Travelers' Choice
Situated 200 metres away from the Temple of Concordia, a true masterpiece of Doric art dating back to the 5th century B.C., Villa Athena is a place which transcends time and space, where nature art and beauty have been merging together for over 2,500 years in the presence of the gods. Villa Athena is the only 5-star hotel situated within the Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples, which UNESCO has declared a World Heritage Site, with an exclusive direct entrance. A magnificent residence of the end of the 18th century, the villa has 27 between suites and rooms, many of which have view on the Temples or on the garden with ancient olives trees. The garden of the villa blends into the landscape of almond and olive trees that surrounds the magnificent millennia-old temples; from here the Temples of Concordia and Juno can be seen on the Terrazza degli Dei, the restaurant of the hotel. The terrace is open every day, both for lunch and dinner. To complete the beauty of the villa, the hotel has a panoramic outdoor swimming pool, a charming garden bar Federico II, a refined SPA with a wellness area and two cabins for massages and a fitness center. The hotel has free WI-FI and free parking for all the guests.

The hotel is comfortable and located well. However, when traveling in foreign places you depend on accurate information by the people behind the front desk. it is not enough just to be nice and polite; it is important to be honest and correct. This was, unfortunately, not the case with us when the front desk people told us one thing while the business office few days later told us something different and refused to backup their own people. It was just not appropriate as well as not professional. Be careful!

Our room didn’t have a view of the temples, but instead the parking lot. Because of this, there wasn’t anything overly special about the hotel for the price point. Service was good and room was clean and can’t beat the location of Being able to walk right into valley of the temples.

A luxury 5 star hotel located inside the Agrigento Archaeological Park with views of the Temple Concordia. We arrived around 2 pm and were delighted to be able to get into our room with a partial view of the temple located on the garden level near the large luxurious pool. We started out with lunch by the pool and a short swim. I wished we could have spent an entire day just at the pool. It wasn't busy and the water was delightful coolish. Our room was all white, large, quiet and with a roomy bathroom and large shower. The AC was quiet, as was the room. Our rate included breakfast which we took at 7 when they opened. Service at breakfast left me a bit wanting. Food looked great but during the times of covid a server must help you-there's no helping yourself. We were the only ones dining at 7 yet it was a challenge getting food and we didn't enjoy much of the selection settling for just bread and fruit. A major disappointment. That aside it’s a beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: If you pay up (like us for a view of the temple on the hill) be sure you are NOT on garden...

The location of this hotel is already unbelievable, but the experience was made even better by barman Alessandro who treated us like royalty and served us the best Martini and the best Spritz we’ve ever had. Fully recommended, if you are lucky enough to visit this hotel make sure to ask Alessandro for his version of Aperol Spritz or for his Mary Pickford. 5 stars for Alessandro!

Great Hotel with a friendly staff. All top notch with private entrance to the temples, great breakfast with views and good recommendations for eating outside the hotel property. One thing you should be aware of: They had a wedding function when were staying there and as this was happening just outside our room (ground level / with terrace) we couldn t go to sleep until the function was over and the catering guys had packed up (1:30am). We were forced to listen to a cheesy wedding band all evening, at least the wifi was good enough so we could watch Netflix and drown out the renditions of Whitney Houston, Neil Diamond and Earth,Wind & Fire
