We had four days there in April. Glorious weather helped but hotel would have been comfortable if it rained. Had read reviews complaining of steps; this is a rocky isle in Atlantic, not the Fens. Others complained that room was small. Ours was huge, with windows on two sides. Food and service couldn't be faulted, even for veggie partner. And...

This is a really lovely hotel with beautiful rooms complemented by staff that were hard working, conscientious & friendly. Based close to the ferry port & the town centre. The food was delicious & the serving staff friendly & helpful.

My school reports always said I could do better and the management at Tregarthen's could do the same, excluding Giles, the restaurant manager who seems to hold the place together (on his day off the service was chaotic). I waited 30 minutes for porridge at breakfast the first morning, so opted for bacon the next morning which came quicker, but...

Thank you for your feedback and rest assured that your comments are taken seriously. Your positive comments regarding Giles have been passed on and are much appreciated. In honesty we have had more difficulty than usual this season in establishing the service team and there have been some issues to iron out - but it has been treated as a...

Having booked an evening meal in advance on Good Friday after a long journey we arrived to be told there was no meal available for us! Not a great welcome to the Scillies and not easy trailing around to acquire a much needed meal on a bank holiday

Dear Christine. Thank you for your comments, although it leaves us a little baffled. We were full over that weekend, but always have space for hotel residents to dine - but it does not look like your were a hotel resident. When it is very busy we do sometimes have to turn away non-resident diners at peak times of the...

Positives first. Bedroom compact but fine (although carpet a bit grubby) with very nice view across the main beach. Good atmosphere and, in general, cheerful staff who were clearly trying hard to please (particularly Giles) despite obviously being short-handed at times. Disappointed with breakfast however - cheap ingredients, not very well cooked portions, insufficient supplies to the rather minimalist cold...

Thanks for your feedback. It was the busiest weekend of the season but as you say, that is no reason for things to have slipped, which in this case it looks like it did a little. We will look into the particular issues and ensure that the team are more attentive and more professional in their service delivery.

My wife and I were very unhappy with certain aspects of our stay at Tregarthen's. We had no issue with the staff that served us in the reception, bar and restaurant. They were courteous, helpful and very friendly. Our issue is with the administration of our room. The timetable of issues is as follows: We arrived on the Saturday and,...

Thank you for your feedback and the positive comments regarding the team will be passed on. It does seem a few minor things went wrong during your stay for which we apologise, and hope this did not spoil your holiday on the Isles of Scilly. Tregarthens Hotel has undoubtedly some of the finest views on St Mary's. Our room looked out over the water towards the harbour and Bryher/Tresco. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, albeit some of the younger restaurant staff seemed rather inexperienced and forgetful when dealing with busy mealtimes. (This was the gig championships weekend after all and the hotel was...

Thank you for your feedback. Gig Weekend is the busiest weekend of the year on Scilly, and coming early in the season it is good to hear that, on the whole, things stood up very well. Many areas of the hotel have been refurbished over the last 2 winters, including the bar, restaurant and lounge areas. Some bedrooms were also...

Wonderful holiday at this lovely hotel. Pleasant bedroom. Wonderful restaurant with excellent imaginative menu, overlooking the harbour. The staff were very pleasant & couldn't have been more helpful. Can't wait to return next year.

Have just returned from a very enjoyable six night stay at this lovely hotel.it has a wonderful position overlooking the harbour which is also very convenient as boats depart from there every morning to enable visits to the other islands. The bedroom we had was very spacious and comfortable with nice views over the bay. Similarly both the bar/lounge area...

The location is excellent as are the views from the balcony! The rooms are clean and quite well equipped, although rather small. Thus far, so good. But, and it is a good but; the breakfast is shambles. Nothing to do with a stressed-out, friendly waiters and waitresses, but the management. Most of the mornings there was just one half-working toaster...

Thank you for your feedback. It looks as though we have shown a few "start of season niggles" which we believe are now all sorted out.
