After traveling thru Europe for two weeks it was fantastic to stay at the Bleu Raisin. Although you don't have all the whistles and bells of a high end hotel, the serene environment far exceeds the lack of these. Yves and Sandra were some of the best hosts we met during out month tour of Europe. Really enjoyed relaxing in the evenings sharing stories over wine and cheese. there are so many good things I could say about the Bleu Raisin but the best compliment I could give would be to say this is the only place we extended our stay during our journey.

Beautiful place, very friendly owner, clean and well organized. Breakfast, very simple and well delivered. If i would have to return to this area i would try to stay on this property again. I arrived in the evening, recommend that anyone staying here arrive early so can enjoy the stunning views. Merci Yves.

We returned to Bleu Raisin 4 years after our first visit, because it is such a lovely place to stay, and our previous visit was just too short. The peaceful setting in the vineyards, the beautifully decorated and comfortable room and the tasty breakfasts are all top rate and were just as we remembered them from 4 years ago. But first and foremost, you won't find more welcoming hosts. Yves and Sandra have done a wonderful job of creating a special haven for their guests. We learned that first hand when my luggage didn't arrive on our flight from the US; they moved heaven and earth (and made numerous telephone calls on our behalf) to reunite me with my suitcase, leaving me free to enjoy my vacation. I will never forget their thoughtfulness to us.

This is truly a lovely B&B. We stayed one week. The surroundings are beautiful. It's quiet and it smells of lavender (at least it did in July). Spacious rooms with all the comfort you need. Grapes as far as you can see, fantastic wine, needless to say. Sandra & Yves are the best hosts you can wish for. They will do anything to make your stay as relaxed and pleasant as possible. Great breakfast, fine garden with a view over the grapevines. Value for money. You won't be disappointed.....

So disappointing!! Our experience at Bleu Raisin was very different than the other reviewers in that had we not prepaid, we would have left after the first night. First of all, I felt I was staying in an airless tomb. The pictures show a window above the bed--that must be photo shopped. There is no window or fan anywhere, only a door. If you want any air, you have to leave your door open all night??? I don't think so--I don't like the idea of critters in my bed room. It was not hot when we were there but still you need some air--can't imagine what it's like in the hot summer. The lighting was so low that you could not read or see yourself well in the mirror. Then there was the shower which in the pictures looks really cool and modern. It is but unfortunately the drain is way too small and the water flows out everywhere and since you only have one small towel each (changed every two days), you can't wipe up the water so you are walking around the bathroom in a lake. Because of all this humidity, nothing dries. The towel warmer is the only solution to sort of having a dry towel. There is no desk and only one small chair in the room so you have to go outside your room in the gravel driveway to sit at a table with a chair. I love being able to mingle with other guests at a B&B but since there is no real common area, you only see the other guests (there are 3 rooms) in the gravel driveway or at breakfast. In the common area there is a big dining table but no comfy chairs or places you could use the internet. Speaking of the internet, some reviewers talked about the great internet but we did not have that experience. It was very spotty in the rooms. You could never be sure of service. At other B&B's, there is an honor system for the bar or snacks. There is nothing at Bleu Raisin. God forbid you arrive on a Sunday when stores and most restaurants are closed. You are out of luck. Also, other B&B's have material available for the chateaux to visit, or maps (in this case for St. Emilion) or places to go. Not at Bleu Raisin. It would take Yves one trip to a couple of tourist offices to gather up free material. We asked about his favorite chateaux and were told there were 900 in the area and that was it. He should have some favorites and relationships with those chateaux so that his guests would have some direction. I can't imagine staying here if you are not very interested in wine so he should be prepared as are other B&B's in the area. As for the breakfasts, they were the most basic of any in our 5 week European trip. Nothing special at all. We saw Yves briefly at breakfast, to check-in and for him to collect our $$$ and that was it. I will say that the setting for Bleu Raisin is beautiful right in the middle of the grapevines and near St. Emilion which is charming. Our other accommodations were wonderful experiences--Bleu Raisin was not.

Response from bleuraisin, Owner at Bleu Raisin Saint Emilion
Responded Jul 13, 2016
We are sorry to hear that your stay has not been as you expected, and most of all, that you have not discussed it with us during your stay. We appreciate any feedback from our guests, as it allows us to improve our offer continuously. However, we regret to see your giving some incorrect information in your review. The picture with the window above the bed that you are mentioning is a picture of the room next to yours, Joie de Lavande. On our website each room has its own detailed photos, so you can make your choice before booking. We never photoshop any pictures. What you see is what you get, and that is a compliment that we often get from our guests. The room is well ventilated and in case that should not fill your needs, we even have fans at your disposal. As for the shower, there is a standard drain which should cope with a normal flow of water. We regret you did not inform us if you thought there was an issue; we could have checked and solved it. Furthermore each bathroom is provided with 2 large and 2 small towels plus a bath mat. For environmental reasons we indeed change them every 2 days, but if we notice towels are too wet, we always change them immediately. Concerning drinks and snacks, there are free coffee and tea making facilities at our guests' disposal in the dining room throughout the day. If you wish something else, you can always ask us and we are happy to serve you. As even mentioned on our website, we also propose a local cheese and cold cuts dish for people who prefer to eat in or for Sundays when less restaurants are open. We are surprised to see your comments on our common areas as well. Each room has its own terrace in the patio, there is a large garden with several relaxing corners and dining areas and inside there is the dining room with seats by the fireplace, good wireless internet access and a library full of information on the area, activities, etc. We even made our own guide with the highlights of the region, tours, etc in order to give our residents an overview of all the possibilities. On top of that, we are always at our guests' disposal for recommendations on wine tours and tastings. Customer satisfaction and personal service is what we stand for and what our guests very much appreciate. We are sorry to hear that our effort seemed not to be up to your personal needs.
