Situated 200 metres away from the Temple of Concordia, a true masterpiece of Doric art dating back to the 5th century B.C., Villa Athena is a place which transcends time and space, where nature art and beauty have been merging together for over 2,500 years in the presence of the gods. Villa Athena is the only 5-star hotel situated within the Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples, which UNESCO has declared a World Heritage Site, with an exclusive direct entrance. A magnificent residence of the end of the 18th century, the villa has 27 between suites and rooms, many of which have view on the Temples or on the garden with ancient olives trees. The garden of the villa blends into the landscape of almond and olive trees that surrounds the magnificent millennia-old temples; from here the Temples of Concordia and Juno can be seen on the Terrazza degli Dei, the restaurant of the hotel. The terrace is open every day, both for lunch and dinner. To complete the beauty of the villa, the hotel has a panoramic outdoor swimming pool, a charming garden bar Federico II, a refined SPA with a wellness area and two cabins for massages and a fitness center. The hotel has free WI-FI and free parking for all the guests.

A definitely place to splurge if this area is on your list. Luxury from A to Z. To start with, the view from the rooms of the Valley of the Temples is stunning. The rooms and facilities are terrific and the staff at the desk/pool/spa are wonderful. The private entrance to the archaeological park is wonderful. Breakfast spread is delicious. Pool is serene. Dinner menu is delicious, service is caring, but could be better paced.

Plus points: - made to feel welcome on arrival. - room lovely (get a balcony room with view of temples) - nice but compact immediate grounds / nice pool area. - big plus point to access temples complex directly. - lovely staff - good breqkfast. Development points: - annoying wasps need to be more managed in bar / food area - evening dinner had nice food & staff but service and organisation somewhat chaotic.

There are only two things in Agrigento, the temples and this hotel. If you want to see the ruins (and they are good but not life altering) and you can afford to stay here, it will be a nice experience. Otherwise, plan to see the temples and do not stay in this town.

The reason for a 5 star rating seems to be primarily based on the incredible views of the temple, private entrance to the monuments, the beautiful grounds, and very nice pool. However, this was the least welcoming experience that we have had on our first trip to Sicily. We arrived about and hour early before check in for our one night stay. We were greeted by 2 people at the reception desk with indifference and pretentiousness. We not offered a tour of the venue when we were checked in. Later when we were passing through the lobby, we ended up tagging along with another couple for a tour during their check in. The server in our be bar area in the evening was very unfriendly and kept disappearing when we needed table service. As for the room, it was small and well appointed. It certainly not worth the price for a parking lot view.

The Hotel has the best location right in the middle of Vallei dei Templi with all the beautiful sights an even has its own entrance so you don’t need to stay in line with all the tourists. It’s a real 5 star hotel with very well designed and clean rooms and a beautiful outside area with a great pool and always amazing views. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is a must in the evening and everything was sooo delicious. Also the breakfast was incredible with a lot of delicious choices. My favorite part was the outside bar in the evening where the very professional and super friendly bartender Alessandro mixed the best Gin&Tonic I ever had! I stayed only for one night in September 2021 but came back for an Aperitivo in March 2022 and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed only one night here to visit the Valley of Temples in Agrigento. For such a short time, it was the perfect hotel as hotel guests have a special access to the Valley of Temples which make it very convenient for us. The hotel is very small - only around 27 rooms I believe and thus provides a very intimate atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and very eager to help. Although we opted for a basic room, it was very comfortable. Everything was modernized and high quality and the bed was super comfortable. It faces the garden and has a small balcony attached. Toiletries provided was high quality Ortigia brand and very delicious cookies we’re waiting for us in our room. The restaurant faces the temple and thus provides a beautiful view. At night, with a pianist playing music and a lit up view of the Greek Temple and delicious food, it was a very enjoyable dinner although it was such a short stay for us. We definitely would like to come back.

The view of the Greek Ruins was amazing. The accommodations were excellent. We had a very nice time at the pool. The breakfast on the terrace was outstanding. Our server Antonio was friendly and very attentive! We would certainly return to this amazing location!

Look, let’s be clear: You’re here for the fabulous views and private access to the Valley of the Temples. Is that worth$700/night? That’s for you to decide. We stayed in a temple view room (and I think that’s the only way to justify these prices) for one night. Our room was, unfortunately, infested with ants, so we had to contact the front desk to have it fumigated while we were at dinner. To their credit, they took care of it quickly. The room was small but comfortable, nothing special inside. The terrace where breakfast was served has an incredible view of the Temple of Concordia. We loved the private entrance into the archeological park, which is the main reason why you’re there! Overall, I would say that the access to the valley of the temples was really fantastic, but lower your expectations about what 5-star means here.

We had a very nice al fresco dinner at the Hotel Villa Athena restaurant. As you can see from the photos, the views of the temple are pretty incredible and that was the main highlight of the meal. The service was wonderful, we had a great Sicilian wine, but the food was just okay for the high price. I'd still recommend a visit. The location is unbeatable and we enjoyed our lovely service experience.
