It is hard to find words to adequately describe the beauty of Shamiani Island off Pemba, where the Pemba Lodge is located. This is truly an untouched place with very few tourists. I was there for ten nights. I was traveling alone. I had a writing project to work on. I mostly read in the mornings then took long walks...

Yes, as others have said, this is truly paradise. Small, very tranquil, beautiful. Excellent service - Mr Ali, the manager, and his staff are always doing something for you - the spiced tea on your veranda at sunrise, a coconut freshly opened so you can drink the milk, meals whenever you wish. Powdery white sands. Incredible views of the warm...

Pemba Lodge is the perfect secluded island destination. I spent 8 days there and could spend at least 8 more. The food was wonderful and the staff super...

We stayed at the lodge for four days. The service was excellent and friendly. Ali does a great job in keeping everything running smoothly. We borrowed the kayaks and paddles around the island - 2.5 hours of real adventure! We hope to return one day.

A small semi-boutique hotel tucked away on Shamani Island - a little island lying on the south-east coast of the much over-looked larger island of Pemba. Ali and his team make a very friendly and earnest attempt to look after their guests, and we certainly appreciated them. We had the hotel almost to ourselves, and therefore the four white beaches...

You arrive to the island by boat along a network of beautiful salt water channels. You sail through the mangroves and past the famous Baobab trees and finally arrive on one of the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen. It really feels like paradise. There is no one around except the local fisherman getting on with their daily lives....
