Go straight to the railway station in L’Aquila and you will find this hotel across the parking lot. Friendly staff, large rooms and even larger bathrooms. Super clean! BUT TERRIBLE WIFI via an odd system where you have to log in using a different username and password supplied to you on a receipt that changes every four hours and often does not work. SO FRUSTRATING! This system needs to be changed ASAP please!

Clean rooms, comfortable beds. A very basic Albergo. No attendance between 8 pm and 8 am. Strange towels, more like very large tea towels. It's fine. Reasonably priced but would struggle to charge more. Just average.

I stayed in room 22 on 23 and 24 Sept 2016, single traveller for EUR45/night room only - Booking.com (discount of 20% available at the train station cafe for breakfast - but honestly a coffee and pastry is like, EUR2 so its not going to break the bank. There is also a supermarket, Lidl approx 400m away - flat walk & open Sat & Sun.) Porta Rivera is a great little hostel that really grows on you! I loved sitting in the garden terrace as the sun went down 4-6pm ... just lovely. Really cute shabby chic design with microwave, fridge, coffee machine, snack machine, cutlery, corkscrew etc and cosy dining area with TV where you can sit and relax. There is no real view, it is by the station altough you see the surrounding hills. It is 15-20 mins walk uphill to get to the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuel/Federico II - but not too bad if you are fit. You can easily ring a taxi - they were very reliable. Big thanks to Carla, she helped arrange taxi to Gran Sasso so I could go hiking. For EUR115 the taxi took me 50 mins to Campo Imperatore, I went hiking for 3 hours and the taxi took me back. A great solution given the funivia from Fonte Cerreto is closed for the year from mid Sept. I loved the Gran Sasso and L'Aquila and will be back. Thanks to Carla for encouraging me not to leave without seeing one of Italy's best treasures (and I have now completed my mission to see all 20 regions - evviva!!) The only point I need to make is that the old town of L'Aquila is still very very much under construction despite the earthquake being 2009 - 7 years ago. I honestly expected more to be open in the main street - but it is all still cranes and scaffolding. There are a few bars and restaurants open but no boutiques or other shops to go tourist shopping in. That said, I really enjoyed walking around the town and seeing the progress, what was already rebuilt and much that is still completely in ruins. The Basilica di Santa Maria Collemaggio was lovely as is the parkland area around there.

We have a twin room, it was okay, the room were spacious certainly big space for stuff. The large bathroom are well kept, everything were good. The hotel reception is closed at 20:00 and open in the morning from 8 am, so if there is an emergency I don't know where to call, there is no phone inside the room and the lady infront she didn't mentioned any emergency number, so probably never have problem in this hotel The location is very convenient, train station is next door. The commecial center is about 200 meter walking. L'Aquila is not very touristy, most visitors are local. Foreign tourist seems did not find their way here. Mostly Italian staying in this hotel. There is no breakfast in this hotel. Breakfast can be done in commercial center. The exterior of the hotel is especial with some decoration even the front desk is heavily decorated for easter. Is not really worth the price, but okay for a night stay One thing, this hotel or hostel is so easy for traveler without a car, the train station next door is just a few steps to the hotel. Car parking is at the back from the building. By the way the hotel is closed at 20:00 but you can always in and out. The roomkey works outside the door too, so is not a problem if you are out the whole night as long you have a roomkey

Easy access, on the edge of town and above the railway station. But we did not hear a peep from the trains. Well built building. Safe parking behind the building but not secure, although out motocycle was fine. While we stayed it was a holiday and the breakfast place in our building was shut. Reception sent us up the road to look for a place we couldnt find. Mainly a language barrier because out Italian is poor. So all good...

Wonderful 'hotel' just by & above L'Aquila rail station, approx 3 kms from the historical centre but very quite area; the station in L'Aquila only gets a few Regional services a day, none during the night so do not think that the arrival/departure of trains might disturb your sleep - they do not! I am not aware why they keeo the word 'hostel' in the name, but trust me when I say it is much much better than a 3*** anywhere else in Italy (Rome for example), my room was extremely spacious and very clean, the bathroom large and the shower cubicle could not be better; there are 2 buildings, one is the hotel proper and some newer rooms are across the road, just above the actual rail station (security is extremely good if you were wondering)... Reception is manned by very friendly and helpful people, I believe might be the owners but I am nt sure. Breakfast is very light, so do not expect anything more than a cappuccino and a croissant or two, but this does not matter in L'Aquila where food is good and cheap :-) Recommended. Enjoy!

The hotel is located just opposite the railway station, but as the station is barely used, there is no noise at all. Just at 400 metres from the famous Fontana delle 99 Cannelle, reachable on foot, of course! For a single room I paid only 40 Euros (including Italian breakfast). The room was very clean and spacious. The only drawback was the lack of air-condition, which is normally not a problem in a city that is at more than 700 metres of altitude. But this month the temperatures were very high also at night. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Do not be put off by the cheap price and the fact it's a hostel. It's basically as good as any hotel but without a licensed bar. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms exceptionally clean, spacious and recently refurbished and location excellent for rail travel (right next to the train station). Breakfasts served were typically Italian - croissants, cakes, coffee and juices. Each room had Sky TV (though we struggled to find anything English on it) and a hairdryer. The only recommendation I'd make is that you take your own towel as towels supplied were more like tea towels! There was ample car parking and you'll need it as it's a bit of walk to L'Aquila centre (and it's uphill and we struggled to get taxis!) It's very close to the 99 fountain which is well worth a see as there's some lovely cheap restaurants there too. All in all I can not recommend this place highly enough as it's good value.
