I stayed at the Dunmore for 10 nights last easter and loved every minute of my stay. During the Covid-19 ordeal I've been reminiscing back to this jewel on Harbour island. The beach really is pink, the sky is vast and blue, the water inviting, the food amazing, it feels very, very safe and you're a world away from all your troubles and stress. I found all staff to be very nice and my cottage to be cute and clean. The bathroom could've been bigger, but for one person it was okay. The bed was very comfortable. Next visit I'll choose a bit bigger, newer cottage and probably stay for 2 weeks. (The diving there is excellent too.) Everything is rather pricey on Harbour island and the Dunmore meals (breakfast as well) are no exception. The quality and selection of the food though is very good for a small boutique hotel and I had several chats with their chef who was very much on top of things. I stayed in most nights and didn't want to miss yet another excellent meal there. I miss the breakfasts with a view, miss the beach where I could stay together and will just have to return as soon as I can. If you are in doubt about the Dunmore, don't be - you'll be very well taken care of and feel like a part of their family your first day there.

The Dunmore is a throwback to a another moment in time. The property and its attentive and gracious staff are so comfortable, I feel like its my home when I'm there. I get lazier and lazier each trip which is a testament to how relaxing the hotel is. The Dunmore and its staff and owners all take pride in the property's very quiet, casual elegance.

I have a wanderlust and rarely make return trips anywhere aside for required business or some particularly sentimental locales. But, the Dunmore is different... I can't wait to return. It's always as fresh, if not more, than the last visit. Each visit i find something new and updated nut still understated.

This was my 7th visit to the Island - and I hate to share too much about any of it - the island, the locals, the Dunmore, because i don't want crowds to spoil my sanctuary. The property is tiny and I always meet dear new friends teach trip. The island is laid back and rustic and welcoming to all. In all my travels I've never been anywhere that exudes genuine hospitality like this tiny island.

The Dunmore and Briland aren't for every traveler...there is a strong sense of decorum. The staff hosts ladies and gentlemen. The dining room in the evening has a dress code which is not overbearing. And after this year, I really look forward to throwing aside my lounge wear and sliding on on a dress and some jewelry.

Speaking of shiny things ...the Dunmore is the Jewel of not only Harbour Island but also the entire Bahamas. It's my secret, though, so don't share too much; I don't want to spoil my escape.

Our first stay at The Dunmore February 2021.
Arrival is easy but we paid extra for a Dunmore meet/greet transfer from North Eleuthera airport to a private boat to Harbour Island dock and to hotel. It’s worth it if you don’t want to think about any details but the Dunmore has to charge a lot for their time.
Check in is easy but be patient as the desk can get busy. Room was nice just above the pool with a ocean view. We enjoyed the sitting area set up just as you walk in the most.
Breakfast in the room is ok.
Lunch menu at the Dunmore is ok.
Dinner menu at the Dunmore is nothing great.
Even during Covid it proved difficult to get a proper table outside at the restaurant so it must be nearly impossible during busy times.
The Dunmore staff is very hardworking and doesn’t have time for you to negotiate seating as they are busy hustling to make sure they meet the high demands of their repeat guests. Repeat guest rule here.
Don’t go to The Dunmore for a pool visit or any gym experience as they are 3 star at best.
The beach & warm water are the gem
as other reviewers mentioned.
We rented a golf cart and enjoyed off property restaurants and exploring the area.
If you need a 3-5 day break the Dunmore delivers. Otherwise rent a villa and make sure they have top notch services.

Thank you for taking time to review The Dunmore Hotel and Residences. We understand the outside seating aspect during COVID that you experienced could be better, which we know has been a challenge for us and other hotels to maintain social distancing during this pandemic. Thank you for the feedback on our old gym area. We are in the final stages of completion with our new fitness center that is located directly across from our tennis and our (2) pickleball courts. The new fitness center will be finished next month, April 2021. We strive to provide the best quality for each and every one of our guest so hopefully we will be able to see you again in the near future!

We booked a vacation for our 20 year wedding anniversary. We booked in late June when Bahamas announced they were opening July 1st because of COVID. Once Bahamas opened, they came out with a list of regulations for COVID on July 4th. We immediately called to cancel our reservation and not only will they not give us a refund (they are giving credit to be used at a future date) they took the 2nd half of our deposit in our credit card because we canceled. They should be much more flexible at a time like this. Now today, July 20th Bahamas has shut down again so even if we wanted to go next week it wouldn’t be possible. We have once again asked for a refund but they do not respond. It is way too much money of ours for them to keep until the country is completely open and back to normal. Who knows when that will be?? Who knows what resorts will still be in business at that point?? Very poor business decision by then not to issue refunds. We will be fighting it and if we don’t get our money back we will be visiting them in the next year or two unhappily.

Thank you for taking the time to review The Dunmore Hotel and Residences. We try to do our best to work with all of our guest each and every day, especially during these uncertain times. We did not have a nationwide face mask order at that time of your booking. When the order came from the Prime Minister that face masks had to be worn upon opening the country on July 1, 2020, we reached out to all of our guest to inform on this change. We offered to move reservations to a later date if anyone opted out of wearing a face mask. Several of our guest relayed to us that they have hopes of travelling next season with a possibility that masks may not be mandated. You emailed and asked us to cancel your reservation and save your deposit for a future stay, and we did as you requested. We are sorry this experience did not go the way you would have liked. We still would like to work with you on this matter if you want to give us a call.

If you like trendy places with a big scene, not the place for you. If you value very low key, understated, friendly, and beautiful location then you won't be disappointed. So few places remain like Harbour Island and the Dunmore.

The Dunmore has it all: a perfect beach right out front, nicely appointed cottages, a serene pool, a reliably good restaurant and an incredibly warm, accommodating, efficient staff. It's also a short walk to the friendly and somewhat ramshackle town. While the hotel offers kayaks and a few other activities, this really is a place to get away and rest. Note that service charges are added to all restaurant and bar tabs; while you are able to add on more, it's not expected.

We have had several incredible experiences at the Dunmore residences. The setting is out of this world, beach access and views are breathtaking. The staff puts the place really over the top - thank you in particular to Sean who provided an incredible soup to nuts experience for our entire family, especially our kids! We can't wait to return.

My husband and I came for a couples trip in august. We were very excited for this trip and had been planning it for about a year. Unfortunately our experience fell short. We felt as if we were inconveniencing the staff at the hotel constantly. We arrived at 2:00 and were told we couldn’t checkin until 3:00. We decided to explore the island a bit. We got back at 2:45 and we’re told our room was still not ready. We decided to have lunch while we waited but they told us lunch was over and we could order from the bar. When we went to the bar they told us we couldn’t order anything. We finally arrived at our room at 3:25. We had picked an “ocean view” room. The room was nice but there was no view of the ocean. The lunches we had at the hotel were good but overall the customer service was very poor for being so highly priced. I would not go back. The beaches are beautiful but the cost of everything for poor service is not worth it. We really wanted to love our time here but I would not recommend. There are far better places to visit with just as beautiful beaches plus amazing customer service and food.

Thank you for taking time to review The Dunmore Hotel. Our staff continuously strives to be the best on the island by greeting, servicing and taking care of all of our guests needs, so it comes as a surprise that you felt you were inconveniencing us. We try to get our guest in their accommodations as early as possible, however yes, check-in time is 3pm and last seating for lunch is 2:30pm (2pm on Tuesday's). Thereafter, we offer a bar menu with small bites until dinner begins at 5:30pm. The room category we have in our inventory for Ocean View provides a view of the ocean. We would certainly like to know the room you stayed in to review where we can make changes. Receiving poor service is not how we operate and we apologize for that. We would have loved the opportunity to have these issues brought forward to management while you were staying with us so we could immediately take action and make the necessary corrections. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss more on your visit to our hotel.

In the pink

This is a GREAT find: the setting and people couldn’t be nicer, the atmoshere couldn’t be more relaxed and the food is marvellous. Plus you get one of the nicest beaches with its pink sands anywhere and a small boutique hotel oozing charm. With chickens and roosters running around you really feel in another world and to the lovely staff nothing is ever too much to make you feel at home and actually belonging. An all around class act and at joy.

Is the hotel suitable for active kids 3 to 5 yrs old?

My kids are 8 and 5 and they LOVED it. They made lots of friends on the beach/ around the pool (it’s not a huge property so easy to make friends even though there’s no organised kids’ club) and they spent most of their time body boarding in the sea! You can borrow boards from the hotel. My son doesn’t keep still and isn’t the kind of boy who would sit down and read books all day and he says it was his favourite ever holiday.
