In a town where it’s hard to get tourist info, Pino has all the info on all the events in town, especially related to WW2 and Monte Cassino. There’s an elevator. You can walk to many restaurants. There is a desk in the room, and lounges in the lobby downstairs if you have work meetings. Only thing was, the plugs were tricky and loose for laptop plugging in the room. And maybe the bathroom needs updating. But if you’re there for a short time, the main thing is, you have a resource to find and see everything.

It was purely accidental that I recently reserved two nights in Cassino at the Hotel La Pace. I wanted something close to the Monte Cassino battlegrounds for research I was doing, but I had no idea I'd meet Pino Valente, a most knowledgeable third-generation owner of this small hotel. As I chatted with the desk clerk upon check-in, I happened to mention that I was interested in Monte Cassino and its history during WWII. He recommended I talk with the owner, Pino, when he returned from errands. Meanwhile, I browsed in the lobby where Pino has exhibited his collection of memorabilia. Then Pino appeared and began to share his impressive knowledge of the region, its battles, and important relics of war. He loaded us into his small car and personally drove us around the region, stopping at excellent vantage points where we could see the terrain the Allies and Germans fought over in 1943-44. He drove us to Point 593, helped us look for pieces of shrapnel which we placed at the obelisk marking the point the Germans used to hold off the Allies' advance. He showed us the rebuilt abbey, pointing out various important elements of it both before and after it was bombed in February 1944. Pino's hotel is clean and modern, and our room had an excellent window view of the abbey and the . The rooms come with a breakfast, too. Pino's dream is to help both tourists and locals appreciate the history of Cassino, and he works tirelessly with students, business owners, and his many friends to accomplish his goal. If you intend to visit Cassino as part of your interest in WWII history, I very highly recommend Pino Valente's La Pace hotel.

And this is a wonderful review! Thank you very much! Great! I just shared this review, and has been very good appreciated on the Facebook profile of Hotel La Pace Cassino, where you can see all my efforts to keep Memory alive. I hope that this kind of support will become contagious, to help and incourage Pino's dream to become real! Thank you again.

La Pace is a comfortable, friendly hotel. The staff are very attentive and pleasant. Pino, the owner is so knowledgeable about the history of the area and has special interest in the four battles of Cassino. The hotel has many artefacts , a mini museum. Guests come from all over the world, reflecting the multi national nature of the battles. Consequently you meet many interesting people. We have visited many times and have never been disappointed.

Thank you very much! In this review, you have reflected the most important goal that now the city of Cassino has the opportunity and the responsability to reach: "...Guests come from all over the world, reflecting the multi national nature of the battles. Consequently you meet many interesting people..." And for this reason, my opinion is that my city could be the starting point of a very important message: "LA PACE (The Peace)".

The four of us rented two rooms for one night. We had been travelling throughout central Italy for the past 10 days doing ancestry research, enjoying the sights, food, wine, etc. We were enroute to Rome to fly back home to PHL the following day. Anyhow, Hotel La Pace was a good place to stay. The staff was attentive and friendly. Pinot, The Manager, speaks good English, and was very well-informed on many aspects of the WWII events regarding Montecassino. He showed us a ~45 minute video which was a good overview of the allied campaign(s) to oust the Germans in 1944. He also took two members of our group up to the battlefield atop Montecassino for a 3 hour tour of the area & events which occurred there. As for the Hotel? Basic, Good Clean Accomodations. There is a Deli which serves great food & a grocery store just up the street, as well. We enjoyed our short time there!

Simple clean room, , with an excellent view of Monte Cassino. Delicious breakfast buffet. The lobby is decorated with WW2 items and the owner can give you lots of information about the Battle of Monte Cassino. Specially about the historic battle hiking tour. He edited a special map with pictures for this !
