Detailed Reviews
This hotel is something special in terms of the service, food and surroundings. Whilst not inexpensive, we received excellent hospitality whilst we were there. It is close to the main road, so there is some background noise during the day, but not too much, and the hotel is situated less than 10 minutes walk from the lake front. There was a good variety of food and quality wines and high standards of cleanliness and service. The grounds were extremely well maintained and the pool area was spotless and never became too busy.
The only slight drawback for us - and it is a minor point - was the outright refusal of a member of staff to give us drinking water for our room on the first night. The expectation was that we used bathroom tap water, or, I think, to purchase water from the mini bar. Also, the pricing of some of the snacks available during the day was a bit odd, for example, the cost of a piece of cake of an ice cream was 9 Euros, which was more than some of the alcoholic drinks available! However, these are only minor points and did not detract from our enjoyment.

This excellent hotel is set in very attractive grounds with pool. The location is perfect, very quiet but only 10 minutes walk Into the centre of Garda with its great selection of restaurants and bars. The town of Garda itself is highly recommended for a stay and this hotel is the ideal place to stay at.

We first stayed at the Villa Madrina in 2005, it was great to see that the standards are as good now as they were back then.
I have stayed at many hotels around Italy, this is head and shoulders above the rest. I guess this what you get when it is a family owned hotel and not a bland hotel chain. Bravo the Tondolini family.
I cannot express how good the Villa Madrina hotel & staff are.
My wife and I had a fantastic holiday which was assisted by the excellent staff; polite, efficient and always ready to assist and help, nothing was too much trouble. The location and position of the hotel is excellent, its like returning to an oasis of calm and tranquility after long hot days sightseeing around the lake.
The food is fantastic, with a different menu every night.
I very much enjoyed the Gala night. It was nice to see the same pianist from back in 2005 when we first stayed at the hotel.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the end of our stay; on return to our room at the end of the day the management had placed a bottle of prosecco and card in our room, this was extremely thoughtful and very much appreciated.
If you stay here, you will not regret it. Fabulous hotel.

The family stayed here for a long weekend in May 2024. The hotel is a few blocks up from the promenade in Garda. This means that the surroundings are calm and quiet, but with only a few minutes' walk to the lake. The hotel is orderly, clean, tastefully decorated and very well maintained. The rooms are located with a view and balcony towards the large garden and Lake Garda. The pool area is well-kept and convivial, and you are offered a bath towel as well as a bathrobe and slippers. The staff are very helpful, friendly and professional. All in all an excellent accommodation.

We returned to this hotel in July, having previously visited in 2018, and our stay was wonderful. As with our previous visit, all the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the rooms are very comfortable and the food excellent. The location is great for catching a ferry or bus to visit different places on the lake. We used both buses and ferries to go to the places we didn’t get to last time and they are easy and efficient to use.
We had a terrace room this time, with direct access to the gardens and pool. The room had a good view of the lake and was a lovely place to sit, however the higher rooms offer a better lake view if that’s what you prefer. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel and the choice, service and location of the restaurant couldn’t be better. We tried a selection of local wines from the fantastic choice on offer and have since managed to find one of our favourites in our local supermarket!
The hotel is immaculately clean everywhere from the rooms to the pool and gardens and all the communal areas. The gardens and pool are beautiful and well maintained and feel like a quiet oasis of peace and calm.
We would happily return to Villa Madrina and have again recommended it to friends and family. Thank you for making our visit as amazing as before.

We stayed a week at this family owned hotel and restaurant, located outside of Garda's busy center, yet on walking distance from the lake. While the welcome upon arrival was professional at best, the majority of the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a very cosy, air conditioned and silent room (211) with a spacious terrace and nice view. We'd have preferred a separate room for the toilet rather than a bathroom cum toilet. We had full board and were not disappointed: dinner was really good. The pastas were great without exception and the baby octopus soup was delicious.

My wife and I booked this hotel based upon a number of factors. We wanted to be situated around Lake Garda with good public transport links to the other towns. Villa Madrina is a 10 minute walk to the bus station and is even closer to the ferry terminal. We wanted to be close to the town. Again a short walk to the edge of the lovely Garda Town Centre.
We didn't want a big bustling hotel. Villa Madrina is a small family run hotel that is set back enough to give a feeling of peace whilst being very conveniently situated as stated above.
A 4 star superior hotel that is a cut above the norm. Beautifully maintained grounds. A pristine swimming pool. A relaxing sunbathing area. That's just the outside.
The interior is traditional but certainly not dated. There is a charm to this hotel. That was evident the moment we arrived. A lovely warm welcome. From that moment we were treated to amazing service from the front desk to the restaurant to the housekeeping team. The staff are very professional and looked after us beautifully for 2 weeks. Nothing was too much trouble. Minor issues were dealt with immediately and the front desk in particular went out of their way to make our holiday special. Without mentioning specific individuals we just want to say to you the team thank you for the most wonderful time. You are all a credit to Villa Madrina and the hospitality industry. Jane and Marc x

Villa Madrina is a comfortable and convenient place to stay. The staff are very helpful, the rooms are cleaned and maintained to a high standard and the restaurant provides an extensive breakfast menu.
The grounds and pool are beautifully cared for. The situation is perfect: ten minutes walk from the ferry terminal but away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

This was the first time at Lago di Garda and we enjoyed our stay very much. The villa is close to the beach, but not too close to the road. Set in lovely green gardens with a decent pool, it has most of the facilities we expected (Spa was very small). The rooms are a bit old-fashioned, and the wall-mounted hairdryer NOT acceptable. Otherwise it is a really lovely place, with great service and an efficient and professional staff

We had a delightful stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a nice view from the balcony of the lovely garden and pool and with lake Garda in the distance. It was also very quiet and peaceful at night. The food was excellent with delicious vegetarian options available. All of the staff were extremely efficient, friendly, polite and helpful. Everywhere inside and outside the hotel was kept spotlessly clean and well presented. The hotel was just a few minutes walk away from the harbour at Garda where the ferries depart and return to and from other places on the lake. The bus station was also just a short walk away. We couldn't find fault with this hotel and will definitely return there if we visit Garda again. Thank you.
