do wine-tastings at both and at Cantina Talosa, we were able to walk down through their cellars which are set in deep underground tunnels and vaults. The location couldn’t be better. The hotel itself set within a charming old palazzo, which belonged originally one of Montepulciano old noble families. It’s full of historical charm. The entrance courtyard has arches, Tuscan travertine columns, potted plants and an historic religious mosaic. It’s worth noting that you do have to carry bags up some stairs from the courtyard. Service was genuinely warm, welcoming and friendly. They took the time to carefully show us the key system if we were returning late at night and to mark some restaurant recommendations on a map for us. Prior to our arrival, they were also very quick to answer any email questions we had. We booked a standard room, which was perfectly adequate and spacious enough to have our bags tucked out of the way. The room was quiet at night and the bed was comfy. I would certainly return. PARKING: Importantly, if you are driving, they have allocated spots in a nearby carpark. It’s on the other side of the piazza, near the fortress but this is only a short walk away. Make sure that you ask about the carpark when booking and they will reserve a spot for you. On arrival, the hotel will give you a parking permit. Its best to park first (to avoid those nasty ZTL zones and fines), then go and check in, get your permit and pop back and display it on your dashboard. Their instructions were very clear and easy to follow and, importantly, they forewarned us not to enter the town from the lower end (more ZTL zones), but to take the ring road around and enter near the fortress. In any case, they will email you full and detailed instructions.

This special property was our favorite our 11 day trip. We spent 2 nights and the room was generous and very comfortable and full of history. A bit hard to drive to but great hospitality. I would definitely stay again! We had a large room and private terrace. It had all the amenities- large bathroom with good shower, coffee in room, large bed, etc. All you could need! And in an historic castle

Perfectly located just off piazza grande, the hotel is breathtaking when you walk through the ancient old door into a beautiful courtyard. Mr Caroti warmly welcomed us. Our room #4 had a spectacular view over the town and valley. It was beautifully decorated and the large bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the hot water kettle and coffee. There is a lovely terrace on the rooftop. We chose not to purchase the breakfast. This hotel was perfect for our one night stay in Montepulciano. A final note about car parking in hopes of helping others in the future. When we booked the hotel we received the ZTL authorization which we printed. Our usual practice with these hilltop towns is to park somewhere and then go explore, find the hotel and investigate their parking. When we arrived Montepulciano we ended up parking near the Bus Station and walked in a very crowded eastern gate main entrance and then all the way up to piazza grande. When we met Mr Caroti he gave us a map and advised us to park in the P7 lot and with our ZTL we would not have to pay for parking overnight. We went ahead and had lunch and later in the afternoon collected car from the bus station lot and made our way to P7 and fortunate to get a spot. Since we knew what would be involved getting back to the hotel from P7 we only took one suitcase since only staying one night. There are a lot of stairs and steep cobbled streets. It is well worth the effort but just wanted to share our process!
