Stayed for a week in a chalet. Comfortable, peaceful and quiet ! Really lovely place. Wonderful atmosphere on June 21st for "fête de la musique". Great meal (barbecue😊)and concert organised by campsite. Fab restaurant terrasse with olive tree, view over château d'Aguilar. Thanks for a lovely stay. V.

Relais D’Aguilar is the perfect place for the adventure traveler. Six of us on a five day bicycles only trip had planned our stay here months ago. What we didn’t know was that when my bicycle derailor broke, stranding me 20 km from their hotel, that a call to them made a potentially miserable situation into a minor mishap. They drove their van out to pick me and my bike up. Our hosts found a bicycle for me to ride on our stay over day. Then James drove my husband and me into Perpignan, 30 more km, to three bike shops to insure we have found the necessary replacement. Wow. For trekkers, bicyclists and motorcyclists this is an amazing place to stay. A comfortable bar and restaurant made group meals pleasant since the weather was cool . PS. The dinners were first rate.

My wife and I stayed here with a tent 2 years ago, enjoyed it and so decided to come back. Pleasant surprise, it's even better than before thanks to the young dynamic Irish / French couple that now run the place. Super friendly and helpful. The campsite itself is lovely. Lots of shade under the olive trees, a pool, and the restaurant is always lively at lunchtime and in the evenings and serves good value pizzas as well as traditional French food. From the terrace you can admire the beautiful view over the vineyards and the château d'Aguilar. Overall, great value for money, friendly owners, and everything you need in a family-run campsite. We'll be back.

Its difficult to describe the joy we had staying here. Firstly this resort (Gite & Camping) was not what we expected. It was with some apprehension when we arrived as it was 23.30 and we were at least 4 hours late, however the owners met us with a warm welcome and directed us to our Wooden chalet so we could get a good nights rest. The chalet itself had all the normal mod-cons you would expect, and the bed was comfortable. The site itself sits slightly elevated in a valley and has stunning views, we would wake up every morning to coffee on our veranda while looking up at the mountain opposite which sits the Castle Aguilar... Just WOW!!! The owners (husband and wife team) were always willing to assist on what one can do in the local area and further afield. We were really sad when our time came to an end and look forward to revisiting next year. After speaking to the owners and noticing the other occupants I can say with some sort of certainty that they cater to the Biking and Hiking holiday makers or like us just people who want to decompress and have peace and serenity. The owners speak french (of course!!) and english, they also had a large dutch Hiking group, but was not sure if this was also spoken. The restaurant was great, the food and service was excellent. All in all we can not recommend Relais D'Aguilar highly enough.

Spent the first week in May here and was pleasantly surprised. The chalet was spotless, well equipped and very comfortable. Great water pressure in a spacious shower, plenty of hot water and a very comfortable bed ensured a stay that will make me think twice about ever staying in a hotel room again. The terrace on the chalet looked out on fantastic views of the local vineyards and we watched the sun go down each evening over a glass of excellent (but very well priced) fitou red wine. The campsite is set up for families with a swimming pool and various swings and slides are dotted around the grounds but it's also well worth a visit for couples. The chalets seemed angled for privacy and were well screened by greenary. The campsite seemed quiet and peaceful even though there were families with children on site and at one stage during our visit, a large motorbike touring group stayed over night. It didn't seem to interfere with the chilled out vibe at all. The restaurant food was good with enough options on the menu to cater to most tastes. I have to recommend the gambas and my husband raved about the rack of lamb which he felt would be a threat to the (up to that point) unparalleled reputation of Irish lamb. The sheep in Tuchan may not benefit from the soft Irish rain but the chef certainly coaxed the very best from the lamb we tasted. For dessert the chocolate fondant pudding has to be tried - it was the best I've ever had. The nearest village is three minutes walk away and is a typical example of a french rural village - an excellent boulangerie, a butchers and a well stocked supermarket will cover the basics. The local wine merchants in the village is well worth a visit to sample the local specialities which are also carried by the restaurant on the campsite. All in all, this location is a hidden gem. We were visiting friends nearby and while there didn't seem to be a lot of choice in accommodation in the area, we weren't enticed by the previous reviews of Relais D'Aguilar. However the campsite has changed owership very recently and perhaps the new owners have made all the difference. I can't complain about a single thing during our stay and we'll definitely be back to recharge the batteries again.
