I had a very relaxing and calm getaway in a peaceful place with beautiful surroundings which was exactly what I was looking for. My bungalow had a a nice view towards the garden and the beach, and I could spend hours just listening to the sounds of nature, reading a book (they have a small library) and watching friendly locals walking by on the beach. There are no other hotels or resorts in the vicinity so you have the beach pretty much to yourself. I appreciated the fact that it is an eco lodge and that they are e.g. using solar power and composting toilets and collecting rain water for the showers. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and every morning when I woke up there was a small thermos of local chai (tea) waiting for me on the bungalow terrace table. A beautiful, down to earth place.

If you're looking for a unique Eco Lodge, in the middle of nature, at a turquoise, crystal clear bay, with the most caring and hospitable staff we ever met, great food and beautiful, spacious and eco-friendly built rooms, using only solar power and rainwater, Pemba Lodge is the place to be! An outstanding lodge, with outstanding staff on Pemba Island, with a wonderful friendly and proud population, surrounded by the most beautiful coral reefs for diving and snorkelling! A very special thanks manager/host and his assistant Massoud and Adam, they were amazing! We hope to be back soon!

Pemba Lodge is the only accomodation on this large white sandy beach (very clean and natural, swimming only possible at high tide). Its the perfect quite place to relax. The rooms in the cabins are large and comfortable and have their own balcony. The restaurant offers nice local food. We also enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling - some of the activities offered. The staff was very friendly. As I enjoyed the time very much I prolonged my stay by another 5 days :-)

Initially I was a bit nervous about Pemba Eco Lodge but those fears were soon forgotten. If you want to visit somewhere that isn’t spoiled by tourists, supports local people and has authentic local food then this is the place for you. The beach is incredibly beautiful and offers swings, hammocks and sunbeds for you to relax. The staff are very knowledgeable about the area and will go the extra mile to accommodate you. We especially enjoyed playing games with the staff in bar area. All of the staff were amazing, especially Adam who accompanied us kayaking, to nearby Turtle Beach and on tours to see flying foxes (bats) and spice farms (all arranged by Pemba Lodge). The food was made fresh every day – another thing I was nervous about being vegetarian – but I can honestly say every meal was tasty. My boyfriend ate catch of the day which included crabs, fish and octopus. The filtered water was safe to drink and available from the bar 24/7 along with charging points. If you’re up for an authentic adventure without lots of tourists, then Pemba Lodge is the place to go. We enjoyed the boat through the gorgeous mangroves, buying fresh fish from the local fishermen as you pass them on the water and all of the beautiful nature. We’ll be back one day!
