The owner of this hostel was so friendly and went out of her way to make us all feel at home. Meals were simply amazing and she really cooked us a feast. Her husband was as friendly went he got home and couldn't do enough to make us all welcome. Can really recommend this home for an overnight stay!
We had a long and very wet day and made it to the door of The Way wet, bedraggled and not willing to take take one more step. They welcomed us in, set a fire (see photo) and were very hospitable. There were four of us in two rooms - here’s where the story diverges. Room one was great, warm large and a nice modern bathroom for $45e. Room two was older and smaller (no big deal) and a little less expensive at $40e. It also had a non functioning heater and a small space heater in the bath. It was very cold in there and there was quite a bit of condensation on the window/walls (see photo). With enough blankets we slept well but could have been outside at that temp. Food was so so - you are given charges at the end and pricing is a bit odd vs what you would pay elsewhere. Overall we were thankful for the place to stay but take a close look at your room before you sign on. …
We arrived early afternoon and were absolutely welcomed. Aduro made us a complete meal from scratch — and I had to be rolled away from the table it was so good and wholesome. Perfect energy foods for our last stage into Santiago. The room was clean and comfortable — with a matching restroom/shower. This place is quiet and extremely peaceful — far from the road but just 50 meters from the Camino trail. The facility included a large garden with plenty of sun or shade depending on your preference. I would strongly recommend ‘the way’ to anyone and would patron this Pension/Albergue again. Thank you Tony and Aduro. Jack and Grace.
Audora was a one woman army who cooked amazing meals for us and saw to our every need. The sweetest lady indeed! This was truly a highlight on our Camino travels. Loved staying there! Highly recommended for a peaceful stay and awesome pilgrims meal.
When I arrived, I rang the doorbell and walked in to find the owners looking at me completely blankly and just standing there when I told them the name our reservation was under. I actually thought for a while that they were other guests who had just happened to open the door, but eventually the lady decided to get the reservation book and look up the name. The room had mould growing in the ceiling and was full of flies. The toilet had a sign asking you to request a coloured towel if you were going to bleed on anything, because white towels were too hard to wash. It was just a bizarre place overall.
