Valentin Cayo Cruz stands out for its attentive and friendly staff, with many guests commending the service quality. The hotel's atmosphere offers a mix, from tranquil to vibrant, though some yearn for more energy. Clean, spacious rooms with stunning views earn high marks, as do the well-kept beaches and food variety. However, some travelers have encountered issues with water supply and shortages. Despite the overall cleanliness and praised amenities, there are concerns about the value, with a few guests feeling the cost is not fully justified by the services provided.

A nice quiet resort for adults. We took the Alegance package and we found it was worth it despite the low season occupancy. We spent 14 days surrounded with amazing staff.

Roxana the Service Manager organized a celebration for my parents' wedding anniversary and it was perfect. We had the service of our concierges all along and they were awesome !

Grounds were well maintained, food was good for Cuba, we had plenty of choices everyday. The buffet had a variety of choices. Less options in terms of vegetables, but meat, pasta, bread, and fruit in abundance. Desserts and ice cream to top it off. At night we preferred the À la carte restaurants.

Rooms are large, clean and well maintained. For Alegance guests, I can confirm that the refregirator is restock everyday with water, cola and bear, towels are changed twice a day (except a day or two where they were changed once) and beach towels are in the rooms. For the first time in our many many trips to Cuba, we did not have any challenge getting clean, dry beach towels. They were changed daily, which we really appreciated.

Beach was beautiful and perfect for a swim, soft sand and turquoise water ! Wind was strong and weeds accumulated at one point. The staff worked very hard to clean the beach daily, which was remarkable due to the amount of work ! Only thing that could be improved, is that there is no bathroom near to the beach.

In the lobby bar, there is a smoke free section close to the front desk. Most guests respected the signs, which is rare in Cuba, and was really appreciated.

Pools are refreshing and cleaned daily. Pool chairs are super comfortable ! We really liked that the pool area was equipped with seating chairs. It's nice sometimes to take a break from lounging chairs.

Entertainment staff was great, a little junior but still learning.
The dancers were awesome and continued the shows despite the low occupancy. Shout out to Miguel, very talented young men. The dancers performed at the buffet, pool area, lobby and À la carte restaurants regularly.

Overall, a great trip ! I would recommend to those who wants a quiet resort and know Cuba and its struggles.

Bring some mosquito repellant !

We were here Feb 15-22nd. We had an amazing time. There was lots of food every day, we had pancakes, eggs, toast, beans for breakfast. Lots of fresh salad, fish, pork, rice for lunch and supper. I would suggest bringing peanut butter and ketchup. We had coffee about half the mornings we were here. The mornings they were out we made coffee in our room (bring Nespresso original coffee pods, not vurtuo pods). They had lots of drink mix (fruit punch, lemonade, strawberry, orange, Pina colada) and beer. Lots of hard liquors (gin, whiskey, rum, vodka). We had wine a couple times. Our room was nice, water pressure went down sometimes but was never out for long. Air conditioning worked perfectly. The beach is beautiful, you can walk for miles on one side of it. The pools are nice, one large pool with a bar and music and 2 quieter ones on either side of the resort. The staff are beyond nice, please bring some American dollar bills to tip them as well as essential toiletry items they need. Don't tip in Canadian coins, their bank won't let them deposit coins and they can't buy stuff with them so they're essentially useless unless they can find people at the resort to trade their coins with for bills. The only quam we had was that they ran out of bottled water for 4 days, but there's nothing the staff can do about that, they had no bottles left, it was out of their control. They filled our cups at the bar with filtered tap water, it didn't taste great but it didn't make us sick either. Overall we had a very enjoyable vacation and the people here are doing their absolute best with what they have. If you want a completely hiccup free vacation pay double and go to another country. If you can go with the flow a little, have an open mind and stay positive, you'll have a wonderful trip.

We were at the resort from Feb 1-8/25. We had our annual girls trip to Cuba, this time going to Valentin Cayo Cruz. We were the only 2 that came off the bus to this resort. The Valentin only had about 120 guests, only about 10% occupancy, with the majority of people being French Canadian.
The resort is primarily an older group, this is not a party atmosphere, but it suited us just to relax.
We were in block 4, with no major issues or concerns. The rooms, beds were comfortable and a big plus for me was the screen doors to the patio enabling me to listen to the ocean at night. I am not an AC kinda girl. They need to have at least one English speaking news channel on the tv so you know what's going on at home. Wifi works well throughout the resort and just an fyi, it gets cut off at noon on the day you check out... not good when the bus isn't picking you up until 6pm.
The food greatly improved on our last 2 days and I believe it was because of the 2 new chefs that came aboard. Food was basic at best, and had lots of room for improvement. The ala carte restaurant could only be booked one day at a time at 9am in the lobby. Only one restaurant open a day.
The grounds and hotel was impeccable! Everyone so friendly. Good selection of drinks at the lobby bar.
The evening animation team could greatly improve. It was the same thing with a slight variation every night. It's no wonder they had challenges getting folks to go to the show at night.
We come to Cuba for the beach. The beach was stunning, lots of lounge beds and shade. Unfortunately the water at this time of year in Cayo Cruz was so rough with lots of waves. Too rough to swim in or relax on a float. Constant winds.... too windy. You cannot use the pedal boats or the hobie craft because water is too rough. The resort workers told us to come after April to avoid the rough water and wind. Although we enjoyed the resort, we will not be back to Cayo Cruz because of the wind and rough water.

A secret spot, a sublime and romantic hotel only for adults of 5 *****, in Cayo Cruz literally surrounded by all sides of a blue so deep turquoise that it does not seem real.. I loved everything and every moment, highlighting the food, the service, the decoration, the cleanliness, the sympathy of a people who have a real smile, the animation team, the dancers the activities that embrace both those who travel alone and in group, the pools, every detail in a service of excellence. I miss so much...

The Valetin Cayo Cruz did not disappoint. We had a lovely 14 day stay and relaxation and sun was top priority and that is definitely what we got! We were greeted when we arrived by Deamis who got us all settled in our ocean view room without delay. We met so many wonderful staff/people there on our stay. Smaller pool over by block 8 we met Michel who gave me a little craft he made and Yousmel who always made sure our chairs were clean and put out our towels. Getting a lounger was never an issue. We did move to the bigger pool on our last week as we were able to get in the shade. Alfredo was always there getting our chairs ready. He was always busy cleaning pool and area but always had an eye out for guest coming so he could help them. We enjoyed our conversations with him. We did all the A la Cartes during our stay and our favourites were the Mexican and the Italian. The wait staff are amazing and they all work very hard and such long days.
A few names that we connected with:
Geraldo Alegance bar was always a pleasure. So friendly and welcoming.
Jose Ley buffet
Dayenis buffet
Danyeisis server in buffet and for our special seafood dinner
Idael main server a la carte
Ioamnet was our server at the al la carte
Adaily
Roxana was very sweet buffet
Zuluany at buffet she always was smiling and knew when we needed something
Yulenni lobby bar.
While we were there I celebrated a birthday and Libini from Alegance presented me with a cake.

Some little things to point out, we have been to Cuba 3 other times before Cayo Cruz. We knew that there were shortages. We do not go to Cuba for the food but that being said we always had something to put on our plates. Yes it can be repetitive but they do the best with what they have. I always never took for granted what they have in their own homes to eat compared to what we had.

*The people and beaches are the reason we visit Cuba!

After reading previous reviews we were a little skeptical about our trip. However, once we were there, (Feb 24th-March2nd) we found it hard to believe some of the negative reviews as it didn't fit our experience. We had upgraded to Alegance Deluxe garden view room and were pleasantly surprised to not only have garden view, we could also see the Ocean from our room which was absolutely beautiful view!! (we were in building 8) The pools, grounds, gardens, lobby were all kept clean. The beach staff were working daily to keep the beach clean from seaweed, which was a stunning beach, we would walk daily for miles. Libni and Deimis from the Alegance concierge were amazing, from booking all our a la carte dinners, booking massages, and getting our late check out covered, they went above and beyond to make our stay stress free. We knew coming to Cuba there are shortages & we knew the struggles Cuban resorts are having with some food items, we always had an excellent meal, from a la cartes to the buffets the 24h snack bar, and the Alegance lounge. The lobster dinner was probably our favourite. The ladies at the main lobby bar/Cafe made the best cappuccino first thing in the morning, mmm delicious.

All in all our trip was great, we came to Cuba for Sand, Sun, Beaches, Pools, the people. Valentine delivered what we wanted. Not every traveler is the same but we quite enjoyed ourselves for the 7 days we were there.

Cheers to a great Trip

We had a great time at the Valentin from the moment we arrived. Checkin was fast and convenient, our room (building 6) was large, and had a beautiful view of the Ocean.

Good WiFi everywhere on the resort, however you might want to use a VPN as I heard some websites were blocked for some people.

Leo the bell boy was especially helpful showing us around and helping with any needs we had!

The beach was beautiful, and everyone working down there were friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Marlon Sr and Marlon Jr, and Anexis at the bar.

The entertainment staff were full of energy, and friendly. The shows were all good, with a special shout out to the singer!

Lobby bar staff were ALL attentive and friendly. Never waited long for a drink, and the coffee was fantastic.

Snack bar were great too.

We did two outings, one of the Cayo Coco large Catamaran. I highly recommend it! The one to Camaguey was interesting, but wasn't a highlight.

Yes their were shortages, no pop or juice, however the food was decent, and we always had something good to eat.

We brought some gifts for the Cubans we met, and they especially appreciated batteries, skin cream, and basic over the counter medication.

Tip in American one's, but please make sure the bills are in good condition (not heavily creased or torn) as their banks will not take them.

We brought ones and 5s, and we're able to make change. Off resort, only American.

Bring Bug Spray!

I had a great time at the Valentin Cayo Cruz in February 2024. The hotel is nice and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful and the beach is the best I've seen (about 15 other destinations I can compare it to). There was plenty of food choices every day. The buffet always had a variety of veggies, fish, chicken, beef, fruits and desserts. The snack bar and à la carte restaurants were also a very good option to eat. We had water in the rooms and you can also have a bottle re-filled and any of the bars. Overall, I had a great experience and I'll definitely be going back!

Splurged on the Alegance upgrade and enjoyed the week which started with exceptional concierge services of Orestes. What a treat to have a seat in an air conditioned office with a drink delivered by Geraldo while going through the checkin process. Another treat was having the a la carte, massage and lobster dinner reservations all taken care of for me as part of the Alegance package.
Nelson drove us to the room (on an upper floor as requested). Beautiful room with a view of the quiet pool and a glimpse of the sea between buildings. The maid was friendly and ensured the room was always refreshed and replenished with beer, water and fresh towels.
I'm a beach person so spent a lot of time there. Lots of beach staff to help with chairs, clean up the stuff the sea brought in. Manuel is often running to do something for a guest. I saw a lifeguard assisting an older couple in/out of the waves. At high tide on the windy days the water was right up under the shade covers. There was still lots of time in the day to walk the beach...and yes there are bugs so be prepared for that. Check out the sunrise over the water. The twice daily smoke treatment around 6am and 6pm are times to be indoors for a few minutes.
There are 3 hobie cat boats and I enjoyed the time sailing with Marlon, Danny and Alfredo. There is some wildlife including an iguana to be seen along the rocky shore beyond the white pavilion so good luck spotting them.
The lobby entertainment in the evenings was something exceptional and I only learned about it from other tourists. Check it out 7:30-8:30pm ish...especially on the nights that the Sax player is there. Hopefully there will be postings in the lobby about what is happening each evening so you can be sure to make time for this..
The shows were a variety of events like dancing, fashion shows and name that tune that start later at 9:30pm. Given a choice, I would have preferred more solo musical talent later in the evening in the lobby.
All the staff I interacted with were pleasant and friendly including the gardeners I encountered - Antonio and Pacheco.
Only time I left the campus was to check out the shopping area being developed a short walk away. It was fun to see what was available there and it's going to be beautiful when it's all finished and operational.
It was worth the 1.5 hour bus ride to get there!

My first trip to Cuba, was very disappointing. Very unorganized, made it difficult to relax. From fighting to get our Ala Carte's set up (people there for 2 weeks had scooped all the prime spots for the entire time we were there, was told to take the 930pm reservation for Italian, 3 times in the week, or get nothing. Quote "we need more restaurants but we don't have any more so take what we have"), to being told the excursion we purchased through the sunwing app on the plane may not be honoured, to being ignored by our Rep just made the first day and a half terrible. On our second full day there, I started experiencing stomach pains and diahrea every time I ate the buffet food. Opted to try the 24hr snack bar as alternative. No fries the entire week, had a hot dog and burger once and waited an hour and a half one day for a personal size pizza. The waitress had to go back and berate the cook to get our food. Totally understaffed. Ignored at bars, took 20 minutes to get a drink only to be told there is only rum, or no ice so can not have mixed drinks. Dirty towels in room that I placed on shower floor, were refolded and placed on counter to reuse. The gifts I left housekeeping were not worth the service received. The building is new and beautiful, the beach is gorgeous and staff on beach attentive, the entertainment was fabulous, but it lacked everywhere else. I came home disappointed and sick.
