Tenuta San Carlo is the perfect place for people who - like me - seek off-the-beaten-path experiences and take their time off to immerse themselves in nature to unwind. The property is made up of both farmland and wild, natural land that is protected within a regional park. I have traveled plenty in Tuscany, but this is a side of the region that I had never seen before, with a forest, wide-open fields, and a quiet stretch of beach. It feels completely separate from the rest of the world, a kind of hidden gem, and the sunsets are spectacular. That being said, it is by no means a luxury vacation destination and it had all the rustic qualities (and bugs) one could expect in the countryside. However, the apartment had all the basic amenities that I needed (including reliable wifi) and the staff were extremely kind and helpful! You could easily spend your whole vacation here relaxing on the property and dining at their restaurant, which serves amazing Italian food, including the organic rice they grow on their farm. My favorite part of my stay was going on a tour of the rice fields one night and then on a foraging tour of the forest the next night, both nights followed by a delicious meal!

I just returned from a two day trip to maremma and we fell in love with Tenuta San Carlo! It is absolutely magical in every respect. The animals, the trees, the farm buildings, and the long, pine-lined road to bike down to the sea are just unforgettable. Then there is the perfectly furnished apartment, the delicious farm food, the people who are clearly part of a happy team and go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Go to be renewed, to remind yourself that life is precious and should regularly have breaks to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and to appreciate all that this special place has to offer. Bring home rice and savor every bite!

Wonderful place! Spent four nights at Tenuta San Carlo and had a great time. Between the natural beauty, the proximity to the beach, the location itself, the wildlife, the animals, the food, the wine, the staff - could not ask for more. We were there for “rice night” where they serve multiple dishes with the rice they grow right on the property and I honestly never knew rice could taste so delicious. Had the incredible luck to meet the owner and they truly care about their business and ensuring their guests have a wonderful time. My favorite moment each day was running down to the private beach underneath the pine nut trees and through the nature preserve, very peaceful and just breathtaking. One day we rented a sailboat from Grosetto to Elba which I also recommend. This is a truly magical place and thank you for the great time!

We've visited many places but the stay in Tenuta San Carlo was the best one. We stayed there for 10 days with 3 children. The place is totally beautiful, pure nature and silence. A perfect place to unwind and get rid of stress. The owners and people working there are fantastic, caring, supportive and very friendly. The food was splendid, genuine local food. Everyday we took a bike ride to the wild beach. The journey itself was a great experience, watching pine woods and birds. We recommend Tenuta to everyone who appreciates tranquility, nature, family atmosphere and fantastic food. We'll certainly visit the place again. Aleksandra and Tomasz , Poland

This isn't tourism. This is how life is meant to be. Sometimes when I'm back at work, I close my eyes and try to remember that feeling of being at the beach near the farm. Just trying to get that feeling back of the sun beginning to set and the slow and steady sound of the waves coming to my feet. It was magic. Time spent here will change you and start making you adjust your retirement plans.
