My husband and I booked a package deal on Spa Seekers for afternoon tea and a hot stone massage for £35 each and what a lovely day we had. Such good value for money I would expect to pay that just for a treatment. The afternoon tea was delicious it included scones with jam and cream and a selection a sandwiches and cakes. It was served in a large room which we had to ourselves with a view of the gardens. Before our treatments we went for a swim - the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were closed due to Covid but we didn’t need to book a swimming slot and again we had the pool to ourselves. Everything was very clean. Our treatments were amazing and the therapist was very polite and professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return again!

Just got back from this lovely hotel as me & my friends went to celebrate my 40th! The staff are so nice & friendly in the hotel & Spa would definitely go back again :) we had the £59 pamper package at the spa & was able to use the pool, sauna etc whilst giving us lovely robes & towels & providing us with a nice light lunch. The rooms are big & spacious & clean. Thank you to the hotel staff who dealt with our problem quickly & effectively with one person unable to attend they are all conscience & really helpful :)

We had a lovely couple of nights staying in a comfortable double room, good breakfast, friendly staff and nice pool. Room was hot but this was expected during current heatwave. Nice to be able to cool down in pool

Had a lovely stay this week in Chester at the hotel. Came for the location and found this place to be just what we needed. After all that has been going on we needed a break. The hotel is lovely. Clean, nice food and big pool. All the covid measure and restrictions as you can imagine, but no biggie. Thats to be expected. We read lots of review sites and take everything with a pinch of salt. For the money we paid this as great! Will be back on our next family trip. Cheers

We had booked a twin room with garden view. We were given a twin split level room, down 4 uneven steps between levels. The room overlooked the car park. There were only 2 coat hangers, no beakers in the bathroom and several large cobwebs. On request these matters were resolved. When we asked to be moved to a better room with the garden view that we had booked, we were told they were fully booked that night, but they would move us tomorrow. We agreed to this and the new accommodation was better but the view was a flat roof above the dining room and should not be described as 'the garden'. The hotel seemed very short staffed but those who were available were very pleasant and helpful. The dinner menu was limited and the same every evening, but the food was good. There was no breakfast menu and only a very limited choice of cereal eventually offered on the second day. The basic full English breakfast was well cooked but very average. Hot drink making facilities in the room were very limited. I asked for directions to the swimming pool, but due to Covid restrictions, customers had to book a time slot days hense, but there was no prior notice of this. If I had known when we arrived I may have been able to enjoy a dip, which was one of the reasons for booking this hotel. The Hotel is in a very good location, a short distance from Chester and good for trips to the Wirral and North Wales. The hotel has excellent potential but is lacking in so many basic hospitality expectations.

Dear Birchbankgarden We appreciate the feedback you have left for us following your recent visit to the hotel and sincerely apologise that the specific room type booked was not available on the first night. Thank you for you patience whilst the housekeeping staff replaced the items in your room. It is always useful to know this, so that the housekeeping supervisor can remind her team and ensure consistency for future guests. We thank you for your understanding on this occasion. All websites do explain that some of the facilities may be limited. Due to the covid restrictions in place at the moment the pool has limited capacity which is essential to maintain social distancing. The lanes must be pre booked and we are sorry if this information was not passed on to you prior to arrival . It is usually in the confirmation of stay. Kind regards Denise Ummat Director
