Four of us from Florida traveling through Tuscany were highly recommended to enjoy Ulrike’s Tuscan cooking class. The recommendation was one of the best things we’ve enjoyed so far in our month long sojourn in the Tuscan region. Ulrike took us to a local market to experience local Tuscan life and avail ourselves of an awesome tasting of breads, cheeses and salami as we acquired the products that would become our meal under the guidance and watchful eye of Ulrike. Back in her kitchen, Ulrike patiently explained her recipes and guided us through the process of making a fantastic meal, from aperitif to dessert. At the end, we left with full bellies and were certainly more knowledgeable, but also secure in our ability to try Ulrike’s recipes back at home in the States. All in all, a great experience and one we would enthusiastically recommend if you are traveling in the Castellina in Chianti area.

We just returned from a one week stay at Poderi Val Verde and it was absolutely beautiful. After 3 very busy days in Rome and before we headed to Venice this was the perfect stop to experience the beauty of the Chianti region. We were 3 couples staying in the 3 bedroom 3 bath unit. The stone building was over 400 years old, very clean and well kept with a fully equipped kitchen, even a dishwasher if needed. The property and views are exactly as pictured. It is so quiet and the perfect place to relax and reboot. Ulrike and her son Fabian are wonderful, warm and friendly, the perfect hosts. The location is within 45 min. to an hour from so many of the Tuscan villages and walled cities we wanted to visit. Our group took part in a cooking class held in Ulrike's own kitchen. It was fun picking the vegetables from her garden and preparing our meal under Ulrike's watchful eye. From the eggplant and red pepper appetizer to the homemade pasta and sweet and sour wild boar we had a delicious authentic Tuscan meal topped off with Tiramisu for dessert. We can't forget the delicious wine. This was most definitely a place I would highly reccomend.

My daughter and I stayed with Ulrike and her family (both two and four legged) last week. The accommodation was spotless and the 3D Archery ranges were excellent. If you are looking for a family friendly place to shoot some arrows while others in the family relax at the pool, I would highly recommend you give Poderi Val Verdi a visit. We especially enjoyed the in-house cookery course run by Ulrike herself and were able to invite some other guests to join us in scoffing the food we made.

We had a fantastic time. My children really enjoyed the cooking class. The food was excellent, in fact my kids said it was the best meal they had while they were in Italy. Very hands on. We made all of the meal under Ulrike’s supervision from hand kneading the pasta dough to making the wild boar and seasoning it. We’ve done several cooking classes throughout Italy and this one really lets you do all the cooking. Ulrike is a very charming and gracious host. She is very down to earth and personable and has a wealth of cooking experience. My wife and I found her very entertaining and funny. Her location is absolutely beautiful and certainly the next time we are in the Chianti region, not only will we do another cooking class, but we’d love to stay at her agrotourismo. I would highly recommend this activity for any family. Thanks for the great time Ulrike. Can’t wait to come back.
