We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel la Certosa. We cannot wait until we can visit again. The staff were so accomodating. The food was excellent. We visited during the low season, but next time we shall go right before the busy season. We went for a hike, stopped in the small center in Nerano, got some waters & fruit at Olgas Market, had a lemoncello tasting with Francesco, a local artist, continued our hike over the point to a beautiful beach. The trip to italy was a dream come true.

Seaview from the terrace is perfect, clean and nice room, very friendly staff. This small town is not crowded. The hotel has a “private beach are” with private (and free for hotel guests) sunbeds. The marina is also opposite the hotel, which is a great advantage.

Together with my family, I spent one week at this hotel and we were happy with our visit. The structure is very simple, but very clean. Breakfast was a small buffet with limited variety, but still offered different kinds of home-made cakes, yogurt, cereals, prosciutto, cheese etc. The hotel is right on the beach and offers sunbeds and umbrellas to its guests, which we found very convenient. Despite the area doesnt offer many services in terms of transportation and entertainment, there are boats departing from a small pier right outside the hotel that go to Capri, Amalfi and Positano, and the bus stop is within walking distance. Although there are boats coming in and out of the small bay where the hotel is, the water is still clean and good to swim and the place quiet. The staff is extremely kind. We got sick during our stay and the wife of one of the owners bought medications for us in a pharmacy in a village nearby. The chef at the restaurant “Pappone”, which is part of the Hotel, cooked us some white rice to eat in bed until we felt better. Moreover, one of my dresses lost one button one evening and the next morning the cleaning lady, who is also a seamstress, fixed it without even charging me. One thing to point out is that the wi-fi is not great and doesn’t work in the rooms. Moreover, there is no phone service in the rooms, unless you use the carrier “Tim”, but this is a problem common to the entire area, not just this hotel! …

Amazing stay at a quiet little location on the Amalfi coast, perfect for families with little or older kids that do not want to walk down 100's of steps to get back and forth to the beach. This location is a hidden gem!! There are a few locally family run hotels, more like B&B's on this beach. This hotel is run by brothers Alfonso and Alessandro, and extended family. They are very courteous, cater to each and every client, hotel is very clean, rooms are clean, large rooms and bedrooms and some have terraces too. The restaurant is great too, and service is right to your beach umbrellas provided by the hotel. Perfect for families with kids. You can rent boats, take the tour via boats to Capri and other locations or you can drive like we did to Positano and Sorrento late afternoons and evening for dinner. Thanks for the wonderful stay!!…

My wife and I met up with another couple with two kids, 15 and 8, and the mother is an adoptee of mine since age 12, now 43. Her husband chose this area for 7days together and I selected La Certosa, and got one of the best rooms with a balcony looking at the beach and listening to the rocks rumble softly in the surf at night. We enjoyed the service in the restaurant and the bar! Even in the summer, which was very busy,and HOT this year, the cool sea water and breeze were only steps away. Sleeping in a 700 year old Monastery was also an interesting place to to sleep.

it says a lot for Hotel La Certosa that we keep going back. Marina del Cantone is a relatively quiet and inaccessible village (Positano further along the coast is hideously busy and unrecognisable from the pretty town we first visited 35 years ago) and we enjoy its charm. The hotel run by Alfonso and his extended family offers everything we need: a brilliant view, dawn or dusk, breakfast on the terrace, a short step rather than a walk to the beach, with parasol, beds and towels provided by the hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff friendly and the hotel restaurant produces good food. What not to like?

We stayed at La Certosa for a few days and had an amazing time ! The owners and employees made us feel welcomed every day! The staff was always prompt to accommodate any of our needs. Price is really competitive for the area. Almost forgot - they also have beach umbrellas - and beach beds available at no extra cost. 100% recommended!!

Amazing place!!! We felt welcome from day one! Family oriented, very pleasant family, clean, safe, in front of the beach, right price, amazing! We will go back in a heart beat! Highly recommend! If you are a family and kids don’t think twice, this is the right place to stay! If you look for a high end style resort, this is not for you, and actually non of the hotel by the bay here, but if you want to fell at home, and your family to enjoy, this is the right place!!! We are going back next summer.

The beauty of this place is the fact that you can visit all the real tourist spots by boat at which point you thank God you decided not to actually stay in them. Here you have a beautiful setting and if you are reasonable walkers you have enough walking for aweek’s holiday (use the sunflower book and possibly also the Cicerone). Best eating places are in this area (including the restaurant at Recemmone at the end of a short walk or boat ride pleasant untouristy family atmosphere in the hotel which is right on the beach (see photos) As a former monastery (as the name suggests) the hotel is much more interesting inside than most Recommended!

Difficult to get here as a bit off the tourist trail but really worth the effort to get here. Tiny village with handful of hotels and restaurants. Our first room was fine but we had asked for a balcony - the second day Alfonso swapped us to the best room in the hotel - king size bed, lovely bathroom and great views over the sea from our balcony - thank you Alfonso! Great take off point for taking trips from the jetty 50 metres from the hotel. We visited Amalfi, Positano and Capri with ease. Breakfast on a terrace over looking the pebble beach and the hotelrestaurant (Pappone) the second best in the village - there is also a 1 Michelin starred restaurant here! Hotel includes sun beds and beach towels and friendly service. Beach great for swimming if you have sea shoes, if not there is a shop in the village which sells everything you might need! Recommend the hotel and village from which you can explore the coast without having to stay in the hectic centres of Amalfi, Positano or Sorrento. …
