We stayed here for six nights on our Rail Discoveries holiday, visiting three of the Cinque Terre and Genoa. The hotel is very well located, close to the railway station and a pleasant walk to the beach. Our room was pleasant, looking out on a beautiful old villa across the road. The bed linens and towels were sparkling white, bed... More

This is a wonderful family hotel to stay in while visiting the Italian Rivera (Cinque Terra, Portofino and Genoa) Train station is a few minutes away. Rooms are modern, clean, quiet and comfortable. Good food, good price, good location.

I wanted to give a more than average rating due to the friendly, cheerful and helpful staff but overall it is an average hotel. Location is good and Chiavari is a nice town with plenty of places to visit and restaurants within easy walking distance as is the beach. However the food as part of a Rail Discoveries tour was... I would agree with other visitors in that it was close to the station and fairly central to the town. The staff were fine and cheerful and helpful. The room was fine, but the bathroom had a step up which caused a few stubbed toes. The shower was 800 x 800 with a door that met on the corner. Essentially... More

We stayed at Stella Del Mare for 6 nights as part of our Italian Riviera train holiday with Rail Discoveries. The hotel is in a great location just a few minutes walk from the train station and 5 mins from the beach. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and delis around. It's also worth visiting "Villa Rocca" botanical gardens which only... More

Stayed here for 6 nights on a Rail Discoveries trip to the Cinque Terra, it's than 10 minutes from Chiavari station & within easy walking distance of the town centre. The rooms were fine, modern with showers or bath, fairly quiet, with safes and free Wifi. The food was good,4 coarses [choice of 2 mains], with wine and water every... More

We have recently returned from Chiavari from a Rail Discoveries holiday, who use this hotel. Our room was quite large, the bed was firm but OK, it had a peculiar sit down shower, which took time to get to grips with and was a source of amusement. It had all the usual goodies for a 3 star hotel room. The... More

Firstly we found the service and food to be first class - I can think of only one dish in the week which which I wouldn't have again, although the breakfasts were nothing particularly special (no hot food and not much choice) - aside from the coffee. The waiters/waitresses don't all speak great English, but they all had a great... More

I have just returned from Chiavari and I'm eager to review the hotel because it is deserving of a lot of praise. The family owners and staff have been through a trying time following flooding in November but after a chic refurb, the hotel is now quite lovely. Location is good and handy for the rail station for easy access... More

You are made to feel very welcome and all the staff are friendly and polite and with a good sense of humour, especially when the language barrier runs riot. Any small problem, they will solve it for you. The food, real Italian, was in our opinion excellent. A wide and varied menu. Breakfast was typically continental with a very wide... More
