The rooms are well equipped, air conditioned and spacious. Some rooms are only accessible by taking a few stairs so just reach out to the hotel before booking if you want to avoid being booked in one of those rooms. The property is very well maintained and absolutely stunning. Hotel and restaurant staff is very friendly. The menu is limited but the food is excellent. It's unfortunate some folks have some bad reviews about the restaurant but I think they fail to realize that hotels and restaurants on these kinds of islands have access to limited supplies and can't keep unlimited stock. You're not on a Carnival cruise! Lastly, Bequia is an amazing "slice of real Caribbean" to use another reviewer's title and if you think it will be a cheap vacation that will have wide walkways with guardrails, no mosquitoes, unlimited restaurants and where everything just happens instantly you shouldn't come here. BUT if you are an "island" person looking for a chill and relaxing Caribbean vibe this is the place to be. And if you do make it here you must at least once go to Bar-One.

Not ones to review usually but we wanted to share and echo what many before us experienced; holiday bliss. After untold lockdowns stuck inside, it was a breath of fresh air to escape to such a beautiful, unspoilt island that is Bequia. Just travelling by open back taxi is such fun, our daughter now expects this form of transport at home! Port Elizabeth is quaint and picturesque and has lots of small bars and restaurants to explore but the hotel varies it's menu enough to not get bored, food was great. How can you beat sitting on beach eating your breakfast staring at Mustique? Favourites included walks on the beach, its public but feels like a secret beach, rum punch on arrival and dancing in the sand! Shout out to Rima for helping us organise so much, jenson & garvin from gideon and everyone at the hotel with a smile on their faces. This is truly a special hotel, with unique idiosyncrasies that set it apart for a rich experience come here. Can't wait to come back

For background this was my fifth trip in the past 12 months to celebrate my 50th and the first trip that I can’t rave about. There are many positives, several areas of improvement and things to know to make your trip better. Prior to landing in Bequia make sure to arrange a cab to the hotel. Cabs are not sitting there. Book it with quest services. We hitched a ride with an island resident. Hands down Gideon is the best cab company on the island. Timely, clean and he is such a nice man. His colleague Jenson gives a great tour of the island. Highly recommend asking the hotel to book him. Bring cash. Cash is king on the island. Not $200 but more like $750 to $1k. It goes fast as things do not operate like other islands (which I will get to later). The hotel property is lovely and well maintained. We arrived after a tropical storm/2 hr hurricane and it looked good. The hotel room we stayed in was great. Two twins facing the water, 1 twin in a separate room. Great for friends on a trip. The room had nice Tommy Bahama furniture and it was spotless. Housekeeping does a great job cleaning but it comes with a HUGE price. On our last morning we finally figured out why……. For some color when you arrive the hotel staff shows you the supply of bug spray in your room and we had bug netting over our beds (head scratch). Well the island is tropical and has tons of mosquitoes but what makes it really bad in the room is we watched housekeeping cleaning the room next to us and they opened the sliding glass doors and screens and she kept them open as she moved out furniture and rugs to clean. The mosquitoes enter the room. My friend woke up after our first night with welts all over her legs. I did not because I wore pants to bed and my sheet stayed on. When we did not let house keeping in to clean we were able to kill the bugs. We also slept the other nights under the net. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the NET!!! Because we put do not disturb on the door we did not get the daily water bottle in our refrigerator. On our third day we called for one bottle to take on the boat on day 4. At first we were told to go to the bar. Then they called back and said no because housekeeping the day before gave us our Tuesday bottle. Hello it was Wednesday and were asking to take it on the boat on Thursday. In addition, we were on the all inclusive. In the end they brought a bottle to our room. Penny wise pounds foolish. We were on the all inclusive plan. We highly recommend doing it for at least two meals a day. The food at the hotel is very good. Limited menu but very good. Ezra is amazing and makes a great real iced coffee! Not the Nescafé. Ezra also makes a wonderful banana margarita. The ocean water at the hotel is quite rough. Definitely take the 10:30am shuttle to Princess Margaret Beach where Jack’s is. Such a nice beach. Jack’s has great music, nice lounge chairs and clean bathrooms. Lunch there is fun. The walking path you will read about is not so friendly if you have bad knees or are less stable on your feet. A lot of steps up and then a rough terrain down. Also a boulder fell on the path and has not been removed yet. People either had to climb over it or climb down onto rocks to get around. Macs for Pizza was great. Drinks were really good. We were told the good bartender was on that night. I believe I lost my baseball cap there and I asked the hotel front desk to call. I never heard from the front desk what they had learned. Bad service. On each of my trips I use a formula - some beach time, good food, a tour around the island and then a boat ride. Well the Friendship Rose does not go in August. We were told by a local there is not enough demand. Well I knew of 9 people at the hotel who wanted to go to the Cays. 7 of us passed when we heard it was $4,500 for the hotel’s yacht for the day plus $150 per person for food. We also all separately passed on the $1,000 for the day on a power boat. But in the end one couple rented the power boat and invited the other 7 of us to join them. Each of us were charged by the captain directly $US200 in cash. We all thought that included lunch and taxi as every other island we have gone to that is the NORM! Well it did not. The Captain wanted us to pay 120 EC cash per person for lunch at Big Mammas, we had to paid 60EC cash for the cab and then the captain also wanted us to pay for the entry fee into the Cays. He ultimately paid that. Big Mammas is a must. Her food was sooooo good! The actual boat ride was a nightmare. First the waves/swells were huge. The boat pounded and pounded on the waves. I have a bad back and it was a horrible ride for me. The family on the tour said the ride was worse than their boat ride in Thailand during a hurricane. When we got to the cays it was lovely. Our ride home was once again a nightmare but it got worse as the engines had issues and the boat ran out of gas. In the middle of the ocean the boat had to be filled up with gas (extra stash stored in the small cabin area?). The captain and first mate could not do it themselves. One of the guests had to help the captain fill the tank. What I did not mention is we had stopped in Canouan 20 minutes or so before this to have a drink and the captain did not think to refill the gas then? I do not recommend taking any power boat to the cays. The hotel should scrap the yacht and buy a catamaran. Or the friendship rose should run two days a week (one weekend/one weekday) so the nine of us could go out. BTW I could have rounded up more people to go. I suggest the hotel reach out to Palm Island and the Yannis team. They know what they are doing. I took their trip in May 2022 and had the most memorable (positive) day. I don’t think your guests want to be in the middle of the sea wondering to themselves if the engines don’t start who will come save us. Sadly that is how my trip to Bequia ended.

Responded Aug 10, 2022
Dear Jennifer P, Thank you for your feedback and review and for choosing Bequia Beach Hotel for your celebrations. Our reservations team always liaise with guests to ensure their transfer to the hotel is booked. Thank you for your kind words in regards to the property, the recent surprise winds did cause some temporary damage which our team worked hard to rectify immediately and minimise any guest inconvenience. As you mention Bequia is tropical, there can be mosquitoes seasonally however the property employs a multitude of methods to minimise the impact including fogging, especially during the months where there is more rain. Our housekeeping team always air out rooms after check out as part of their hygiene policy standards to ensure it is fresh, clean and sanitised for future guests. We apologise that your daily replenishment of bottled water was not satisfied, this should have been delivered and made available to you regardless. We are sorry to hear your speedboat trip to Tobago Cays was not what you had hoped, the team will follow up with that operator and ask for an explanation of the trip. We note your thoughts about the Hotel’s yacht Star of the Sea, however it is a superyacht with the level of service standards and experience, with 6-7 crew members including professional chef, 6 en-suite cabins onboard and watertoys, we do offer day trips for hotel guests when there is demand and have fantastic feedback from those trips and longer charters or special occasions. It is an experience incomparable to day-boat tours or catamarans but for most, a holiday of a lifetime based on guestbook feedback. Once more we find it unfortunate that your experience, stay and feedback appears to have been mostly affected by your negative experience with a speedboat operator, our team will follow up to ensure their standards are improved for future and we take your feedback about the property seriously and will look into the areas concerned and investigate improvements. Sunny greetings, Rima, Guest Services

We had our wedding at the Bequia Beach Hotel July 2022 and the staff and setting were fantastic! They put on a Karaoke night for us and our guests on our first day of arrival, made everyone feel welcome and helped organise excursions, and opportunities for us to experience so many different activities that Bequia has to offer. We would like to thank Isola, who helped to plan our wedding and managed to make quick and professional adjustments when it started to rain. She helped make us feel confident that all would be ok and put us in touch with hair, makeup and a pastor that made the even memorable. She listened to all our ideas and helped to make them all happen. Thank you Isola! We would also like to thank Jude Williams, butler extraordinaire! He made sure all the guests were safe at all times, had their needs met, organised a tour of Bequia, a night on the Island, Water activities and a trip to a floating bar, trips to restaurants and helped us with all the little things. He was attentive and fun and has a very caring nature. Everyone loves Jude! The wedding party stayed at the Palm Villa, which is a gorgeous villa with a private pool, which we made much use of! everything was clean, well fashioned and met all of our needs. My family and I are already planning our next trip back to Bequia Beach Hotel, and we can't wait to spend anniversaries there and to show all of our future family.

A beautiful hotel on lovely grounds with gorgeous beach with small/medium waves. Water sports equipment available - snorkeling and ocean kayaking… Staff was lovely, room super comfortable and tons of storage and closet space. Tea and water in the rooms. Great restaurant on site and delicious breakfast included and they had local foods, which is super important to me. Staff very helpful with procuring taxi and also there is a shuttle service to Princess Margaret Beach. Loved the animals that wandered in and out of property that we befriended. Place felt very homey. The 2 pools were well maintained and loved having fresh and salt water options. I’ll be back for sure.

We visited Bequia Beach Resort for a 3-night stay, booked a cottage. The pickup and checkin process was great- friendly driver met us at the ferry dock & cold drinks and hand towels were waiting for us as soon as we reached the reception area (which was beautiful & looked like something out of a movie). Beach borders the property, very nice pool. Our favorite part was the restaurant Bagatelle (the other restaurant was closed) - delicious hot cooked complimentary breakfast & the a la carte dinner menu changed nightly so we tried something new every evening, we were truly wowed each time. Try the mains and the desserts. The chefs at Bagatelle are top tier. We arranged a special dinner while we were there & it was AMAZING. All of the resort staff were extremely kind and warm. The mosquitoes are aggressive. Bring your own repellent if you use the non-DEET version, otherwise they have spray with DEET available in the room. We tried some spa services, one of us enjoyed the services more than the other. We didn’t try the gym but it had some nice standard equipment. They also offer babysitting services for families traveling with children. We will definitely be back in the future. Thank you!

Our family of five (three teenagers) had an incredible experience at The Bequia Beach Hotel!! We were greeted upon arrival with fresh welcome drinks and a warm reception. We stayed in two adjoining beachfront suites (one had a King and the second room had a Queen and Twin in a separate room). The rooms are beautiful and the views are spectacular!! We enjoyed snacks/drinks at the beach/pool bar and dinner and breakfast at the Bagatelle restaurant. The staff is warm, helpful and attentive. Our room had everything we needed - inlcuding outlet converters, bugspray, bathrobes, ice, wine opener and more. We booked the all inclusive meal and drink plan - it was well worth the cost and included dinner at Jack's Beach Bar - which we highly reccommend as well. We visited the spa for massages and used the fitness center - it is perfectly equipped. We enjoyed relaxing and napping by the infinity pool. We also took a day boat trip to Tabago Cays for snorkleling and lunch with Michael's Tours - this is a must do! We rented our snorkel gear from Dive Bequia. We had a fabulous vacation and had a hard time leaving.

My husband and I take vacations with a group of couples every few years. We have visited many Caribbean islands, but never have been to Bequia. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BBH, mostly in part due to the fabulous staff that became friends by the end of our trip. Food and drinks were fabulous. Although we visited during off-season so the only restaurant open was Bagatelles, they changed the menu around for dinners, so it never felt boring. Jack's on Princess Margaret was a treat and we enjoyed several days of drinks and lunch hanging out there as well. We all stayed in the beach front suites which had wonderful ocean views. The seas were rough and so unfortunately we never truly enjoyed the beach at the hotel, but with an easy ride over to Princess Margaret it wasn't a big deal. From the moment we arrived until the day we departed, the staff truly went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this little gem. Hoping we will be back again!
