We stayed at Hotel San Michele for two nights. It is a very modern mid sized hotel in the heart of L'Aquila, and we were able to walk to many local sites. The staff were helpful and friendly (and very fluent in English). The rooms were good sized and comfortable. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the hotel during a huge heatwave and there was no AC nor any fans it was very hot. Other than that, it was fine. Breakfast was also ok, nothing fancy. The service at reception was very good, but they could not help with cooling the room down.

I came to L'Aquila in July to escape Rome's heat wave, to see how the city had recovered from the 2009 earthquake, and to visit Gran Sasso (a large national park). The hotel was a very bright spot in a city that is still rebuilding its center. The staff were all welcoming; the room was clean and quiet; the breakfast...

I was there for a conference and for only one night. The price paid was absolutely reasonable. The room was clean, no noisy. Moving around is not so easy due to street closures. Breakfast included and very reach of different tastes (American and Continental)

The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. Good atmosphere. Clean and pleasant rooms. Ours had a beautiful balcony. Centrally located and still quiet. Abundant buffet breakfast with excellent coffee. Highly recommendable.

The breakfast is good. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and clean and large. The single room is tiny by European and particularly Italian standards. There was also a problem with insects. For €60 per night this was not the best value.

L'aquila is a great looking city. Unfortunately, it is still recovering from the devastating 2009 earthquake. We stopped here on the way to Rome, and didn't realize that there would be so few hotel options. Thankfully the Hotel San Michele was operating and had a room available. The young man at the front desk was incredibly helpful. Our room was...

A nice, clean hotel, close to the city center. Helpful staff, good breakfast (cold cuts and cheese, plus a vast assortment of traditional Italian breakfast items, from yoghurt to biscuits, cakes, pastries, fruit and cereals), cable TV and wireless internet service in every room. Couldn't ask for more at 60 euro per night. The city is still virtually empty -...

In a city still hard hit but a 2009 earthquake, the San Michele was an oasis. The staff was extremely helpful with directions. Our rental GPS hadn't been updated and there were many road closures and detours. The staff was great at keeping us on track. Morning breakfast was outstanding. While rooms are small, they're well appointed, and have great...
