During the lock down, when it wasn't possible to go to any restaurant I went with my wife for a week end in this hotel. We had a wonderful experience even if it was a bit limited by the covid rules. The room was a bit small with a very small window, even the I normally cannot accept limited natural light, for the weekend was acceptable and the room all in wood was so confy and sofisticated that it was pleasure to stay. Obviously it was very clean. The restaurant was in a really nice room with natural materials like wood and stone. Food was really particular and good. Service in the restaurant and in the hotel really kind. We will definitely come back.
Revisited Rosapenna after many year's absence Everything was excellent from the staff to the ambiance and the food It was laid back no rush atmosphere which we loved In spite of the Covid situation the hotels coped well and did not overburden guests with over the top regulations The surrounding area is so beautiful and in the late summer sun showed up the Hotel the golf courses at their best Cannot wait to return B B
We enjoyed our stay at Rosapetra. The rooms are small, but the woodwork and details are quite impressive. The resort has parking, which is very convenient. The breakfast was very complete and a definite plus. I found the staff a bit distant, but they were helpful when approached.
You wouldn't know by looking at the outside of the hotel what awaits you inside. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed, the indoor pool and spa are luxurious and the restaurant is excellent. It was a wonderful base from which were able to explore the stunning countryside in the area. The only thing you need to be aware of is that it's a few kms away from the centre of town so you do need a car.
When I write reviews I always try to see the positives in the place I am reviewing. Over 90% of my reviews would have a positive twist for an establishment. But as a 5 star hotel Rosa Petra has a lot of room to make improvements. We booked a “Superior Room”, which on their website looks fine. In actual fact It is the smallest room I have been in that is a 3 star or better hotel anywhere in Europe, in over 20 years of travelling. They have the spa in the hotel and little cardboard boxes of things in your bathroom that we never use. Our room had 15 lights in the bedroom and entrance. Every light is a mood light and not one gave enough light to read a book in bed or work a laptop at the tiny desk. In spite of the 15 lights the room is dark. There is a TV in the room that automatically turns on every time you enter the room and stays on until you turn it off. It has commercials for the hotel’s amenities. Not one of the regular TV channels that is on their TV guide was able to provide reception. Just the hotels commercials. The room walls seem to be quite thin, as we could hear people talking in the room next door each night. Not what I expect in a 5 star establishment When we checked in for a 3 night stay, we were met by a very pleasant front desk person. When we asked for dinner reservations for the first night. we were told at the front desk there was no room in the dining room for us because they had a group in for dinner. We expressed our disappointment and after some asking to check again, they managed to fit the 2 of us in for 7 p.m. That night at dinner there was no large group and there were lots of table space unused. Compare this to our last 5 star hotel the previous night in Lientz. When we checked in to the Grand Hotel Lientz, we were told that table was reserved for us for anytime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. We only had to show up when we wished and our table would be ready. That is what I expect from a 5 star hotel. The dinner at the Lientz was also at the awesome level with table service to match. Rosapetra had many months to ask us if we would like dinner reservations for our stay including the email they sent a couple of days before asking about food restrictions etc. If they have a dining room capacity issue, why don’t they ask guests that have reservations if they would like to make a dinner reservation, well ahead of time. When we showed up for dinner, a waiter who gave the impression that he was too busy to provide proper service for dinner. He simply left the food menu at our table, with no explanations about what was in the menu. A few minutes later we had to ask for a wine menu. Thie wine list should be presented to guests along with the food menu. We ordered an insulate mista to share as a starter. The salad was brought to our table and there was no salad dressing on it or was any offered not even oil & vinegar. So we ate a dry green salad, which leaves a lot to be desired. We then ordered 2 pasta dishes which when they arrived had 5 small pieces of pasta on a red sauce. Each piece of pasta was the size of a 2 Euro coin. This was for 20 Euros each plate. We then decided not to order any other dishes. At this point a beer and a pizza would look good. They offered a special dessert that is supposed to model the Dolomite's. This was basically vanilla wafers in a Nutella base, with some sprinkles for decoration. This was another menu item that failed to deliver on quality. We ate in town for the next 2 evenings. When we went for breakfast on our first morning in the hotel, there was no staff and no espresso machine. I had to go into the kitchen and when I found what I assume was the chef, I asked how to get a coffee. He said I will phone a waiter and a couple of minutes later a waiter showed up and took our order for coffee. In summary I would not stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel for others. If I had to rate it I would put it between a 2 and 3 star hotel. The lobby area and the hallway to the rooms are very nice.…
