We booked the Sun Gardens Dubrovni only for one reason - it is a new member of Leading Hotel of the Woorld. We booked an executive floor room. 1. Executive lounge having drinks only after 5pm. In the mean time you should call for a service with a 15 min delay to be served. If you need a new cup you should call again! 2. Only very cheap drinks are served. We saw at the supermarket the wine they served. Was 3.20 Euros a bottle. 3. No food at all. Only nuts and chips are available on the refill basis using small plates bloated from the consumption of the previous guests . The room is good but the furnitures on the terrace had stains and hair from previous guests. During our 4 night stay they were not cleaned. We triyed once the buffet dinner at the Organo restaurant and were very disapointed of the food quality. Very poor choice with the basic performance. The sun roof terrance is fantastic - view, service and food. The only place we felf perfect. Beach is a concrete platform with cheap and very dirty chairs. Once you get to the sea water is fantastic. Generaly the hotel is with potential but I'm wondering how it could be part of Leading hotels of the wolrd - it doesn't even come close. Have an advantage to be on the studding nature palce but barely 4 star hotel managment. Nothing personal as serivice and attention. Note that as the hotel is outside of Dubrovnik the tour operators do not come to pick you up unless you have booked a private tour. Average 35 Euros per way to get to the city of Dubrovnik.…
Booked two rooms Executive Suites oposite corners both identical (one sunrise one sunset) with Lounge access expensive but worth every pound in our opinion My one very very small gripe was my partner always has whipped cream on her coffee which was available almost everywhere except breakfast despite asking more than once ? yet whipped cream on pancakes ? yes unbelievable But everything else Excellent/Perfect
We’ve spent over 2 weeks here. Sun gardens is beautiful and the sea views everywhere are stunning. We might come back as we’ve had an amazing holiday but we have some feedback: 1. The 2 bed residence had lots of space but the rooms, the balcony and entrance way were not of five star standard as not clean enough. The housekeeping service is average. All staff are very friendly but need proper training, 2. The restaurants and on site supermarket are ridiculously expensive. We liked la pasta and the butchers grill was fantastic but very expensive. Cilantro has stunning views but the food was awful and too expensive. 3. It’s further to Dubrovnik than we expected. A 30 minute cab ride. Expect to pay approx €80/€90 for a round trip. 4. The breakfast is chaotic and way too busy. It’s a free for all trying to get a table and a cup of coffee. The omelettes/egg station was hectic and hap hazard. 4. The in-house travel agency is great. We did a few boat trips. They were amazing and the best part of our holiday!…
We have just come back from a week at sun gardens, we had such a fantastic time there, me my husband and 12 year old son. We had a s deluxe suite with incredible views of the sea, it was very spacious , with a separate room for my son. My son did tennis camp every morning with Petro who made it so much fun for him, it was the highlight of his week! Our Room was cleaned daily and fresh sheets. The restaurants were all great, the pasta place was mostly where we ate lunch, we also went into Dubrovnik for dinner and had a great meal in Posat, which i highly recommend! Also ventured into Zaton for dinner twice and had lovely meals and only a 10 min taxi ride. All in all the service was excellent and we would definitely return to sun gardens. Croatia was just stunning ,very sad to leave!…
I have just returned from Sun Gardens having enjoyed an amazing holiday with my husband and two teenage daughters. We had booked a two-bedroom apartment with sea views and on arrival were upgraded to a deluxe apartment which was a great start. The apartment was excellent - plenty of space, beautifully clean with amazing views and a great terrace. For a resort of this size it was consistently peaceful and spotlessly clean, and the restaurants - including for breakfast - were very good indeed. My 14 year old had daily tennis lessons and the coach made her very comfortable and made the experience very positive. I had a great treatment in the spa with Sara who was very professional and knowledgeable. Already planning when we might be able to return - a sincere thank you to all the team.…
Fantastic stay at Sun Gardens. Rooms very spacious, good number of pools and superb restaurants on site. Waiters very friendly and attentive. Special mentions to Otto in the breakfast restaurant and Ivan / Tomislav in the sunset bar. The hotel is about 20 mins from Old Town or Lapad and easily reachable in an Uber (approx £20 each way). If you are looking to split your stay by relaxing at the hotel and some visits to other towns, the Sun Gardens is a great option.
I’m still at this resort for one more night but so far my experience has been over shadowed by rude reception staff and ants in my room and bed. We we first arrived we thought the hotel was stunning and we were upgraded to a suite as they advised it would be more comfortable for 2 adults and child aged 15 years. Which was a nice touch , however the balcony was full of ants. I then later discovered some on my bed, disgusting !! I immediately complained to a lady on reception who phoned housekeeping to come and sort. However there was no apology or gesture of good will. The house keeping lady seemed disgusted when she saw the bed and was very apologetic. We then went for dinner at la pasta which was very poor. The three of us left over half our meal due to how salty they were. We complained about this and were asked to fill in complaint form not something I have experienced from a 5 star resort. The final straw came when we came to go to bed and we realised the sofa was not a sofa bed and my son had no where to sleep. I spoke with the same lady at reception who was extremely rude and said it was my fault as booking.com had said my party was 2 adults and - child aged 0 - she said they had upgraded us for that reason as a standard room only fits 2 adults and a cot. However I tried to rebook on booking com and I can book a standard room for 2adts and 1 child aged 15 - so she was incorrect. My point was even though I was upgraded there was no bed for my son so what was the point. She just could not grasp this. After 10 minutes of difficult conversation she eventually agreed to put a bed in the room. Again really not something I would expect of have experienced from 5 star hotel. We have been in Croatia for 2 weeks staying at 2 other hotel including the Royal Ariston where the service was exceptional.…
Usually by the end of a holiday we are ready to return, but I could happily have set up permanent residence at this hotel. We stayed on floor ‘4’ of the hotel, with 2 twin rooms. There was an initial room allocation issue, but this was resolved quickly and professionally by Antun……who really did well to deal with a grumpy new arrival who had been travelling since 1 am. He is a credit to the hotel. The views from the hotel are magnificent, and everything is spotlessly clean. I’ve seen comments about the cost of various things at the hotel and I’d like to address those. Bottled water - Yes, it is expensive, but do you really need it? Croatian tap water is perfectly safe and without any after taste. Personally I drank it throughout and cannot imagine why anyone would feel the need to rely solely on plastic bottles. The restaurants are certainly no more expensive than those I’ve used at other 5 star establishments. If I had one comment, it’s that the popularity of Le Pasta ought to indicate to management that there is very high demand for more relaxed dining. I’d suggest they open a creperie and sell wraps etc. High profit and would be very popular. Alternatively, they could do with some form of menu rotation to cater for those staying over a week. Almost all the staff are immensely friendly, although I would say those at the sea front bar could learn a thing or two from the rest…..and learn to smile a little more, as they let the side down in terms of customer perception. The spa is great; They could do with ensuring all the thermal facilities are actually running at the right temperature, and routinely check for doors left open as I often found them cold as a result. That said it’s a minor gripe, and easily solved. Sports facilities are great. We played badminton on 2 occasions, and availed ourselves of most of the water sports e.g. jet skis. As with most countries, to officially rent a boat you need a licence which few tourists have. You can rent boats from the hotel agency, but mostly these come with a skipper. If you want to rent a lower powered boat then google ‘pod maslinom’. Bozo runs the place, and is the most friendly chap going. We had an ace day going around Lopud, anchoring up on occasion to dive off. If you want to go out of the hotel then Uber is your friend. Obviously you can book taxis via the hotel, but Uber is ultra convenient. We had great fish at the Dandy restaurant in Zaton. Take the boat to Dubrovnik, as a much nicer way to arrive than road……be aware though, that they need a minimum of 6 to run the service and depending on the day it’s possible they won’t get the numbers…..so have a plan b’. A brilliant hotel. Cannot comment on the Residences, as we really wanted to be in the hotel……..but I’m sure if you are self catering and have access to a car for provisions, they would be great. Writing this depressed on return to the UK, and hoping to get back to this hotel soon!…
Awful hotel, bad service and terrible for children. Doors held open with ash tray holders which in the wind trapped my childs hand. Also witnessed another child fall in the childrens play area onto stones!! STAY AWAY - moving to the Rixos - will post photos (actual ones) and video footage of how bad this hotel is.
We had a wonderful time at Sun Gardens. The best bits are the stunning views from every part of the resort and the wonderful swimming pools. The kids clubs are high quality (complimentary over 3 years and for a few under 3) and they enjoyed them so much that they chose to go. The children’s staff dressed up in the evening and my kids loved seeing them each time and sometimes joining them for the ‘kids party’ (adults can drop them off and enjoy the facilities in the resort.) We enjoyed the restaurants, it was a good variety and good quality with a selection of Croatian wines. They are relatively expensive but not to the point that you feel taken advantage of. All the bars are fabulous. The main downside for us was that we were put in ‘residence 7’. This was the one highest up and furthest away from the lift in the main hotel which wasn’t ideal with my Mum in her 70s and a 2 year old in a pushchair. We stayed in a 2 bed residence that had plenty of space, clean and nicely decorated. The only reason we couldn’t give it…
