We stayed just one night here but will definitely be back as soon as possible. The lodge is beautifully furnished - we had a river facing room which was so tranquil and relaxing we didn't want to move anywhere. What makes this place so special is the staff. Leoni and carol were amazing to the point at the evening bbq... More

Breakfasts were very good with lively warm homemade bread. Especially when taken on the verandah with the view of the river. The staff and owners were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location and proximity to the national park was excellent. We thoroughly recommend booking a safari with them.... More

Booked for 2 nights and stayed 3. Wonderful access to Addo National Elephant Park, gorgeous river to take a paddle on, dunes that go for ever...and should not be missed. But the best part of the stay was Etta and Derek. They are exceptional hosts and have thought of everything one might need. Thank you for the loan of the... More

We booked 4 nights here as the last leg of our tour of South Africa and honestly, it wasn't long enough. The owners Derek and Etta went out of their way to help make our stay magical. Especially as we didn't have a car. Our rooms were amazing. I strongly recommend the Africa and Fish Eagle rooms, the only two... More

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 4 nights and celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary while there. Derek and Etta really extended themselves to make our celebration special. The warmth of their hospitality and the lengths they went to to make our anniversary one to remember is greatly appreciated! The accommodation is spotless and very comfortable, right on the river.... Dungbeetle River Lodge is ideally placed to access the southern entrance of Addo Elephant National Park and is why we chose to stay there and we weren't disappointed. We stayed for 3 nights in the Queen Suite, extremely comfortable with 4 poster bed and sliding patio windows opening onto the balcony overlooking the beautiful Sundays river. It was so peaceful... We stayed here for two nights when traveling the garden route. The lodge was certainly different to the usual type of B&B , as the owners had gone to a lot of trouble to decorate and furnish the rooms with many African artifacts, which added to the character of the place. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The rooms... More

We arrived at Dungbeetle River Lodge in the rain but received a very warm welcome, shown to our suite - Fish Eagle and given a welcome drink. Our suite was superb and in our opinion very special, really comfortable bed, balcony that looks over the river and sand dunes, tea & coffee facilities, fridge - everything that you could possibly... What a find for us! We booked the house as it had three bedrooms all of which were a great size, well decorated and all with an en suite bathroom and one has a view of the Sundays river which was a bonus. The house has a great outlook over the river, we saw some wonderful birdlife and jumping fish... More

We decided to stay at the Dungbeetle River Lodge when visiting Addo Game Park in February this year and what a great decision that was! We couldn't have been made more welcome if we had been family. Etta, Derek and all of their staff went out of their way to make us feel at home from the moment we walked... More
