Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We stayed in the Grand Hotel Francia as part of a tour, so I cannot attest to the cost of the rooms. But, we were very happy with our room that had a windowed balcony door with somewhat of a view, including that of the pool. (It also had a view of a dilapidated pool as well as another building in disrepair, but we chose not to look that direction.) The door also had black out blinds if one chose to limit light.
A mirrored closet was next to the balcony door that was large enough to hold our suitcases, and there were drawers for clothes, etc, in the one side. A small safe was in side, but it was not very large. An ipad might have fit, but not anything larger. There was a television, but we never turned it on. Also, a relatively large desk beneath the TV if one needed to work, but we were on vacation.
The bathroom was quite large, and had a toilet as well as a bidet, with a very large walk in shower. Towels were large. No washcloths, but there were large linen towels for hand use. Shampoo/body wash was in a dispenser in the shower. A hair dryer was included with an outlet in the bathroom for use.
A small fridge stood next to one of the beds, tucked into a cabinet used as a bedside table. Others complained about the AC, but we had no issue. We also had no problem opening the balcony door to enjoy the cool night air.
The wi-fi worked great. Breakfast was included and was plentiful. Ffruit, yogurt and cereals, as well as hot food choices and pastries were just some of the choices. . The coffee was only brewed. No cappuccino to enjoy. There was daily freshening of the beds and bathroom.
There were two elevators for use to the upper floors, and a large central staircase if you chose not to use the elevator. Also, a delightful outside terrace to just sit and enjoy the ambiance.
The hotel features some beautiful meeting rooms as well as a very large restaurant on the bottom floor. As mentioned, there was a small pool, although we did not use it. One of the other guests on tour did enjoy using it without any issue.
I'd say that the rooms were quiet, as for most of the week, we did not have any issues with noise. However, on our last day, when it was obvious a new tour group had arrived, it was obvious that the walls are not that protected from noise, as we could hear conversations as if people were in the room with us. I suppose it is the luck of the draw and the consideration of the fellow traveler that will determine a peaceful stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Francia. It is within easy walk of the Funicular to the top of the mountain, as well local restaurants.
On the day of our departure, we needed to leave at 3:45 AM. The hotel staff had set up a small breakfast, including croissants, juices and coffees for us prior to our leaving. I found that to be quite surprising, and very much appreciated. Certainly a first for us in our travels!

I had the pleasure of staying two nights in this admirable hotel. It is located, first of all, in an excellent location (one of the main streets), the hall is splendid: full of paintings, sculptures and a tapestry that leaves you speechless. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. Among the services the hotel offers the possibility of spending time in the swimming pool in a relaxing environment. Breakfast was quite good, perhaps I would have expected it to be richer. The rooms are clean, simple but with all comforts. Advised.

This was such a beautiful hotel, and an easy walk from the train station, the funicular to Montecatini Alto, the thermal baths, and the downtown area. The room was very clean and comfortable. They told us we were given a complimentary upgrade when we checked in. To be honest, I would have been fine if we had a non-upgraded room in the back of the hotel. It was so very noisy in the mornings (early) with the tour groups getting ready for their day. The street noise from them, garbage trucks, etc. just floated up and into the room. We were also surprised that they give you an actual key, on a very bulky key chain. Thankfully I had a purse to put it in, would have been uncomfortable in a pants pocket.
We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel twice. They had a very nice breakfast buffet. You have to find and ask a staff person for a cappuccino if you want one, it is not offered when you are seated. And don't leave your cappuccino there if you go up for seconds, they clear the table. They have American coffee in the pot to help yourself to. The dinners were very nice too. The first night we had a lady serve us (sorry, I don't remember the names!). The next time we at the gentleman was our server, and he was not very friendly or attentive.
Overall, the hotel is lovely, the location is excellent and I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself in Montecatini Terme again!

We have just returned from an enjoyable week’s stay. From our point of view, there were a few negative issues. The website promises a most friendly hotel and we will be hugged. On arrival there was no welcome …we were promptly asked for our passports which were copied and returned with our key, told where breakfast was served and directed to the lift. We duly unpacked and went back to reception and asked for a drink. We were told this was not possible as the bar was closed until 4…..this was early afternoon. We were directed down the road to a cafe/bar, so we went there in the torrential rain. Incidentally, we went here a few times and were always greeted with a smile. There is no pool bar as shown on the website so no drinks round the pool till after 4pm, unusual for a 4 star hotel. Notices in reception inform that it is forbidden to drink shop bought drinks on the premises. We were on a B&B basis and breakfast was fine although the hot food buffet was the same all week as was the evening menu. The breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately no niceties on checkout, just presented with the bill. There is a lack of outside space, just a terrace at the front overlooking the road and the pool area is small with a few sunbeds. We have stayed in other 4 star hotels in Italy which have far superior facilities. However, the hotel is in a great location near the train station for visiting Florence and Lucca and a trip up the Funicular railway is a must.

The rooms at this hotel are the smallest we have ever experienced. In the first room we were allocated, we couldn't put our cases anywhere, the second, although a little bigger was still small, added to the fact that we were overlooking a busy road, where the fast/loud Italian car drivers tore up and down. The third we managed to shoe horn ourselves into. We only had two medium cases between us. We were part of a tour group and after a long journey, we decided to eat in the hotel. Never have we paid so much for so little. A plate of 12 thin slices of sausage and a piece of toast between us, two slices of ice cream the size of a slice of Battenburg cake, a glass of wine and a small bottle of sparkling water - Euro equivalent of £50. The waitress was brusque and snippy. On principle we didn't buy anything at the hotel again in the 3 days we were there. There are other more reasonable eating establishments a short walk from the hotel.

I stayed a week in this hotel and I was thrilled! It is located in a quiet street a stone's throw from the center, where there are restaurants, bars, shops, pharmacies etc. Right below the hotel there are three or four places where you can sit and have both an aperitif and dinner, very quiet but at the same time trendy. The hotel is very clean, it has a beautiful swimming pool open in the summer season, the breakfast was very good and varied, both sweet and savory options, every morning I couldn't wait to have breakfast! The front desk has fantastic staff, bar none! Always kind girls, helpful in providing the many information requested and always available for anything. Special mention for Mr. Fabio, a truly courteous and prepared person. The bar is very nice, with a large outdoor space with tables and sofas. Mr. Roberto prepared an exceptional cocktail for us and pampered us for the entire duration of our stay. Viola, the girl at breakfast and in the dining room, also helped me more than once with my requests. All this made us feel at home, revered and pampered as if we were VIPs! We will definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this town!

I really had a wonderfull stay. The hotel is located perfectly. Near the park, but also 800 m from the station. The rooms were verry good. The shower is hot quickly and a good amount of water. Plenty of towels. The beds are good firm, i like a firm bed. AC works good, so not that hot in the room. Breakfast is also good, plenty of choices and filled in time. While there were a lot of groups, there was een special place for the not-group people, so we didn't have to sit in the noisy area. The staff is really nice and helpfull. The only thing which could have been better was the location of my room. It was accros the hallway with the elevators. It was a bit noise. But not worth complaining about, but if I have the name 1 thing which could be better, it was just that. But over all I had a lovely stay and if you go in the neer of Florence / Lucca / Pisa, this is your place to be!

We just spent three nights at this hotel in Montecatini. Let me tell you- we felt like we were a part of their family.. I have never had such an amazing experience at a hotel before. My husband and I were traveling with our 18 year old twins, parents and brother and nephew- so 8 of us. We had planned dinners in the hotel and excursions planned everyday- every time we came back they had a warm smile or word for us, like they were actually happy to see us come back. Roberto in the bar is the nicest person I’ve ever met, Giuseppe in the dining room made us feel like royalty. All of the staff and the owner were exceptional… the ONLY thing I can say is you have to get creative with steaming your clothes in the bathroom because they do not have an iron. They do have laundry service. Food is amazing, drinks amazing, and the town has a way of making a little room in your heart. Bars and restaurants are a stones throw away from the hotel. One night we sat in the living room area and some of the kids played piano, while some of the other guests played cards. This is how we are supposed to exist with each other! Wonderful experience. We’ll miss you! The kids already do!!

Staying at the Francia e Quirinale was truly delightful. The staff was helpful and attentive to our every request. The room was clean and spacious enough for two with a nice view of the pool and the city.
The hotel had the best, most complete breakfast of any hotel we experienced during our 2+ week stay.
The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city without need for a car and you feel safe in this upscale neighborhood.
We look forward to returning next year for a longer stay.

I was on a Great Rail Tour and we stayed here for 7 nights. The hotel is nicely laid out with a small pool and terrace, a comfortable lounge and bar area and a large restaurant used at breakfast and dinner. There is a terrace at the front shaded by beautiful trees. It is close to the main square and the park where the Neo Classical Spa building is located. (the town is twinned with Harrogate). The staff are great, especially the restaurant crew and Roberto the barman who seems to be popular with all the guests. Breakfast was good and evening food very nice too. A small issue. Although the bed was comfortable my room was really dark even with the blinds opened and the shower cubical was rather small, for a larger person who needs to lose some weight(!)

I am not aware of a gym at this hotel but there is a very large park area close by which is suitable for jogging or speed walking and there are tennis courts also.

Hi euro26 , unlike Robb H , when we went the hotel breakfasts were taken in the restaurant and also the bar area, actually both are very comfortable, we preferred the bar area actually.
I am pretty sure that most Deluxe Premium rooms have walk in shower, we have been to the hotel many times , it is fantastic. Don't worry at all about where the evening meal is taken , you will find you eat out all the time there are many great restaurants. . Good luck, lucky you I am sure you will really enjoy it. Buona vacanza.
