My hubby and I spent 6 night's at Wolfen Mill with our little cockapoo. It was our first visit to the Mill and the area. We stayed in the Saddlery a ground floor apartment. We found our accommodation very comfortable, well furnished and equipped with everything we needed.

We saw a nice looking cafe at the junction by the church as you drive into Chipping , and there is a pub (or two I think) in the village and there is a shop in a really ancient historic old house also in the village where you can buy hot snacks , newspapers , local produce and so on . But if you are looking for 'the bright lights' you would need to go further I'm afraid . The area , known as The Forest Of Bowland , is superb - open moors , green valleys , rippling streams , quaint villages - a tonic for the soul . We are a retired couple I hasten to add , and regarded our visit as an escape from London .... it really was ! And Wolfen Mill Cottages provide most excellent self catering amenities , and the property is wonderfully located , probably a twenty minute brisk walk to Chipping village , or a five minute drive . A very useful guide is provided , listing places of interest , and inns etc .

"Cottages better than hotels rooms"
"Chat to the owner before booking if you're unsure which room you'd like."
"The cottage was a separate building to the other rooms."
"No mobile phone coverage here but there is a land line in the cottage. Also wi-fi, though free, is intermittent."
"Tweedy Cottage gives quick access to the courtyard and garden, however, expect some noise from above as this is a downstairs room."
