After three centuries of history, Château de Fonscolombe reopens its gates just a short distance from Aix-en-Provence. Until now strictly private, this residence, classified as a historical monument, is now a 5-star hotel. Since the 18th century, the Château de Fonscolombe has radiated reflections of History, the spirit of the Enlightenment and the glow of festivities. In gilded splendor of the completely restored family Château, the adventure of a new lifestyle is unfolding.

We originally booked our reservation in Aix, but due to some issues with that hotel, we looked online for a hotel/Chateau to stay at outside of Aix. We found Chateau de Fonscolombe, called and they had a room for us. We stayed in the older Chateau. This place was magical, well adorned with everything well thought out and planned. The staff were wonderful. Highly recommend!

Spent 3 amazing nights at the Chateau de Fonscolombe and loved ever minute. The chateau is beautifully decorated and well-appointed and the property is idyllic. Our room, with its four-poster bed, sitting area, clawfoot tub, and gorgeous views of the surrounding property, was absolutely perfect. The staff also do a wonderful job of making you feel at home. We particularly enjoyed drinking some of the house wine (the Chateau has its own winery) in the garden and by the pool, going for a bike ride around the property, dining at the restaurant, L'Orangerie, and playing pool in the billiards room. The Chateau is also very close to Aix-en-Provence and the hill towns of the Luberon (Lourmarin is only about 20 minutes by car). Would love to return soon!

I am sitting in my spacious room on my last night of a 14 day stay. I can't begin to say enough about the staff, the property and the peace and tranquility the property provides. First I would like to bring special notice to Charlotte who ensured that all things I needed or wanted happened. The entire staff ensured that my room was always clean and fresh, made any reservations I needed, and gave good advice about what to do or where to visit. Then they followed up when I returned each day to see if I had enjoyed myself. The property itself is as grand and imposing as the pictures show. What the pictures don't get across is the soft murmuring of the fountains, the chirping of the birds, and the sense of peace when you sit out under the large branching trees. The restaurant incredible. The food is creative, well presented, and interesting. I had lamb tonight which was extremely tender, had a sauce that was served on the side, not just poured on, and just melted in your mouth. Needless to say I would recommend this just about anyone. The only downside I see heare is that while children are welcome and they do have a playroom and swingset for them, the chateau is a fair distance from things. Kids might get somewhat restless. Otherwise this chateau is a 10!!

Ah the tranquility and peace with the Provencal sunlight. This was a superb break on our two week France trip - lovely restored chateau, beautiful rooms and warm service. Extensive grounds to take a peaceful walk, restore your thoughts and get some quiet time. We stayed here for two nights and I wish we had stayed longer... the service was professional and yet warm - they put together customised menus for our meals and were very generous with helping on anything. The chatueau has a children's room which is really a welcome when travelling with young ones to keep them occupied. Our daughter had a wonderful time there. I would definitely stay here again.

This castle has been restored with concrete. The noise from the room above ours is very loud since there is no carpet on the floors. Quite disappointing. The restaurant is beautiful but the food is poor, I guess there is no great chef in the kitchen. I do not recommend this place to my best friends.
