We needed a family break away and Delia, Bird and their wonderful boys made us feel so very welcome. Wonderful and perfect for us in every way. Nothing is too much trouble for this amazing family. Our daughter had the best of times playing basketball, kite flying and fishing with the boys. Delia and Bird’s local knowledge is incredible- and anything we needed or had questions about they were able to help us out. The gardens provide space and shade for rest, the pool area is lovely and the pool the perfect size for swimming and for splashing about having fun. Our family sized apartment is cool and airy and has a lovely feel. We love the position opposite Mullins beach and so many places to walk to. Holetown and Speightstown in easy reach. There is currently work on-going and it looks like the future will be even better for this gem. We have all had the best of times and extended our trip to spend more time here - smiling, swimming and sleeping! Our baby girl started sleeping 12+hours at night here…. Which made our holiday even better. THANK YOU so much for making our time with you just the best - we will be back for sure…. X…
Quarantine apartment ONLY - thank god! *PLEASE LOOK AT THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS - they are a TRUE reflection. I personally think the owners are making their own reviews. We arrived at approx 9pm - upon arrival there is no official check in/reception. We had to find the owner and knock on their own house door to find out where we were going. We were allocated to our room. The condos are EXTREMELY DATED and TIRED and DIRTY. Within 20 minutes our feet were black from the floors - we had to request a mop and bucket the next day to clean the floors. There is no safe, no hair dryer. The bathroom is full of limescale on the grout and shower head. The shower has zero pressure and a minimal amount of water coming out. There is only air con during the evening, the hot water is run offs solar powering - so best get your shower in the day rather than at night as it much colder. The air con doesn’t reach the kitchen area - and with it being a gas stove only working it becomes a sauna in the kitchenette. The kitchen has a cooker that only works the hob and not the oven as the plug doesn’t even reach the wall. The bed linen was stained. Broken bin - not ideal in this heat with food. The grounds themselves are unloved and dishevelled. There are broken down cars on site with lots building materials and rubbish laying around. The pool isn’t cleaned out of leaves/sand and cement bags laying around. There is building works going on - but it seems to be on their private property rather than the establishment itself we were told. The lovely gardens - I am not sure where they are as there isn’t any! Our condo looks over the car park. Delia and Bird have been nice enough. The cleaner, Ena was very sweet and polite. The images are out dated on all media platforms and not a true reflection of the state of the establishment. We have had to stay her as we are unvaxxed and couldn’t wait to get out! We would not be here unless we had too! Booking.com is also the same with lots of reviews that aren’t accurate. One with my name on at the current time I’m staying here. Which I definitely didn’t write. What are the chances of another person with the same name writing a review? I don’t think so. I think Delia tweaks the review but keeps the peoples names … maybe for auditing purposes for things like booking.com if they want to check? We booked directly ; I think Delia has then booked the reservation through booking.com as she is technically paying herself and then is able to write the review - she charged us more what booking.com ask for. Booking.com - £90 p/n for 2 people sharing we have been charged. £114 p/n. You get a daily Wi-Fi disruption and it’s not ideal that the modems for Wi-Fi are in other guests room so you have to wait - also I think our room was the only room without a direct telephone to Delia. Here are some pictures to back up what I’m Saying ….. BE CAREFUL!…
Very welcoming and relaxing place. Clean, comfortable, beautiful gardens and immaculate pool. So near delightful Mullins beach. Delia and Bird were so welcoming and helpful. If you want a really relaxing holiday full of friendly people, this is the place!
Our 6th stay here with Delia and Bird who welcome you with open arms and big hearts. Everything you need is close by, bus, garage selling all convenience goods, beach and the great new Sea Shed beach bar on Mullins beach plus fantastic Bombas restaurant a 5 minute stroll up the road. Delia and Bird host a ‘get to know you’ BBQ weekly to meet other guests. Amazing how many returning guests we meet each year. A great place for privacy in tropical garden surroundings with monkeys running through. Thanks again for such a great stay, see you next year. Terri and David
The hosts are warm and welcoming and the condo is in a nice spot very close to Mullins Beach. There isn’t much to do in the immediate area, Holetown is a short bus ride for a choice of places to eat and drink. The condos do need refurbishment but this shabby Caribbean style suited many who were repeat visitors. An upgrade of towels and bedding would make a huge difference as would bins being emptied each day. Loved the gardens and spent hours watching the wildlife.
We have just spent a really enjoyable and pleasant 10 night stay at the Legend Gardens Condos. The room was very clean and has good space, everything worked well and in good condition. The best part of our stay was the friendly hosts Delia and husband Bird who really took care of all the guests, from the great fish supper evening they provided in the gardens, to taking us with their two boys to the open air cinema which my daughter and I really enjoyed. The gardens are full of interesting plants and animals, there are monkeys passing through each day which are great to see, tortoises and interesting birds and bats. Our room was comfortable and quiet at night as the condos are set back a good way from the road, but are only a short walk to the wonderful Mullins Beach with good restaurants and the new Sea Shed restaurant on the beach. We hope to return again next year.…
The condo itself was clean but it was the only one finished in the surrounding under construction units. Grounds were overgrown and had that uncared for look about them. In a very quiet area of island and you definitely need a car to get around. Beach which is a short walk from condo has been taken over by a private beach club which makes others using beach feel uncomfortable. Not much happening on this end of island so if you crave quiet, rustic, unfinished units around you then this is the place for you. The owners seem very nice but you can’t charge going rates for a 4* when it is a 2* property. Sorry to have to write this but others need to know what they are paying for.
We have never stayed on the west coast of Barbados before. And we were pleasantly surprised, the condo was well appointed. The pool area was great. Hosts very helpful. Short walk to the beach. We managed to see fire flies from our condo too. Monkeys entertain us.
Excellent stay with friendly hosts Delia and Bird. Shabby chic comfortable and well appointed apartments. Lovely pool area and gardens. Friendly, helpful staff and easy to make friends with other guests. The weekly barbecues were extremely popular.
Having joined my wife in Grenada after she had been travelling through the Caribbean avoiding resorts, cruise ship locations and determinedly eating and staying locally, we arrived in Barbados full of trepidation as we assumed it would be hard to do all of the above on such a developed island. Especially on the West coast and so close to such a lovely beach like Mullins. So we feel very lucky to have come across Legend Gardens in our trusty Lonely Planet Guide. Owned and run by a lovely local family who live on site and treat all guests as their house guests, taking us to buy food from the local supermarkets and expertly recommending things to see on the island that they had worked out would suit our taste and interests. It’s no wonder that nearly everyone else here are regulars and who have become friends of the owners, Delia and Bird. We have huge respect for them both in maintaining their beliefs in an area in danger of succumbing totally to the developers dollar. What a find - we feel privileged to have met them, heard their stories, shared their hospitality and that of the other guests and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of their family for the last 8 days. Thank you! …
