Comfortable room but extra hard bed which surprisingly allowed an excellent night’s sleep. Bathroom very dark and basic. Food good and service with a smile. Nice location. No Wi-fi in rooms and fairly useless in the reception and dining areas
This is a review of the restaurant at this hotel and not of the hotel itself.I dined here on several occasions last September -2019-on a recent visit to Taungoo. The food is excellent...beautifully presented and served by friendly, diligent staff...Service is prompt...and the staff are always on hand to book a taxi or tuk tuk...Definitely worth a return visit...i am happy to give it 10 out of 10.
I am frequent traveler and staying in this hotel since 2009-10. Rooms are clean and big. Property has well maintained greenery and pool area. In gym many machines are rusted seems no one used these for years. Breakfast has limited options for vegetarian. Internet is only available to your room when you request for it, technician will come and install router to your room. .
We were on our way to Inle from Yangon and we stayed here one night. It is off the beaten track so a little different local experience. Their are plenty of mosquitoes here but the room was sprayed and nets were provided. Staff were friendly. They helped me with Shan noodles for breakfast and was the best I had all trip. Beautiful sunrise. A little expensive for Myanmar standards but less expensive than the tourist hotels in the main destinations.
I've been going to this place for years and I was very surprised and disappointed to discover that foreigners now have to pay double price for an average massage (see attached picture): $20 (=30,000 kyats) instead of 15,000 for locals! I understand that there are not as many tourists as expected in Myanmar at the moment, but is it a reason to introduce such discriminatory practices?
Poor massage, begginer services, also they show you one price and charge double because you are a foreigner. Don't accept pay by card and use exchange rates with a huge benefit for them. Don't recomand.
Room quality : good Service quality : good Location: fair Paranormal activity : some encounters This hotel is located inside the old palace compound of Taungoo Kingdom. Large area with square shaped moat and a large lake in front of the hotel are signatures of this hotel. Very quiet and isolated at night with very little guests. Generally is a good hotel with large rooms. But this can be a down side for some people who afraid of ghosts. Some local legends say that executions and killings are carried out in this same ground (maybe or maybe not) but you decide. At night there will be no sound that you can even hear your own heart beats. I have been traveling extensively and stayed in many hotels but this one is really something. Bravery level 99 required if you are sleeping alone in a large room, be warned that you can encounter paranormal activity. The rooms are big and cozy. Towels are a bit worn out and the bathroom is quite dark. The hot and cold water is fine and toilets are in good condition. The beds are stiff and the wooden beds make noise when you move. There are a lot of mosquitos outside so make sure you in and out quickly. There is coffee mix but no hot water or electric kettle provided which is really bad. They provide an old television with no or bad reception of channels. This hotel setup is quite different from other hotels is that they have a very wide land from north to south. In order to utilize the land that they build individual two storied houses with 4 rooms per floor. Each standing quite a distance from one another. I have to point out that this hotel has discrimination between locals and foreigners at the breakfast. This point really pissed me off. They didn’t prepare buffet breakfast at that time due to few guests (I saw only 7 guests in total) in order to save cost. I am local so I can only have a plate of fried rice. My other Thai lady colleague can choose from menu and she can have toast, pan cakes, bacons, sausages and etc etc. This shouldn’t be like that since this situation put the locals at lower esteem than foreigners. I want to make a complaint about this discriminated breakfast but I don’t want to ruin a good day start and I set back - eating my fried rice. The morning sun rise from this hotel is a must watch and not to miss at any point. This is the very view that only Kings and royals can enjoy. The lake in front and the sun raising up from the east with background of a distance Pagoda is splendid. There are two swimming pools but the waters are not so clean due to less maintenance. The staffs are very friend and attentive. If you are still thinking about difficulties sleeping alone please consider another hotel - just my friendly advice. …
Enjoyed stay here. Lovely resort and setting with well maintained grounds. Very clean, large rooms, and beautiful views. Bathroom really needed more lighting! Friendly and accommodating staff although you have to chase them down sometimes for service in lobby and restaurant. Unfortunately only 1 key is offered per room, so hotel guests would definitely benefit from being issued 1 key per adult!
This hotel is beautifully built with red bricks. It is not a luxurious place but decent and clean. Its by the lake and very relaxing. Restaurant is modest. Staff are very helpful. Nice garden to walk around. A huge drum awaits at the reception to welcome you.
Myanmar style 4 star hotel. That means don’t expect what you would in the West. Lovely location. Room very clean and beds comfortable. We had room service both evenings and chose western food as a change from usual local cuisine...it was fine. Recommend a visit to the spa .....
