I have known the Houw Hoek Inn (now called "Hotel") for more than 30 years - having stayed there for occasional weekends and also for Christmas 2015. This week I visited with a friend for lunch only. My expectations were dashed. The food was stale - my Pork Cordon Bleu was a disastrous thick, puddingy mess of chopped pork (I...

Cape Town is a renowned, international destination, but sadly this establishment still seems to be stuck in the same spirit as when Lady Ann visited it. Her description of this roadside inn placated on the walls is still sadly valid! The place needs a spruce, rebranding and its staff needs to be exposed to some international establishments for a chin-up...

We decided to call at this hotel for lunch and were made very welcome. The menu was not very extensive but we found several fish dishes to our liking and these we found to be tasty and nicely presented. The service was friendly and efficient and, overall, this was a pleasant experience in an attractive setting.

Good service, large room, extremely quiet at night despite that there was a wedding going on at the establishment. Old school bar in Hotel. Nostalgic, historic feel to the establishment, like you are staying over at an ancient host that have seen many things. Will be back.

This is one of my favourite escapes with its rustic look and cosy environment, good homemade food and friendly service, nature in the valley at its best. The challets are well equipped, outdoor entertainment for the children, walking trails and more. Dinner dance on a Saturday night for the adults. If you are looking for a calm and tranquil escape...

Very spacious and clean accommodation with own verandha opening from French windows. Nice gardens but unfortunately the pool was green and dirty and certainly not conducive to having a swim. Breakfast was good.
