Our room had adequate space (some did not), but poorly utilized. For example, in a spacious bathroom, there was almost no counter space for toiletries. There were suitcase spaces and a nice desk, but very little drawer space.
Good beds and shower.
The hotel was almost too big to feel warm and friendly. The dining area was huge and could be noisy. Common areas didn't seem to get cleaned frequently enough.
The wait staff and servers were not bilingual, so orders were sometimes mixed up. And the fried eggs I ordered for breakfast ended up scrambled.
The internet here was painfully slow.
One night a cow outside was keeping up awake.

Great location for skiing - on the road to Cinque Torre and Col Gallina. There is ski and boot storage as well as a ski tuning room and ski rental shop!

Best parts:
#1: THE STAFF! Check in was fast and easy and dining room service was super, especially Vita, our server. Gentilissima!!!
#2: The meals: Breakfast had everything we needed and more, including scrambled eggs and bacon! We were there for a ski competition, so I don't know if those choices are always available... Dinner choices were great and not too expensive. Especially important now as COVID protocols eliminated dining options elsewhere.
#3: The room was newly appointed and had adequate space. The views were beautiful!
#4: Located on the road to Cinque Torre and Col Gallina, so it saved drive time in the morning.

Older hotel outside of the city with most guests being Italian rather than other Europeans or Americans. Rooms needed updating but were functional. Breakfast had lots of options. Located near a ski lift outside of town.

I stay with a group of friends in Hotel Villa Argentina each January and have done so for the past few years.

We always find the Hotel, staff and facilities excellent.

The Hotel wins if you want an out of town, piste side location, ski in ski out with stunning views from the dining room.

It is also an excellent launching pad for many of the other ski fields to the west, notably the Cinque Torri, the so called 'hidden valley' at Paso Falzerego as well as the steep slopes of Arabba, the Sella Rhonda's entry point at Corvara, the lofty heights of the Marolada and the sunny skiing at the lake side village of Aleghe. All are within 15 to 75 minutes drive from the Argentina's car park without having to deal with the traffic and one way system in Cortina.

The only thing to consider is whether the relative isolation of the hotel is a feature or and hindrance, from a skiing point of view it represents no problem, as you need a car to get the most from a Dolomite trip anyway.

The Argentina has a nice little bar and the Hotel's dining room and wine list are better than adequate most nights. The Barolos are particularly recommended.

Stephen

Dear Stephen, thank's very much for finding the time to dedicate us such anice review. We are happy that you appreciate the facilities of the Hotel and our staff. The most important thing for us is that you love the position of Hotel Argentina, for us is a point of stenght to be 5 km away from the traffic of Cortina and to be just 20 meters from the ski slopes,we are proud to say that we are the only Hotel of Cortina area good for ski in ski out lovers.Thank's again for the nice words for our Restaurant, next time you will be here we will have more Barolo's in the wine list

The room was rather tired unlike the website photos, which showed a renovated room.
Bathroom was a little dilapidated and in need of a serious renovation.
Room was also very noisy with the next room shower right next to our bed.
The combination of wooden floors and very thin walls, made the room very noisy.
Curtains were very thin almost transparent.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. Room very comfortable, clean, plenty of room for storage. Amazing views from our balcony. Rooms are a little dated decor wise but this was a minor detail. The buffet breakfast included in the price is great, very hearty. There is a nice open area just over the road to sit, relax, have a picnic. There is a bus that runs to/from the centre of Cortina. Stops outside the door. Fantastic hiking in the area. If you want to have a cheap meal get some groceries from the shops in town and have a picnic on the grassed area. We always travel with our own basic cutlery set and basic camping cooking gear. Really lovely spot and staff helpful. The walls did seem a bit thin so may wake light sleepers.

A good hotel, well located near the Cortina d Ampezzo slopes and 10 minutes walk by car from Sella Ronda slopes. The staff is very friendly, the food is good and the rooms and the common areas very clean. There are rooms with a nice view from where you can see the slopes.

We went to Cortina for a four day skiing holiday, and chose Villa Argentina mainly for its ski-in/ski-out possibilities. It turned out to be a perfect choice.

We arrived late in the evening (20pm), too late to get ski passes in the office downtown Cortina. No problem, the welcoming staff fixed it for us. We arrived in time for a nice three course dinner at a resonable price (18EUR).

The rooms were cozy, with wood paneling that fits nicely for a hotel in the Alps. The only negative was the heat in the room was too high and impossible to adjust. Terrace door ajar served as a good solution to this challenge. The bathrooms were good, but the mattresses could have been softer.

The morning after arriving the skipasses were ready in the reception and from the ski rental shop in the basement, we could hit the slopes. After a hard day on the slopes, we tried the nice sauna and Turkish bath, which was of good quality.

Internet was more or less free by getting a code from reception. And all our prejudices about Italian service level was turned into something positive. We had some challenges due to the cancellation of our return flight from Venice, the receptionists helped as best they could with train schedules to other airports.

We had wonderful days in Cortina and the staff at Villa Argentina made our stay even better. We are definately coming back.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and would happily return, but the hotel has both advantages and disadvantages, you need to determine what is important to you before making a decision to stay here.

Advantages: Historic building, great location away from town, pleasant employees, good food (both dinner and breakfast - great breakfast variety), free parking, fast free Wi-Fi, excellent value for the price charged. Beds are very comfortable, but firm.

Disadvantages: It's a 100 year old building, soundproofing is poor (you can hear people in the next room), only one tiny elevator the size of a phone booth (plan on walking up and down the stairs), not at all handicap accessible. Rooms are very small. There is a busy road in front of the hotel, popular with motorcycle riders.

It's a long way (about 8 km) from the town of Cortina, there are no other restaurants near the hotel.

If you book here, ask for a room facing the rear of the hotel (away from road noise) and ask for a room that has been renovated (renovated rooms are very pleasant).

Like I said at the beginning, I liked the place and I would happily return, but some people might not accept the disadvantages.

Pocol è a pochi km da Cortina (quasi 5, appunto). Facilmente raggiungibile, ma la bellezza dei luoghi e la vicinanza di altri passi e località top non rendono la cosa indispensabile... anzi!!!
