Villa d'Este is Brilliant and I would stay here again But ... perhaps the main task of any luxury hotel is to provide all the elements required for a good night's sleep. Without that your impression of a place or location can be greatly effected....More
The property, service and atmosphere is world class. I’ve stayed a lot of places and this place is certainly one I feel fortunate to have visited. Lake Como is beautiful and the hotel and gardens don’t disappoint. Service is fantastic. The views cannot be beat...More
We loved our three days at Villa d'Este. The hotel is historic, three restaurants offer first-rate cuisine, but service was arrogant. The grounds are wonderful to walk and even to hike. We made a day-trip to Lugano, Switzerland - only an hour away.
A garden on a hill is not easy to imagine. This garden is full of fountains, alleys, tile walks, and grand views. To forget about thirst in a hot summer day, go to this garden. Much better than sanssouci Park.
We planned our trip over one year ago. At the suggestion of our agent we booked Villa D'Este, what an experience. The staff was professional and courteous. The grounds were beautiful. Lake Como was also outstanding. The staff was plentiful and helpful. The meals were...More

I've stayed twice and both times in the main building. Both times I was there, there was a wedding but the windows are excellent and then there are metal electronic shutters that you control with a switch on the wall. To be clear, I did not hear a peep. I always prefer the main buildings. You're closer to most things--I don't know, to me it's just more convenient.

Pricey all round. Lunch options are either on the terrace or by the pool, both of which are fairly bland in terms of menu options although the terrace area has a gorgeous view. A simple caprese salad is about €20 there. By the pool is more burger and chips type fayre, again €20 or so. I probably wouldn't bother going just for lunch. Two restaurants for dinner (we ate at both once each during a weeks stay and saw George and Amal Clooney at the Grill) both of which are very fancy in menu offerings with fantastic service. I didn't pay the bill ever but I guess for a party of 8 which we were, with wine it would be approx€600 each dinner. I really struggled to find anything I could eat in the fancier restaurant as a vegetarian but my nephew for whom they said they would cook anything we wanted, asked for some chicken and chips and vegetables and it was utterly delicious. They were extremely accommodating too.
Lots of other lovely looking places to eat inCernobbio though, including a fab modern pastry/cake shop right in the village square which is fab and so cheap.
