We stayed 2 nights in Santa Maria and we loved it. The hotel is at walking distance from the trainstation and the lovely center of Chiavari. We had a totally renovated room and it was beautiful. Our room faced the nearby trainrails, but was super isolated, so we did not hear any noise.Breakfastbuffet is standard and adequate. We liked the roof terrace with sun loungers and a nice sea view, very much. The hotel is in good location, to visit Portofino for a day. We took the train from Chiavari to Santa Margherita Ligure, from there we walked along the coast to Portofino. From Portofino we walked to San Fruttuoso where we took the boat to Camogli. In Camogli, we took the train back to Chiavari, a lovely day! And the last positive point, the staff is super friendly and helpful !!

Stayed in Chiavari as midpoint between Portofino and Cinque Terre. Travelled by train from Chiavari (ten minute walk) to and from Cinque Terre. Town is vibrant, attractive place with many good restaurants. Hotel is ten minute walk into town centre and has on-site car parking. Facilities are nicely decorated although bedrooms are a little dated. Hotel staff, Viviana and Martina, were superb. They could not do enough to help us travel around easily and enjoy our stay to the utmost.

This hotel is nicely located by the sea. It has parking (which is not always the case with some hotels) and the staff were very pleasant. The rooms are pretty basic and my husband had trouble squeezing into the shower, but the price is quite low and given the lovely service I think I would go there again.

A receptionist named marco, not a little manners, but also abuse the guests, I really do not understand why such a person to do the reception, the most basic courtesy and life is no quality. The room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom was good, but because of the impolite and unfriendly receptionist, we were in a bad mood and did not feel happy at all, hoping we would not have met such a receptionist again and hopefully this Mr. marco first learn how to behave, then come out to work, if so, I suggest Mr. marco you still stay at home

Response from Martina V, Responsabile reception at Hotel Santa Maria

Dear Mr. yongjiao h, we're really sorry about your experience, but we suggest to maybe double check the hotel you wanted to leave a review about, since we do not have a Mr. Marco that works (or ever worked for that matters) at our reception. In fact at the reception we're all women. We're inclined to think you picked the wrong hotel.

This hotel has very nice decor (recent?) And very spacious rooms with lots of hanging facilities. Cars can be parked (for 5 euros a night) in a compound with a heavy sliding gate but it is a little distant for mobility impaired folk. The rooms have excellent showers, toilets etc and the beds are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a nice garden where you can take drinks.breakfast is diverse and good. The only real downside is the busy rail line at the back of the building. In
