Everything about Badia di Pomaio is exceptional - from the grounds and our room to the food and the attention to detail. But perhaps the best thing about our stay was the staff - in particular, Mario and Nadia, who were so incredibly kind, attentive and warm (Mario always recommended fantastic wine!). The front desk staff were also phenomenal. They planned and arranged for a car, a scenic lunch in nearby Pienza and a winery visit for my partner's birthday. To say they went above and beyond would be an understatement. We spent a week at the property and it truly exceeded all of our expectations. The wine, cocktail and food offerings are quite robust (and delicious) and there was more than enough to do on-site to keep you occupied. The grounds, stunning and tranquil, are perched up above Arezzo just far enough to provide absolute peace and quiet without feeling too rural. This afforded us the luxury of popping down to 'town' for a meal, and similarly, we were within quite close proximity of other tourist destinations (Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona) for day trips. Our stay made for the perfect honeymoon. We can't recommend it highly enough.

We already stayed a couple of times at Badia di Pomaio. And we will go back. The way this old monastery was turned into a small 5* Hotel is amazing. Simple, warm and authentic. Beautifully located and quit on top of a hill, overlooking Arezzo. But all this would be worthless without the manager Elena and her beautifull and involved team, creating a casual (informal) but attentive athmosphere. This makes the real difference. The hotel, the food and the drinks are not cheap, but worth every Euro I would say. Thanks to Elena, Mario, Davide, Francesca, Leonardo and housekeeping (sorry but who did I forget?)

One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever been. The staff is THE very best, they are so friendly and helpful in every single way you can possibly imagine. The rooms are just one of a kind, nicely furnished, very very clean, we got some beautiful wild flowers from the garden in our bathroom and they even hang our clothes, isn’t this heaven ? The food in the restaurant is delicious (try the 7-courses dinner- signature of the chef), they use everything they harvest in their own garden. Breakfast with Nadia is so amusing (we really like her accent and her stories), Merko knows a lot about wines and good Prosecco, we trusted on his knowledge and he let us taste some really good ones. Helena, the general manager is a very kind lady who showed us the whole property on our arrival (even her little zoo with the chickens and goats). She’s very dedicated to please all the guests. We will certainly return here 👌🏻

Let me begin by saying we were heartbroken to leave Badia Pomaio. The drive down the picturesque mountain on the edge of Arezzo felt like leaving family. This last full week of October was the last week before they close the resort for the season. When we arrived, there was one older couple who stayed for one night and when we left 4 days later another overnight couple had arrived for one night. For most of our time there we were the sole guests. We were treated like royalty the entire time. We know that during high time, the staff’s attention would be stretched, however I am certain that we would feel equally special even then. The hotel is gorgeous and tranquil. The views from the property are unbelievable. This restored abbey has all of the modern conveniences and superb design of a luxury resort with the character of a moment in history. Elena, the manager has done an amazing job of restoring the previous hotel and former Abbey by modernizing everything and adding a gorgeous bar to the historic building. The grounds are lovely, highlighting the kitchen garden, a heated infinity pool (which we would have definitely used had I not forgotten my swimsuit!), lounging chairs located to enjoy views, sunsets, and the stars. As we slid into the comfortable bed we were lulled to sleep by reading aloud the nightly printed bedtime story left on our bed evoking legends regarding the Abby. The staff was simply amazing. Davide was extremely helpful and sent us on our day trips armed with information on where to park, restaurant recommendations, and alternative things to do around the area. Sweet Nadia greeted us every morning to introduce the amazing breakfast display and asked about our sightseeing the day before, happily practicing her English and reminiscing about her earlier years living in the US. Mario provided friendly conversation and is the on-site sommelier who gave us a wonderful pre-dinner Tuscan wine tasting when we knew it was going to rain later that day and we would be returning back early for the evening. The meals at Badia Pomaio are simply exquisite and were among our most favorites of our trip to Florence and central Tuscany. The dinner service was fabulous and the chef lives up to his Michelin Star. The wine selection is extensive. The morning chef prepared the best frittatas (recommended by Nadia) that I will continue to dream about on cool weekend mornings. The breakfast buffet was scrumptious and includes seasonal goodies from the garden, Tuscan cheeses and charcuterie, yogurts and fresh toppings, cereals, house made chestnut honey and cakes, breads. Truly impressive. The only negative thing we have to say is that after exploring the hilltop towns we wished we had more time to enjoy the property and it’s amenities...the outdoor terrace, pool and bar. I would recommend reserving one day to relax on site. I sure wish we did!! If you are looking for a beautiful base camp to see Tuscany, this is your spot! Thank you all for a dream vacation!

Dear Amy, It is actually one of the best review we have ever received...and you are actually one of the best guests we have ever had at Badia di Pomaio. Your review is so detailed and exhaustive that none of us woluld be able to write a better descripition of Badia better than yours. You really captured, and experienced the real essence of this magical place: from our infinity pool, or seating in one of the sunbeds or lounging chairs guests can appreciate the stunning views on the Hills and the city of Arezzo, the valley that stratches out between Tuscany and Umbria;;the staff's attention and professional but warm service; the decor and the modern design well balanced with the historical building of the Abbey; the food seved at our restaurant Campo Badia with the typical flavours of Tuscany cousine revised in a modern twist by our chef Davide Canella. We are so glad that you have appreciated our service and have mentioned our names and described how we welcome and assist our guest. Elena, Davide, Nadia, Mario and all the precious staff at Badia di Pomaio would like to thank you for your kind words and hope you will come back to visit us very soon. You will be always welcome!

Excellent, truly excellent ! My wife and I have been staying in some of the finest chateau hotels in both France and Italy for nearly twenty five years. We have now found the very best. Based on a very old monastery, this hotel now incorporates an extremely modern very tasteful extension that has chic, style and sophistication. Nothing can be faulted. Just a few miles outside Arezzo, the hotel has stunning views over the valley with Arezzo nestling in the bottom. The manager, Elena, has trained her staff to the very highest level that way exceeds the service we have received anywhere else. Let me cite one example, although I hope for Mario's sake that he makes it a one off unique service ! My wife and I were in the pool ( an infinity pool, the best we have tried anywhere ). Mario came to take our order for poolside drinks. We ordered two G & T's. As he walked back to the bar, I remembered the truly fabulous smoothies that they served, so I ordered a lime, ginger and cinnamon one. When he returned with the two G & T's a few minutes later, there was no smoothie ; I expect that it was missing due to taking longer to make, and probably by the kitchen staff ? Mario rushed off to get it. Upon returning to the pool to the pool a few minutes later, and stopping only to take his shoes and watch off, he descended the pool steps fully clothed and walked the length of the pool to bring me my smoothie on a silver tray ! If there has ever been any service any better I've never heard of it. We shall be returning again and again.

Dear Steve, It is great pleasure to receive such a great review for one of the greatest guests we have ever had at Badia di Pomaio. We remain ...speechless! The fact that you consider our hotel the finest boutique hotel in Italy and France it is really a great honour for us. You have really explained the real essence of our modern design always respectul of the Monastic building and philosophy. We are very glad our service satisfied your expectations and we really enjoyed the way how you have told the story of Mario serving drinks by the pool! This funny story shows how we feel about our guests and we consider hosting guests at Badia di Pomaio: we always want our guests to feel comfortable, relaxed and we really do everithing ( also to step inside the pool to serve a drink on a silver tray!) to make them happy. We are at your disposal anytime you want to plan another trip to Tuscany; we really want you and wife to come back soon! Take care! Grazie!
