We were debating whether to travel to Venice, but as it was a present we decided to go. The hotel Laguna Palace is beautiful, staff are very welcome and friendly, food great . Rooms clean and we were upgraded to a superior room.
Modern, particularly for the structure, a huge glass roof and below ... a small lagoon with boat mooring, beautiful large and comfortable rooms. Very courteous staff, the only negative note was a non-Italian bartender who responded poorly to the request for a simple "Diger seltz" or a bit of semolice magnesia ... he was almost offended and replied that he was not obliged to know everything what is used in Italy ... but nobody asked him this.
Perfect location close to the water and a short 20 min walk from the train station. Had a great time at the hotel bar with Michele and Mostafa who took care of us the while time we were at the bar! We will definitely come back for another visit!!!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this great hotel a week ago for 2 nights. Everything went great! The room had a good size, clean and we were lucky enough to get a room om the 5th floor with a great view. Check-in and check-out went smooth. Breakfast was very good as well, and the overall service was excellent. Location-wise, super as well. As it was right next to a busstop, so all we needed to do was to buy tickets at the reception, and off we went to Venice city. Only down-side was that some of the bus drivers were extremely rude; they were obviously quite tired of tourists who couldn´t speak Italian :-) We will for sure stay at this hotel again on our next visit to Venice :-)
We stayed here for 4 nights and used it as a base for sightseeing in Venice. You can get the bus 43 into Venice from right outside the hotel (every 15 mins weekdays + Saturdays, every 20 mins Sundays + public holidays: journey time 10 to 12 mins with little traffic!). The bus 15 goes to the airport as well (every 30 mins) from another bus stop just a short walk (like 8 mins) down the road (journey time 20 mins with little traffic). Overall the experience was good but we had some issues: firstly, the rooms were just too hot. The air conditioning control panel had no effect whatsoever, I know it is January and it is very cold outside, but the rooms were hovering around 24-25 degrees and that was way too warm for me to sleep comfortably. My bedroom at home is usually around 20 degrees. Even after consulting the front desk staff who told me that they would set the temperature at 20 degrees for my room, it made no difference. I had to open the window which cooled the room down, but that meant letting in the noise from the street outside which was another problem altogether. At least this wasn't too serious a problem in January, but imagine the place in summer when it is sweltering and sticky, you really want the room to be properly cool. I don't know why people think it is necessary to heat the room up to such a high temperature when it is winter - we want to be comfortable, it is not meant to be a sauna. The second problem related to the noise: I was fine for the first two nights then on the third night, the guest in the room above me decided to wake up very early and good grief, that woke me up - stomp stomp stomp, it felt like the guest was jumping around and doing aerobics in the room, the noise was terrible. I did complain to the front desk who promptly moved me to a room on the top floor, problem solved but remember, always ask for a room on the top floor (5th floor) to avoid that kind of situation. Thirdly, the English language channels on TV were not available for 2 days and there were loads of Italian and German channels, but just BBC World and CNN for us English speakers and both were out for 2 days, BBC was restored on the third day but CNN was not available for the entire duration of my stay. Not a major problem as I tend to be on my phone - but the wifi was also somewhat slower than what I am normally used to. So it was fine for looking at websites but videos took forever to load. So that's 4 problems we encountered: hot rooms and no control over the room temperature, a noisy neighbour upstairs, no English channels working for half of our stay and slow wifi. But apart from that, the rooms were nice and the staff were very friendly & helpful indeed. So it'll probably be okay, but do make sure you always ask for a room on the top floor.…
