I stayed here as part of my Via FrancigeAna package. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the previous reviews. However I was really happy with everything. I asked for a room with a view of the old town. No problem! The room was large, bright and clean with a good double bed. As a solo traveller I have... More

Family owned place, close to town center (Bolsena is quite small anyway!), friendly atmosphere. Problems were traffic noise from the via Cassia down below and no hot water in the morning. Layout and furniture of room is classic of the 50's, rather bare and quite "sad". WiFi available in lobby.

After a long and difficult drive from Greece we were looking forward to a really good night's sleep. We booked a room for four which was spacious but almost Puritan in its bareness and lack of overt comfort. But it was clean and cheap. There was a festival going on the night we were there so no sleep if you... More

Stopping overnight in Bolsena is a rewarding experience, and the Hotel Nazionale on the main street, in the heart of "downtown", distinguishes itself for the extraordinary courtesy of its proprietors, who treat you as part of the family. I particularly appreciated the fact that they prepared breakfast for me at 6:00 a.m., so I could catch the bus to Orvieto... More

We stayed four nights at Hotel Nazionale, Bolsena, in April 2014. It was a really comfortable, centrally situated, close to historic centre and the lake. Owned by a family who treated us as part of their own family. Thank you Sandro, Anna and Marco, hope to see you again in the near future.

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel as they were very welcoming. Nothing fancy but that is exactly what we like. Great breakfast. Felt we were one of the family. Recommend this highly. Left us with a lasting impression

Traveling down from Siena on our way to Rome we drove past the town of Lake Bolsena and were pleasantly surprised. A special little town with a lot to offer. A quaint town, a beautiful lake, shops and hikes to choose from.....not a touristy town at all. We stayed at Hotel Nazionale which is at a perfect location to walk... More

The rooms are okay, the staff is quite friendly but there is not a nice italian atmosphere/ambiance in the bar. It is all a bit gone glory in the wrong way. The bar is not clean, the windows could use some soap and water etc. etc. It has a lot of potential because the rooms are fine and the place... More

There are a great many hotels in Bolsena between which to choose - most of them decidedly shoddy, dodgy, filled with wrinkly Germans on a quick return visit to Europe from Bolivia, Paraguay or other such convenient refuges where they have been rotting for the past seventy-odd years - but few, if any of the establishments offer the happy combination... Built in the days when it was fashionable to drive out to the Lake from Rome, there are pictures of the hotel in the 1920's with a petrol pump on the corner. Now it is marooned just outside the town walls with a main road on 3 sides, but thankfully all traffic stopped at about 9.30pm and did not start... More
