Beautiful hotel, great service, jaw dropping location and amazing breakfasts. You must go to the beach as well it's great and the hotel has sunbeds and umbrellas there. The only thing that can be improved was the rooms ours not bad but ours had a few handles missing of furniture, no glass in the coffee table and no cutlery and bottle opener in the kitchenette.

Just returned from this excellent hotel. Beautiful location, but certainly more ‘remote’ than our tour operator (Tui) lead us to believe. Although we paid ‘high season’ prices, very little on the hotels complex was actually open for another 2 weeks, so eating, drinking and shopping options were very limited or non existent! Thank goodness we opted for the half board choice! Walking daily to the left or right of the fjord was a joy however. English is spoken by the excellent staff throughout the hotel, which was spotlessly clean and in good repair. Our room overlooked the fjord and had a spectacular view and was well appointed. The pools (un-heated) were also great. The quality of food on offer in our restaurant was beautifully presented, and Vito and his wonderful team looked after us admirably. The hotel offer two free shuttle trips to a nearby beach (not busy but not ‘private’), which has a bar/cafe. The real gem is the shuttle to Bai Sardinia, a lovely little town with nice shops and loads of eating and drinking options at realistic prices! Make sure as other reviewers have stated, that you visit the brilliant little cove at the far left of the seafront, and discover hidden beaches amongst the rocks! One final word of warning, you are not able to check in to your room until 3pm. Our Tui flight and transfer got us to the hotel 2 hours in advance of this, and from Gatwick was the only outbound option.

Dear Nomis, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased that you appreciated our services and the beauty of our rooms, as well as the courtesy and professionalism of our staff. It will be our concern to convey your most sincere congratulations to all the restaurant staff and in particular to Vito. We are also delighted that you have rated our excellent beach shuttle service which is always available for our guests. As in all other hotels, we have the check-in procedure from 3 pm and all our customers are always informed at the time of booking but we always give the possibility, in case of early arrival, to take advantage of all our services. Unless you're into boats and yachts and variations on that theme - go elsewhere. There is absolutely nothing else to do here and unless you are prepared to pay upwards of €25 for a basic shuttle ride to the nearest village, you're marooned. We felt it particularly because for five of the six days we stayed here, it rained. Where we come from - South Africa - hotel shuttles to main attractions, like the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, are standard, scheduled and free. There should be a regular, free shuttle to both Porto Cervo and Baia Sardegna - there isn't. On the upside, the rooms are very comfortable and the staff extremely courteous and friendly. Breakfast would put most other 5-star hotels to shame. But then what do you do for the rest of the day? Even on the one sunny day we had, everything extra comes with a very significant price tag. The two restaurants in the nearby precinct - if that's the right word - know they have a captive audience: not a bottle of wine in sight under €32. Excursions? The hotel spa? Well, I suppose if I owned a mega-yacht I might not notice the exorbitant prices, but I don't and neither did most of the other guests with whom I spoke. I discovered a disused jeep track up behind the western side of Poltu Quatu, which took me about 90 minutes to walk - if the hotel put the slightest effort in, it could be a wonderful addition for non-'yachtie' visitors. Wi-fi exists but, unless you use it continuously, drops all the time. Very irritating. Regrettably, we won't be back.

Dear GibboSA, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are extremely glad you loved your accommodation and our friendly staff; we always strive to create memorable experiences to our guests. We particularly cherish your kind appreciation on our Breakfast Service and we want to thank you on behalf of all our Staff. As you know, Poltu Quatu is a true gem on the Costa Smeralda area, it is renowned worldwide for its exclusivity and fanciness. Therefore prices can be higher than the average. We vaunt that our prices are totally adequate and completely aligned to those ones offered by all luxury hotels. . The Grand Hotel opened at the end of April for the 2023 Summer Season, fully operational, providing all services, restaurants and activities. We are aware that at the time of your stay, several shops and restaurants were not operating in the village of Poltu Quatu because of the low season and bad weather conditions, but this is something beyond our pertinence. We thank you for your review and do hope you can give us a second chance in the future. Kind regards.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel from the 2nd-6th of May 2023. We rented a car from Olbia airport and were glad we did - it meant we could get out and visit Porto Cervo on a cloudy day, and also meant we could stock up on some food and drinks from the local supermarket (Despar - you have to drive there). We had a lovely room that I think the concierge referred to as a 'smart room'. It was considerably upgraded from the photos (they must be part way through renovating) and we were really pleased. It was very stylish and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Like many other people mention, it would have been nice to have a tea/coffee maker in the room to be able to enjoy a hot drink before going down to breakfast. We couldn't get the 'smart' bit to work (we didn't bother asking about it), but it sounded like the neighbouring room did as we could hear their music on one occasion. The selection of food at breakfast was great, and the staff at the restaurant were attentive and friendly. Drinks from the pool bar were expensive, however for your first alcoholic drink you did get some snacks (olives, crisps and some cheese and cured meat) and we also always got 3 little bowls of something tasty - fish dishes, veggie dishes, meat dishes, they were yummy and this made up for the prices we felt. With a coffee, you got some biscuits too. Again, the bar staff were really lovely. Since we went before the true season start lots of things in the resort area were closed - only the Aruana Churrascuria, Tanit and the breakfast restaurant were open for dinner, along with the pool bar. We really liked Aruana, and the price was good. We walked up the day before to book our table and given it was fairly busy in May it's probably worth booking in the higher season. Tanit was very tasty (we had pasta and a salad), it was pricey but we felt worth it for a nice meal. The hotel restaurant (maybe Maymoon) was quite disappointing, we had small bowls of pasta and they were 25euro each! It was tasty but we left feeling disappointed at the cost, and wouldn't have returned again. They didn't have prices on the menu (nor in Tanit) so it is hard to say what a full meal would have costed. Both Tanit and the hotel restaurant also had very small menus, hard to say if this is usual or just because it wasn't busy. In both places we saw people leave because they didn't have a suitable choice. The bar menu was better, one night we both got cheeseburgers and chips and the portion sizes were great - the burger was huge. I appreciate the hotel does not own everything in the resort, but it was a real shame that more places for food weren't open - not even the pizza place! My husband was also disappointed that the gym wasn't open, even though they said it would be on the Friday. We didn't try tennis but the courts looked good. The pool area was great and the lifeguards friendly and helpful, but I couldn't help but feel it would be absolutely rammed in peak season, given the number of sunbeds they had. Maybe they put out more, but I'm not sure where they would fit. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and it's worth a walk along either side of the port to look back towards the resort.

Dear Jenniec, thank you so much for the review and for sharing your experience with other travellers. We are delighted to see your overall experience has been delightful and to read you were left impressed by the food and by our breakfast selection. We appreciate you took the time to comment on the hotel beauty and especially on the staff friendliness. We are really happy that you really appreciate our room upgrade and the stylish and the bed confort. As you notice, our Resort open before for the season this year and we open before also our Maymoon Restaurant and Tanit Restaurant. For what concerning shops and all other restaurants around Poltu Quatu Village some of them decided to open later and also in other villages around Porto Cervo and Baja Sardinia, due also to the weather condition, many restaurants, locals, bars decide to postpone the opening. Concerning our prices we have a specific price structure that is based on our positioning and this is why we want to show the price list to all our customers. Regarding our Maymoon and also for Tanit Restaurant we would like to inform you that in general, in high-level restaurants, the prices are never shown on the menus given to women. On the other hand, we guarantee that the prices are displayed on the menus given to men. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, our customers' feedback is always very important and we will waiting for you soon at Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu. Kind Regards, The Management.

The Hotel is exactly what you expect to find. The dream of a fairytale hotel, surrounded by greenery and with a romantic and suggestive architecture is real. We felt pampered by all the staff, the breakfast overlooking the port was rich and for all needs, the spectacular dinner in the hotel restaurant with unique delicious. A special thanks to all the reception staff who are always attentive and kind, the guys in the bar and restaurant are always ready to give you the right welcome. We spent some beautiful days and a wonderful anniversary between an aperitif and a walk along the pier before returning to the hotel where there is always someone waiting for you with a smile. We will be back soon.

This is a lovely Hotel with interesting architectural features, which feels more like a small village. After an initial mix up with the room at check in which was resolved by the reception team we settled in for a weeks stay. The room was comfortable, overlooking the pool. There are some sea view rooms but most seem to face the pool or garden. The main restaurant faces out to sea so breakfast was enjoyed for the see view and the amazing selection of quality products. Staff (pool, restaurant, reception and bar) were excellent, always helpful and professional. We did not use the shuttle service to the beaches but other guests seemed to have had good experiences. The location of this hotel is on a small inlet lined with yachts, but some of the amenities (restaurants, bars and shops) had closed already in September, so you really need a car when staying here as there is very little within walking distance.

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. The hotel restaurant was very nice too. In late September most of the surrounding shops and restaurants close down so limited places to eat out or buy anything. Taxis charge the earth to travel the shortest distances and the hotel bar and restaurant is very pricey. Its a wealthy place judging by the boats in the marina, hence the prices. We would return but a bit earlier in the season and hire a car to get about in. We had a lovely time. The room was kept nice and clean although we did have to keep asking for replacement items in the room, water, tea etc. They left a nice birthday cake in the room for my wife too, a nice touch. Breakfast was varied and plentiful too. Overall we were very pleased if only the drinks were a bit cheaper. The pool was freezing as was the sea at this time of year.

We booked with friends and was pleasantly surprised how lovely and quiet the complex was . We had room 310 which overlooked the gardens and a side road which was very quiet. Room was lovely if a bit dated but clean and roomy. No mini bar cost sheet but had water replaced every day ( but not teabags coffee and milk !!) the pool is very clean and plenty of sun beds and towels given out. The pool bar was quite expensive cocktails €20 but the food menu was extortionate €38 for burger and chips but as we had beer at the bar we were given nibbles which was plenty for us and replaced every drink with same again 👍 breakfast was 5 star so much choice even a gluten free table with loads of choice for us coeliacs. Hotel staff were very friendly and professional and replaced tea and coffee regularly. There is no way you would not find a great meal with the choices there but the wasps can be a bit annoying but staff try to deal with them . Reception staff helpful with info on the free bus shuttle to the beaches about 20 minutes away and you get free sun beds umbrella and towels which is lovely . Beach bar there is great for lunch out too . We ate at the Brazilian restaurant up next to the spar on outskirts of complex which was a very lovely experience and filling . Tanit restaurant is good for a upmarket menu but you can’t beat the corner caffe Della piazza which overlooked the boats and the waitresses very friendly as we ate there for a cheaper meal some evenings as excellent menus and cheaper than hotel. We hired a boat for the day and would highly recommend to see the surrounding islands €130 for whole day and well worth it . The hotel complex is very quiet but an excellent choice for a getaway. Was 5 star and we would say it well deserves it . Don’t believe the negative reviews as we cannot fault this hotel complex

The hotel it’s self is lovely, well looked after, the port is just stunning to look at, the boats are out of this world. We didn’t sit round the pool, why would you when u have the most beautiful coves and beaches within 3-4 mins away, we had a car so were out from 8.30am until the sun went down. I would highly recommend hiring a car, there is so much to see around the island, the most stunning views and the sea is absolutely crystal clear and the snorkelling is fab. Breakfast was great, the bacon was delicious! Prosecco on offer, loads of cakes and cereals and fruits. We ate in the Tanit restaurant at the hotel’s port twice, the food was the best we have had in a long time, the seafood is just gorgeous, the staff were fantastic and it’s such beautiful setting. The Brazilian is nice, not really for us as we aren’t massive eaters so probably didn’t get our money’s worth. You can eat down at the port at a couple of restaurants but we didn’t so can’t comment on them. Drinks are reasonably priced there, €5 a wine and lovely wine it is, €10-€12 for a cocktail. We found a great restaurant down near Tre monti beach, foodie, €10 for a huge pizza! Beautiful seafood restaurant at Baja Sardinia, amazing view of the sea. 15 minutes away is San Panteleo, ate in 2 lovely restaurants there as you drive in. The food is just stunning wherever you go. We got a cab to Porto Cervo one night, beware they are pricey. €30 there and €70 back but the harbour there and the bars there are really nice. We had a great night dancing and drinking cocktails. Drinks in the hotel it’s self are dear, €20 a cocktail. We bought a bottle of vodka with us from duty free to have on the balcony before we went out in the evening, the first night before we went to the supermarket we got 2 cans of sprite and 2 cans of coke from the hotel bar and it was €32!!! Safe to say that was the only time we did that. We don’t mind paying a price for alcohol but €8 a can of pop is a little steep. 3 mins up the road is the supermarket, got everything you need. Some days when we went to little coves we would take our own drinks and snacks. I had a lovely sushi bowl, so fresh and tasty. And I bought cans for our vodka! We visited so many beaches, everywhere you go there is one after another. Best beaches we have ever seen! We did a boat trip from Olbia port, booked through trip advisor with Bluesea charter, Antonio was brilliant, we had the best day touring the island and snorkelling! I would definitely recommend this hotel, the location is perfect!

This was our first trip to Sardinia and stayed seven days at the Grand Hotel. The decision to choose this attractive property was the brand star rating and quality of the amenities. In particularly, the superb location by the marina. Every morning, we could not wait for breakfast with so much to choose from and was plentiful! The manager here ran a tight ship so to speak (excellent). The backdrop of the restaurant captured the marina of yachts and is indeed exquisite - I had the yearnings to own one!! The hotel is well maintained and cleaned regularly. The atmosphere is peaceful and a restful place to recharge. Although there were a few families with babies and toddlers, this did not disturb our peace at all. I would like to highlight their free daily scheduled shuttle bus from the hotel taking guests to a couple of nearby beaches to choose beforehand. This service includes return journey, towels, and cost of the sun loungers which is great. There's also a couple of pools on the property where you can catch the rays and relax. The other highlight is their free ironing service. The hotel management operate a fabulous team who are hardworking, courteous and very accommodating (thank you). I (we) would like to personally thank you Oscar for your kindness and hospitality which is first-class - you are truly a legend. I do not think we could ever afford to tip you 😊 Gian Andrea thank you for your patience and thoughtfulness on the day of our departure. We would recommend this hotel without a doubt. Hopefully, see you again next year.
