My wife and I had the great pleasure of spending 10 days at the Reefview apartments in beautiful Antigua in March just before the world shut down for Covid-19. The accommodations were wonderful. We had everything we could possibly need. The beach was just a stones throw away with great DIY fly fishing opportunities. Karol is an amazing host! My wife and Karol spent quite a bit of time together while I was fishing with her husband Nick, the resident fishing guide. Ginger and Karol became good friends as they visited many places on the island. If you are going to Antigua do yourself a favor and book your stay at the Reefview Apartments! You won't be disappointed! By the way, husband Nick is an amazing fishing guide as well.
We had a wonderful 14 day stay in the Penthouse apartment at Reefview Apts. Apartment had everything we needed for our stay, cold fridge, comfy bed, extremely clean and comfortable overall. Great hosts,Karoll and Nick were extremely accommodating and friendly,we felt right at home, you couldn't ask for more knowledgeable host's. The location is centrally located with plenty of local charm and vendors nearby,Karoll will fill you in on all the nearby vendors restaurants and beaches.I was also fortunate to pre-book and fish with Nick, the islands premier inshore fishing guide, landed my first Snook and Tarpon...amazing.If you have any questions or concerns you should reach out to Karoll as I did. Karoll was able to book a rental car for us in advance and have it delivered to the apt. We felt very relaxed and comfortable during our stay.If your looking for a real taste of the island life with local charm and hospitality, don't hesitate to give them a try.…
I'm writing this review missing Antigua so much! We had a fab time at the Reefview Apartments and I feel like I found a real kindred spirit in Karoll the owner. Such good fun and super knowledgeable as an ex-pat who has been in Antigua for over 30 years. We really like snorkelling and there's a beach just two minutes away on foot with a great reef so it was ideal for us. Also close to the Jolly Harbour area and the various beaches and bars along the road on the way there such as the great Rum Bus Beach Bar (created from old London buses). Karoll was able to give us lots of local tips, and we highly recommend the local restaurant/bar Chappies for a real taste of authentic Antiguan life and GREAT food. The apartment had everything we needed and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
When we began to plan a trip to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we wanted to find a place that would be memorable and personal. We especially wanted to see more of Antigua than a resort would offer...we wanted to explore and enjoy the simple pleasures of the island. We found the perfect place! From the moment we met Karoll (she picked us up at the airport and took us grocery shopping), we knew we were in for a treat. Her knowledge of the island is extraordinary and every recommendation she gave us resulted in a wonderful experience. From Sunday night at Shirley Heights to the Creole Cruise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment had everything we needed for rest and relaxation and provided a good location for driving our rental car all around the island to see the sights. Karoll's personal touches make it feel like home and her friendly presence made it difficult to leave. We will never forget our trip to Antigua!…
As a family of 4 we travelled to Antigua for a wedding. Our Reefview apartment was perfect for us, enough space, lovely and clean with a fully equipped kitchen. The outside space perfect for morning coffee. Our host was attentive, informative, helpful and welcoming and with the beautiful rescued pet dogs/cats/parrot we felt right at home. Lovely location near to a beautiful beach, with lots of other beaches and bars easily accessed by a short drive. Loved our stay in magical Antigua.
We stayed in the Penthouse Suite in March 2019 and loved it. We were collected from the Airport by Karoll which was welcome after the flight from the UK and she gave us guide of the local area on the way. Karoll pointed out the local bakery, shops and and eating spots in the local village all of which we tried. The apartment was just perfect, extremely clean and very well equipped. Things we were not expecting but were provided were beach towels, hairdryer, cool boxes, sun chars and the fully equipped kitchen. Everything you could possibly want or need in the kitchen and if there was something possibly missing Karroll would have lent it to you. The area was perfect for us and close (by car or bus) to all the best beaches in Antigua (in our opinion!) The Bakers (Tudor and her brother Jefferson) with fresh bread, cakes, meatballs and more snacks was great and worth the walk each day. Golddeens for her fried chicken, johnny cakes and lovely smile is a must for Friday and Saturdays and Chappys restaurant and bar perfect and very close for dinner (fresh fish a specialty) all close enough to the apartment to walk to and plenty more in the surrounding areas. We had an amazing stay and would recommend to all. Karoll and her family made us feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will be returning1…
This is a little piece of paradise on an island paradise. Karoll has created a tropical retreat in a location that is close to everything but off the beaten path. The loft apartment is a unique little gem that provides everything you need in a special style but doesn't overdo it. The kitchen is small but provides all the basics. I was concerned about the lack of AC but quickly realized that the ocean breeze was a much better source of cooling than a noisy AC unit. It is located just off the main road so you have easy access to public bus service but no traffic noise. I went for a week without a car rental. Some of the best beaches on the island are 5 minutes by bus. Karoll is a gracious and knowledgeable host who is generous with her help but never intrusive. For an independent traveler who wants to avoid the resort scene and integrate with the local community this is a great place. My thanks go to Karoll and Nick.…
My wife and I just returned from Antigua/Barbuda. We stayed in the Beach Loft Cottage at Reefview Apartments which worked out wonderfully for us. We had our own separate space, could cook meals in a very thoroughly stocked kitchen, had bedroom and couch upstairs, living room downstairs. And best of all, an outdoor shower which we loved. We could also walk (10 minutes) to a very good, local restaurant. Karoll, our host, could not have been more helpful. She picked us up at the airport which was so appreciated after a long day of travel. Through a very thorough orientation, she quickly got a good sense of what we would like see and do and helped us make it happen with ease. We rented a car for three days. Karoll arranged for the car to be brought to our cottage and picked up there, too. It is a very short walk to the beach which is not especially swimmable, but my wife walked to it each morning for yoga and birdwatching. In the evening, we watched beautiful sunsets, often with heron, egrets, and occasional local walkers sharing the space with us. Cades Bay is not far from very good beaches, accessible by bus (very easy) or by car rental. Turner's Beach, our favorite for swimming, was a 5 minute bus ride. St. John's (40 minutes) and Jolly Harbor (20 minutes) are very easy to reach by local bus. English Harbor, St. John's, Jolly Harbor, and Half Moon Bay are under an hour by car. We appreciated being away from big resorts and tourist areas and close to a local fishing village. We cannot overemphasize the hospitality and warmth that Karoll extended us which really made for a lovely vacation. We would return in a heartbeat!…
If you don't mind doing your own dishes you can save thousands of dollars over staying at a resort and have the time of your life staying here. We stayed in the "Love Shack." We loved all the host's recommendations and everyone we met. She stocked our fridge with good food for breakfasts and a bottle of celebratory wine. Such sweet memories of Antigua and this air Bnb was a big part of making it easy and lovely.
We live in a small village on a small Greek island and are in the tourist industry ourselves. If your idea of a 5 star holiday is lying on a sunbed round a pool at an all-inclusive "resort" with your day mapped out for you by an animation team...then stop reading here. If not, please read on! Reefview Apartments offered us the perfect location to experience living like a local in this little island paradise. Super-friendly hosts Karroll and Nick live at the property, are passionate about the island and are always happy to share their enormous wealth of local knowledge to help you get the very best out of your stay on Antigua. The three of us (we had our 27 year old son with us) stayed in the Seaview Garden Apartment and it soon became our home-from-home. All the village amenities are within easy walking distance, and some of the island's very best beaches are no more than a 5-10 minute bus ride away. Buying fresh fish straight off the boats as they came in at the local harbour, taking them home to barbeque them in our garden whilst sipping on a cold rum....that's our idea of a 5 star holiday! Chappy's (the taverna/meeting place down at the harbour) quickly became our local. It's frequented almost exclusively by locals, offering a small but very fresh menu daily, depending on the catch and the day! Chappy cooks "specials" according to the day of the week..Tuesday is curried goat day, Wednesday is sea-cat day (that's octopus by the way!) and so on. You need to order from the morning if you want a special though...he sells out quick! There's a DJ every Friday and Saturday (great reggae all night, and the dancing starts after midnight), but the other nights of the week it's just the T.V.! Our son loved strolling the short distance to Henrietta's Bakery each morning to buy her pumpkin fritters for breakfast, and a selection of her other home-made savouries (little meatballs, fried chicken, patties, little fish called "Bangin' Mary's"...really!) plus "empty bread" (this is what you need to ask for if you just want a loaf!) for our picnic lunch later. Got to get there early if you want the meatballs though...the local schoolchildren love them, and buy them on the way to classes every morning! The village has a couple of convenience stores, but for a serious shop you need to get to the big Epicurean Supermarket in nearby Jolly Harbour, about a 10 minute bus ride away. The bus service in Antigua is brilliant and Reefview Apartments are perfectly located for exploring with them. Just flag them down at the top of the lane, say goodmorning when you get on, and tell the driver where you want to get off! There's plenty of them, they're frequent (not on Sunday's though!) and also very cheap. The minimum fare, which will take you to any of the surrounding beaches and as far as Jolly Harbour (March 2018) is $2.5 EC..about 70 pence! A ride in to the capital of St. John's ...a must, especially on Saturdays when they have a huge, colourful street market, will set you back all of $3.25EC...about 90 pence for the 20-odd minute journey. We had every intention of hiring a car when we arrived for our month, but found the reggae-buses such good fun and great opportunity to mix with the locals, they became part of our holiday too and we never did hire that car! One last absolute "Must Do" while you're here..... Shirley Heights on a Sunday for the famous Sunday sunset jump-up. Steel pan bands, views down over English Harbour as the sun sets that will literally take your breath away, great street-style food from a huge communal barbeque, and great rum punches too! When we got back to Greece in April, we hit the ground running for our own season, so it's taken me until now to find the time to write this. It's a testament to the wonderful vibes we caught at Reefview Apartments that it's all still so fresh and vibrant I can recall it like it was yesterday! Big love to you all in Urlings, Diana, Lakis and Alexi XXX …
