We have just returned from a 2 week tour of Oman .
Staying at many hotels but without exception this was in a class of its own.
Everything from the greeting from the 3 brothers that own it to every single member of staff
excellent. So much so we returned on our final night and welcomed like old friends.

Stayed just over a week at the hotel. Very spacious rooms with bedroom. living room, kitchen/dining area and 2 toilets. Not luxurious but good for the price. A bit out of the way however bus stop just outside which takes directly into Ruwi (little India) and from there you can get to most parts of Muscat really cheap. For less than a fiver you could travel most of Muscat and return to your hotel via public buses (red) - the buses are modern with air conditioning . Taxis are available most of the time outside however you will need to haggle as they are expensive - recommend bus. Also if you are up for it you could walk to al-bustan (about 30 to 45 mins walk) - lovely little beach used by locals.
The Hotel staff are very friendly and will try there best to meet your needs. All can speak good English. Rooms are cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis with water provided daily - advice bring your own shower gel as only soap and shampoo provided.
Breakfast is sufficient but not too much choice - you can ask for fresh omelettes to be made.
Nice little pool up stairs - they are in process of building a gym as well.
Next door are local shops and take aways. Recommend 'Star Cafe' - cheap and gives large portions. Offer Indian, Chinese and Philippine food.
All in all a good hotel and one I would recommend and would probably stay again if I visit Muscat again.

Our party of 8 people has just returned from Oman, where we stayed in Pioneer Hotel apartments at the beginning and the end of our stay in the country.
We were all extremely happy with both the service and the accommodation provided in these apartments. The staff could not have been more helpful...they were welcoming, always courteous and ready to help. The apartments themselves were big, well appointed, very clean and well-finished.Two bathrooms per apartment were a luxury that we really appreciated.

As an example of how well we were treated, we had our last night in Muscat in the Pioneer Hotel apartments. However, our flight did not leave until late the following evening, so although we did not pay for another night's stay we were allowed to leave our luggage there all day, return mid-afternoon and have a swim in their pool and a shower prior to facing the long trip across town to the airport. We have never had that level of service from any other hotel, and we were very appreciative of their care flexibility.

You do need a car as the hotel is some way out of the centre and all the attractions and restaurants are some distance away. The hotels restaurant is fine for the breakfasts..we did not have an evening meal there, so cannot comment on this.

All in all, we would really recommend Pioneer Hotel apartments, and if we return to Oman, would revisit them without hesitation.

The Pioneer Hotel Appartments are quite new.
Staff at check-in was fast and helpful.
The Appartments are really spacious!
We had a 'one-bedroom' with a kitchenette, a lounge, 2 large flat screen TVs and two bathrooms with shower.
All was very new and clean.
Breakfast was included and always fresh prepared. The philipine girl at the restaurant was very lovely and did a good job.
The location of the hotel not so close to the tourist attractions, but with a car you'll get there in a short time. The staff at reception is helpfull to arrange a guided tour for you, if you ask for.
We enjoyed our stay and would come back.

At first, my mom and I were hesitant to stay in an independent hotel that we'd never been at before, but the experience far exceeded our expectations, and was much more gratifying than simply staying in a run-of-the-mill chain hotel. The rooms were clean, the view was great, and the staff were always eager to help. The owners were exceptionally kind and friendly, and readily helped us decide on and locate various activities. Will definitely be staying here again (:

If you are looking for a nice place to stay without going broke in Oman, look no further than the Pioneer Apartment hotel. We booked a Deluxe one bedroom apartment and were surprised about the quality of the furnishings and the size of the unit guaranteeing a comfortable stay usually offered by high-end hotels. Staff is overly friendly. Breakfast is offered in the restaurant in the basement and goes beyond the usual continental fare. Don't forget to checkout the rooftop pool. As the hotel is at the southern end of Muscat, it is advisable to ensure detailed driving directions to the hotel. Check out the hotel's website to get a planning start.

We stayed 3 nights during our vacations trip and it was the best hotel among all !
We had a family apartment, very clean and spacious.
Best of it was the friendliness of the staff (special mention to Sudesh at reception who went up beyond our expectations and needs !!!!!)

We strongly recommend anyone to experience a stay at the Pioneer Hotel!

P.S. Lovely rooftop swimming pool for chilling and resting in the sun.. ;)

Stayed at Pioneer for a night with 2 friends. As we had a car, it didn't matter that we were slightly out from the main tourist areas.

Friendly staff, clean and quiet environment.

Only problem is the shower doesn't come with curtains, so the floor gets really wet.

My friend and I were looking for a place to stay in Muscat for one evening. This place was amazing! We booked a standard room - but the room had a separate bedroom, lounge and kitchen with two bathrooms. The reception staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. Clean and excellent customer service. The rooftop pool is beautiful. A short taxi ride from the souk and corniche which the hotel will organise. Just wonderful. We could have stayed here longer for sure! Excellent value for money x x

I have stayed in many of the hotel apartments throughout Muscat as well as all the luxury hotels, and I was blown away by the service, comfort and quality of the rooms, and overall excellence of the Pioneer Hotel Apartments. Typically for long stays or when I am traveling with a group, I am resigned to run-down hotel apartments or tiny adjoining rooms in hotels. At Pioneer I felt that my one bedroom apartment was even nicer than many of the hotel rooms I have stayed in, with well designed, brand new furnishing a separate living room, lovely views of the mountains, great room service, and a fabulous rooftop pool. The service, from check-in to check out was impeccable. The owners are on-site daily and get to know their guests, happy to assist with any need or request. They are quite knowledgeable about Oman and also lead day-trips and overnight excursions out of the city. The high-level of hospitality training is apparent in the way they are always available to help and welcome guest, but are not intrusive or overbearing at all. The location is a bit far from the other hotels in the Qurum Area, and about a half hour from the airport, but it takes only 10 minutes to reach the Al Bustan Beach and is only about 10 minutes from the historic Mutrah souk and old Muscat neighborhoods. This is the ideal place for a longer stay or for those traveling with friends or family as a group. I had an absolutely fantastic experience during the nearly two months I stayed at Pioneer.
