After our Safari we finished our honeymoon trip with a stay at Fanjove Island. The Island could be directly put out of the Robinson Crusoe novel: white sand, clear water and lots of lovely ghost and hermit crabs. There are many opportunties to spend time like snorkelling or ocean excursions, but we decided to focus on the most essential things: enjoying the great meals, relaxing and reading books. Our personal highlight was the candle light dinner in front of the lighthouse!
barefoot paradise. you feel completely at one with nature. The bandas are beautifully designed, very comfortable, and with exquisite views to the ocean. The hosts and all the staff delightful, nothing too much trouble. Great snorkelling, great eating, great dolphin watching. Fanjove is top of my list of places I love.
We spent four truly wonderfual days at this stunning private island. It's somewhere between "Castaway" and Robinson Crusoe but with a great chef! Juan and Alysanne, along with staff ( including Nasri and Hakim) were superb. You have a very nice live reef just off the beach with easy access, and if snorkeling/diving and just hanging out are your thing, you will enjoy Fanjove.
Paradise found in this amazing private island. Complete digital detox, remote location with no one other than the staff and other guest's on the island. Crystal clear waters with white sandy beaches, wonderful walks around the island without bumping into anyone! Activities available should you wish or the best excuse just to chill out, read, swim, walk the beach and enjoy the island vibe. Juan & Alzaan are great manager's, very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. My food allergies were a concern with me being allergic to seafood & fish and the team certainly took more than great care of my meals and needs. An unexpected bonus was the turtle's hatching on our last evening, such an AMAZING experience. Thank you so much to the Fanjove team, we will be back.
We were a little hesitant as to whether it was worth the time, effort, and money to stray from the typical conclusion to a northern circuit Tanzania safari or just head to Zanzibar like everyone else - but in retrospect the decision should have been an easy one. Boat rides to watch the spinner dolphins, incredible snorkeling right off the beach, and amazing meals of freshly caught seafood, with (literally) no other tourists anywhere around. Thanks so much to Laura, Johan, Hakim, Emil, Wilson, Nasri, Mustafa, the chefs, and especially to Malcolm (with whom we had the extra good fortune of traveling to/from the island at the same time) for the truly inspirational work he's done in collaboration with the local community to create, maintain, and improve this one-of-a-kind island experience, and more importantly the surrounding ecosystem. Who knows if we will ever get to return, but I hope that the coming improvements do not alter the simplicity and laid-back feel of this place. There are plenty of rockstar-type islands with the pricetags to match - this one is perfect just the way it is.…
