The photographs on the website do not do this magnificent hotel justice the views are totally stunning the grounds are impecably manicured and the hotel spotless with very comfortable beds and fluffy white towels. The staff cannot do eneough to please you , before arriving we read a review that said the maitre de looked as if heexpected european royalty to arrive what a cras remarke. In truth he treated every guest like royalty with a smile and chat as you arrived for dinner. How they kept this up i do not know but they worked so hard to ensure your dining experience was memorable. A fish lover i ate in a week , Tuna, clams, squid, octupus, prawns, cod, trout, swordfish, monkfish all presented to exacting standards and the pasta dishes were mouthwatering. We were ferried into beautiful garda by a happy smiling cheuffer of the free shuttle and back and when busy they put on two and kept them running to please everyone. What an experience it was magnificent i cant believe its over for the year and looking out to the rain and wind . woudl go back in a heart beat.…
They claim to do a free shuttle 'bus' into Garda. However, in reality its 1 and sometimes 2 eight seater taxis. The first one leaving at 10,am. However, the bus to Gardaland, Peshiari, Verona etc leaves Garda at 1020. The queue from the hotel yesterday morning was about 40 people. I had to pay 12 euro in a taxi for the two kilometre drive in order to catch the 164 bus to Gardaland. Today, the queue was even bigger. I'd hoped to catch the 1045 483 us to Verona ut have again been unsuccessful. Unless I pay extortionate taxi rates, then I'm stuck here. There isn't another bus in that direction until 1145 by which time, half the day is taken up. I heard 2 ladies complain about missing a boat trip due to this. Also the last free shuttle bus back from Garda town is 745pm. Garda only starts to come alive at this time, so again 12euro taxi back to the hotel. What a waste of time. I can only imagine its worse in the height of summer months. Stay somewhere closer to town if you're visiting this area. This place has all the amenities you could want, nice views and average rooms. Food is adequate but too expensive for what you get. However, unless you're planning on lying by the pool or sitting at the bar, then avoid at all costs. Its close to nothing…
It's a professional, quiet, clean hotel in a splendid area in Garda village. They have free shuttle to the city center where is 10 minutes walk to the lake. The staff is definitely professional and organized. Hats off to Elizabetta, who is super helpful, energetic and friendly. Worth to visit and to stay in Poiano Resort in Garda village.
In the second corona year we felt safe and welcome in the resort. The organization had coped well with the problems of too many people at a time with a choice of time slots for breakfast and dinner. Yes, the buffet breakfast of previous years was even better, but this was a very good runner-up. And, the buffet dinner was back, and good as ever. Out room was comfortable, although one more easy chair and one more wastebucket woukd be nice. Many years ago the arcon was centrally controlled, but for the last so many years the occupants can choose their own setting. In the wonderful 50 meter pool I covered many kilometers again. The location of the resort is nearly unbeatable. Garda is within walking distance (if you like to walk). (The nearby Jungle Adventure is a must for everyone who likes to climb and descend in zip lines.) The staff is friendly and helpful. In the evening there's live music on the terrace, and although I am mostly suspicious when it comes to live music I found it mostly very enjoyable. The cocktails, by the way, were delicious. Two small complaints I had were dealt with within the shortest of times by the maintenance people. So, is there nothing that could be improved? Well, perhaps it would be nice if we could use trays in the restaurant, instead of walking to and fro with a tea pot, cups, glasses et cetera. A few tables where people could sit and use their laptops and still have room for some other items would be good too. The sun beds around the pool very often were occupied by towels only. No owners to be seen for hours, and consequently not enough beds for everybody. I'm not sure how the staff sould tackle this problem, but it might be a nice challange for them for the coming year. Altogether: I can't wait to gi there again next summer.…
The property seems to be locked into a 1980's time warp. There's still a Maitre 'd wearing a white tuxedo in charge of the restaurant as if old European royalty were about to drop in for dinner; rather than the package tour guests who were there! As a resort hotel the location is wonderful, looking down over Garda. It's spread out over a lot of land, so even when full it didn't feel that way. The best things were the wonderful 50m pool and pool snack bar, the easy access to Garda, with a free shuttle service, and the friendly and helpful staff. The space in the Junior suites was marvellous, with lots of storage space for the three of us. The not so good things were the horribly dated rooms, which are in definite need of a renovation to 21st Century standards. It is not acceptable to have bathrooms where the toilet cistern never shuts off but keeps gurgling throughout the night. Also, the shower over the bath always managed to flood the floor, no matter how the curtain was positioned. And whose idea was it to place the toilet roll holder so that you needed to be a contortionist to reach it when using the toilet? Worst of all was the air conditioning. The temperature and fan speed could only be controlled by reception! Sometimes they would switch the system off or change the temperature and fan speed, without asking us. On one day the chambermaid decided not to clean our room and change the towels. It took a lot of phone calls to reception just to get some clean towels. Although the free shuttle was great, why did the last one back to the hotel leave town so early in the evening? It was difficult to judge the food due to the Covid restrictions. Breakfast was served at your table from the buffet so everything you ordered came at once and the hot food was only lukewarm. And if you have the first sitting for breakfast at 07:30 why do you keep guests waiting in a long queue until 07:40?? The cost of dinner for the half board basis was considerably more expensive than the restaurants in town so we ate out every night, with a much wider range of choice.…
This was the second year coming back to the Poiano. Yes, the hotel is a little dated but the view and the pool area more than make up for this. Breakfast was a bit of a battle at times this year, but understandable given the Covid situation. Go for the early breakfast to avoid queues for coffees. We didn't eat here in the evenings but made use of the lovely restaurants and the free shuttle into Garda. Reserving of sunbeds by some of our European friends is nowhere near as bad we've experienced elsewhere, but does happen. It would help if the hotel removed towels from any sunbeds not used after 30mins. Problem solved. Don't let this put you off this resort however. Bar prices had increased since last year and 6 Euros for a beer from the pool bar seemed a little excessive. However, still a great hotel and would definitely recommend.…
This was our 2nd stay here.Although the resort is REALLY DATED, we decided to book again as the food & the scenery were nice.We were disappointed. Because of COVID the buffet was cancelled altogether, OK.. although other resorts in the area still have buffet with servers serving food. What bothered us is that the resort did not offer ANYTHING to replace the buffet & the food quality went down. My daughter had potato chips as a side dish 1 evening & these were the worst chips ever, cold & rubbery. Had there been salad bar, we would have not mindes & would have gotten something else. The swordfish (31.07) was barely warm & dry, the 2 lamb chops (27.07) cold & maybe with 3 cm of edible meat in-between fat & bone. The portions were tiny: enough for me & the kids, but not my husband (188 cm fitness fan). I mentioned this @ the reception & they told to complain @ the restaurant. The breakfast was bad too. To order food 1 had to fill out form & wait min 30 minutes before it was picked up & delivered. For beverages 1 had to line up for min 10 minutes-no trays so if you wanted for your family coffee, juice & a glass water, the whole family had to line up otherwise no way to bring it all to the table. The items available for breakfast were mostly not high in quality.NO wholegrain bread, cucumbers, tomatoes etc. I ordered 8 toast halves for 4 people & the waitress was surprised which made us very uncomfortable. I hope the resort will fix the situation - I do not recommend it @ this time.…
Had beautiful views from my suite at The Poiano resort hotel . All the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help .A golf buggy was sent up to the top of the valley whenever we requested it and a freeshuttle bus took us into Garda, which was available every half hour. I had an amazing time at this resort
Very close to Garda village but enough distant from the centre. Olympic 50 m swimming pool, helpful staff, beautiful and clean resort. We spent 4 nights as a grown-up couple and will bring the whole family of 5 next time. Amazing resort and Lago di Garda with all surrounding beautiful place close-by.
We stayed here for 3 nights in July and we certainly weren't disappointed. Our room was dated but had a modern bathroom and was clean. The view we had was beautiful with the lake in the distance. We stayed half board but ate out on two of the nights. There is only a choice of 3 different starters and main courses to choose from and some of the options are a little strange. The food available from the pool bar was great: pizzas, panini's, burgers etc. The pool is huge but has rather uncomfortable sun loungers but the view makes up for that!! A pianist played on a couple of the nights which isn't my cup of tea but other guests really enjoyed it. The location is a little further away from the centre but the hotel do provide transportation so it isn't a problem. We did struggle to find a taxi back from the centre. I don't know if you need to book them or what but we didn't see any drive past or at taxi ranks so we did have to stick to the time of the hotel transport. Garda is a great base as the ferries take you to most of the other towns, we bought a day pass and spent a couple of hours at Lazise and Sirmione which were both beautiful and so different. I recommend this hotel and would return on a self catering basis.…
