After 60 years we thought the time was appropriate to revisit Mulranny and stay again in the Great Southern Hotel . However the Great Southern is long gone but The Mulranny Park has taken its place on that elevated site overlooking the beautiful Clew Bay. We stayed in the Classic King room.{John Lennon room] Our stay was way beyond what we had anticipated particularly the professionalism ,helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff . Also the size of the room and general high standards of the furnishings and facilities available gave the room an unique appeal. The meals were excellent .The evening meal in the restaurant is up there with the best and were greatly impressed with the choice available, the quality and presentation of the food. The general ambience of the hotel is more Country House which adds to its charm. We will return again soon but I would ask one favour of the Great National Hotels and Resorts- replace the walk in shower cubicle in the John Lennon room. It is a big blot in an otherwise good big bathroom.

After touring the West of Ireland for 10 days or so, mostly staying in some very nice b&b accommodation, we booked into the 4* Mulranny for a couple of days of luxury. A mistake. For a start it is no where near 4* standard. Worn fixtures and fittings, average food, it struggles to reach 3 star at best. Contrary to the website, it is not "a few steps from the sea and sand", it is a good 25 minute walk to the nearest beach, which is non-existent at high tide and one of the least impressive we visited on the West Coast. We also suffered the misfortune of being kept awake until gone 3.00am on Monday morning by other guests enjoying an extended wedding celebration. Great for them but a genuine 4* would have arranged things differently, wholly unacceptable. The only positive factor was the usual genial nature of most of the staff.

Very disappointed with our 2 nights here. We chose it to have 2 days of luxury whilst driving the Wild Atlantic Way. We arrived on Sunday night and decided to eat in tbe bar. The food was average but ok. Our room was very jaded. We booked a superior double and the view over the water to the mountains was wonderful and the room was very spacious. But, the carpet was worn and stained, the floor tiles in the bathroom cracked with bits of grout poking out. The shower curtain had seen better days...the whole room needs upgrading if they are going to charge the prices they ask. Then the Dublin "wedding party" arrived back from the beach. There was live music the floor below us until 11.30 but the shouting and general drunkedness carried on until 3.30am. We got very little sleep and when we complained in the morning and asked if there was a function on the Monday, were met with indifference. They claimed to have tried to keep the guests under control but had failed (so not their fault!) The hotel needs to decide whether it's a "party" hotel, a family hotel or a getaway for people looking for a bit of peace and quiet. You can't have all three. Our bill was huge, and I genuinely regret staying there instead of one of the local B+Bs where we would have been made to feel much more welcome.

My sister got married here in July 2019 and I have to say the hotel and the staff were amazing. The hotels wedding co-ordinator was fantastic to work with and catered to my sisters every need. The day of the wedding the hotel looked amazing and the food was divine! My only regret was that I couldn't finish everything because it was so delicious. The staff were amazing during the meal. The food was brought out quickly and the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. The venue itself is fantastic. It is bright and airy with spectacular views of clew bay and it has a lovely balcony attached to the function room where people can soak in the view. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Overall a fantastic venue for a wedding! 10/10👌

I have visited here a few times in the past few years with my husband and 2 kids, we always go off peak so get a good rate for the 2 bed apartments. The apartment is perfect for us, the breakfast is great and we love going for dinner in the restaurant. The last 2 times the hotel arranged a babysitter at an extra cost who was excellent. She was a local lady who works in the hotel. We love the swimming pool and as we have gone off peak the pool was never busy. We love this hotel and hope to return soon.
